Roof Tenting in North Wales | Anglesey Barracks & Dinorwic Quarry

Drove up from Leeds. Found a lovely park4night spot next to Bala lake ( Llyn Tegid ). Pitched up for the night no trouble. Got up early and set off to see Anglesey Barracks and Dinorwic Quarry. Sorry I could not film it all. With it been over 700 acres. You need a few days to explore
Anglesey Barracks
These cottages were built in the 1870s as housing for quarrymen who lived too far away to return home each night. There are two rows of 11 cottages built using granite blocks. These groups of houses were known as barracks. This one is called Dre Newydd or the Anglesey Barracks, because many Dinorwig quarrymen travelled from Anglesey. However, not all of the men who lived here were from Anglesey.
Men travelled from many communities in Gwynedd and Anglesey to work at the quarry. They usually returned home at the weekend. Barracks were built by the quarry owners to house these workers. The small two-room cottages had little protection from the elements, and living conditions were extremely poor.
Dinorwic Quarry
Dinorwic quarry also known as Dinorwig quarry) is a large former slate quarry, now home to the Welsh National Slate Museum, located between the villages of Llanberis and Dinorwig in Wales. At its height at the start of the 20th century, it was the second largest slate quarry in Wales (and thus, the world), after the neighbouring Penrhyn quarry near Bethesda. Dinorwic covered 700 acres (283 ha) consisting of two main quarry sections with 20 galleries in each. Extensive internal tramway systems connected the quarries using inclines to transport slate between galleries.Since its closure in 1969, the quarry has become the site of the National Slate Museum, a regular film location, and an extreme rock climbing destination.

I use an app called park4night. It tells you where you can and can’t. People leave reviews of that area. It can also tell you campsites
