I have been looking at purchasing a camera from them. I just happened to be checking the website when they dropped this camera. The price was right, and I liked how it was a small form factor.
Nice! I only intended on purchasing a dream machine, and a single access point to improve wifi in the home. now I have a dream machine, enterprise access points, NVR, 5 cameras, doorbell, and a switch on order.. I love Ubiquiti. It makes me want to open another IT company so I can install their products everywhere! I am a little concerned however because I purchased the G5 turrets not realizing they need to be "covered". According to the IP66 rating it seems like it should be able to be direct mounted in weather. But they advise against it, and suggest placing under an eve. Have you tried to fully expose any of these turrets? And did they survive?
Thanks! Quick question, the instructions imply for ceiling mount you need to use the back plate, but you just screwed straight in to the soffit, correct?
Yeah, that back plate is really only for drop ceilings or where someone has access. Most of these outdoor installs go right into soffit, fascia, or even the thin siding/plastic material. For my installs, I just make sure it holds and it's good to go. No back plate needed.
Great video! Thank you :)

Can you make a video showing the picture quality?
Yes I’ll record that next, I would like to get some day vs night shots.

How did you purchase one so fast lol
How didi you adopt the camera? I was able to add it but don't have an option to adopt it.
It showed up in my system and I saw a button that said click to adopt. Make sure you are in protect. Maybe try the app vs the web interface.

Yes back plate screwed into the soffit.
