    ABOUT DANNY
    -----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On CZcams and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

OMG This grip method is the greatest piece of advice I have ever seen. I watched it on Wednesday and took it to the course on Thursday and knocked 10 shots off the round. When you use the technique described the grip created feels so natural and hence the grip stays right and the balls sails down the course. Thank you so much

Danny that was one of the best explanations of managing your golf grip. It was really helpful in describing how you get the club into your fingers and especially the grip pressure that is unique to each player and how you control your driver. Thank you, I will take this to the practice range and hopefully to the course!

This tip changed my golfing story. Today every drive went straight, so did all my fairway shots, my friends were amazed, I am so happy. My drives used to go straight then veer left once they hit the ground - no more! I am a left handed high handicap older golfer, I now look forward to playing instead of dreading my drives.

Great lesson as always. I have been working on the grip specifically in the past week. Much of what you covered here is what I am working on. Can definitely say the strikes are more consistent and the ball is going farther with what seems much less "effort feel". The great thing, is once this is nailed down, the swing is effortless in "feel".

I have been following and watching your videos for some time now. These are outstanding instructional aids. And I recently found this video.
When I first started golfing, a little over 20 years ago, I would link the pinky of my trail (lower) hand with the index finger of my lead (higher) hand. And I have done so since then. I did not play a lot of golf - and some summers I would not play at all. This year, I have started to play golf more regularly with the intent to improve my game so that I can enjoy it as I get older (and I came to the sport in my early 30s). Recently, I started experiencing some pain with the pinky of my trail hand, so I have stopped interlocking my pinky and index finger. The change has not appeared to adversely affect my drives, but time will tell.

Tiger said the hands are most important because they are how you interface with the club. Grip changes are the quickest fix to any swing imo, great lesson. I suffer from getting too strong of a grip sometimes so I am always having to check this, I finally learned to just build it into my pre-shot routine so i don't have to worry about it. In terms of pressure, my instructor told me to grip with intension, basically what you are saying, and also to imagine you were wringing the water out of a towel with your fingers. For the drive the towel is soaked and for the wedges it is just barely wet. This really has helped me. Now I just have to worry about path issues :)

Spot on. Two weeks ago, I suddenly couldn't get a good ball strike or get off the tee. I ran into my instructor one day on the range and after watching one swing, his quick observation was that my left hand was weakening causing the club face to open at the top. Simple grip change and I shot my best round of the year that day. Keep on...love your lessons!

  • @pringals
    @pringals Před 2 lety +4

Great tips! I haven't played much golf in the last 10 years, but now that I'm getting back into it, I have found myself making these very mistakes and having a terrible slice. A friend gave me similar pointers and adjustments and it made a huge difference, especially after fixing my elbow position as you also showed. I was also bad at getting the club face square to the ball. I tend to rest the club on the ground while getting my grip and that natural sitting state of the club puts the face in the open position. My buddy is the only person who has ever pointed that out to me. When he would "square" me up, it would look more closed to me, but that's the way it suppose to be apparently.

Danny, thank you for this wonderful video. I've never played as much as I want, but have committed to playing more this year, as my grandson(s) are of the the age now where they like to play more. As to the video, I've ALWAYS struggled with my grip, which obviously leads to a lot of BAD golf shots, Army golf(left-right as I go down the fairway, lol), and much frustration. And, as I've advanced in age, especially the last year or so, my hands have grown weaker, and I find myself 'losing the club' during my swing, and rolling the clubhead. This single video has made a huge improvement in my grip, and while my scores have only improved marginally(I need to play more), my confidence level with the club in my hand has been affected tremendously. That leads to a lot less frustration, and, thus, much more enjoyment when I do play. Your explanations have elevated my understanding of golf instructions to a much higher level. Thank you so very much. Looking forward to viewing many of your videos.

I started playing golf in 1974 (not quite 30), not so long after that I read Ben Hogan's book "The Modern Fundamentals of Golf". The first chapter is "The Grip", I have used this method since then. I use the Vardon way to join the hands. I tried the interlock for a while because I read somewhere that "The Golden Bear" used that and decided it wasn't for me.
Another CZcams instructor talks about 'Powerless Arms" and 'Free hinging wrists" .
In the current group of CZcams instructors, I have Danny Maude as my preferred choice. I send your advice to a few of my fellows who (like me) are struggling with the loss of distance or accuracy.

I am golfer with small hands..😢😢 I currently use a quasi overlapping grip. I might tinker with grip on my next range session. I am thinking of going back to a ten finger grip. I feel like a senior golfer even though I am not. Hopefully this change will give me a little more pop!! Thank you Danny for the amazing content you provide. Your easy to follow instructions are always appreciated.

I recently tidied up my grip on the lines you have recommended and agree that it has made a big difference to my accuracy. However I still need some distance so will try the other tips you have suggested. It’s a never ending journey!

Thanks Danny for this tip, I changed my grip to what you suggested and found I was hitting it Straight from the first drive where I was aiming and my distance was a little better, on the 9th hole Par5 I dropped my first Eagle from 135yds up hill 9 iron, at my local course that day due to the change in where I held the club in my hand. Thanks! I look forward to trying out other lesson tips.

    Hi Danny,
Thanks to that bloody virus, I have had time to sit down and read and try some of the principles advocated in Ben Hogan's Five Lessons. An interesting point BH made was with regards to the right thumb and index finger being 'swing killers' if they grip the club too tightly.
Over the last three days or so, I've been getting used to the grip preferred by BH and I have to say, it is beginning to feel more natural and a lot less effort than my previous grip.
From what I could see, Your approach to establishing the grip on the club seems to establish this exact same principle but in a 'squarer' way, that is resting the club on the ground and using gravity to sort out the club position in ones hands. Having tried your tip, the end position of my hands on the club was virtually identical to what I was 'feeling' following BH book. Your tip does remove the tendency for any unnatural 'wrist-twists' though.
Can't wait to try this out on a course....once my COVID isolation has passed.
    Keep up the good work
    Tom J

Wow Danny! This might be the most valuable online lesson I've ever had! #3 is absolutely brilliant. Everyone should re-watch 6:55 - 7:10 again!
To compensate for my tendency to snatch the club inside, I got into a bad habit of push my hands out at the start. Big problem! It internally rotates the trail shoulder and leads to serious shoulder pain when you swing hard down to the ball from that position on top.
This grip tip helped me to achieve proper takeaway while allowing for a small external rotation of the trail shoulder.
Bingo! Shallower downswing path, arms in front of the body, and a much better position in the hitting zone. All with a pain free swing!
    Thank you!

took a 10 year hiatus (kids and life do that lol), and completely lost the feeling, not to mention 'feeling lost' when it came to the mechanics. started watching your vids for a couple of months and must say the ones on grip have made a huge difference (for the better, meaning I am almost ready to break 90 and get back to the feeling I had playing in low 80's before I 'left'!). many thanks Danny!

fantastic suggestion to improve the grip, I have been struggling with it for 40 years but no one had ever shown me so well how to position my hands, with this little trick of bending down when holding the iron and then lying down by having the grip readjusted on the fingers .... thanks a lot and I hope it can finally serve me!🔝🔝⛳️

Again, Danny with the save. After fixing my iron shot, he’s now done it again and fixed my driver. Your tips and tricks have fixed my slice and have given my driver a more consistent shot. The biggest takeaway that helped my driver was the hand grip. By following the natural placements of specifically my right hand, I’m able to keep the pendulum swing and keep my left and right arms connected to my body as I swing. For both hands, I aim to keep them aiming inwards and being able to see two knuckles on both hands. By doing this, it naturally keeps my arms arms in position. For my left arm, it’s keeping super straight without me having to force or be in an uncomfortable motion. You are the god of golf sent down here to help us mere mortals!

Came by this instructional video quite by accident. I had just looked up how not to top a three wood stumbled on and watched this video. I can not believe how this transformed my entire iron line up! Four holes in a poor drive and thinking well i will get this around the green somewhere. Ten consecutive pars later I still cant believe it. This set up reallly encourages you to grip and relax, which really lead to a to some of the best ballstriking throughout my line up (4-G). I was amazed at how well the long irons preformed after setting up and gripping per this instruction. I kept waiting for the wheels to fall off and they really never did. The approach and set up seemed to easy to be true, but it seems to work well for me. Thanks So Much!!!!
