- Here's a collection of our fav and most shocking PSAs ever aired in the 1980s & 90s - including Alcohol! Drugs! Asbestos! Tobacco! Nuclear War! Old Age! What PSA traumatized you the most as a young one?
“Suuuuure buddy!” ...2 seconds later “go to bed...now!”
Kid looks at his Dad like wtf, so sad to see a child so disappointed in his Dad while he's drunk.😔
@@ajaugenti1976 kids disappointed because dad drank his vodka too
@@guntherbeckman1257 He's heart broken.
Man, I had forgotten all about being terrified of Parkinson's when I was five. Good times.
I recall a worker safety spot where a construction worker is hammering a nail into a wall and a fragment of the nail's head breaks off and flies into the worker's eye. A frightening message to wear eye protection.
Sounds like the one where an intern(?) is using a nail gun without goggles-and without knowing how-and ends up nailing his eye on accident. Either way, still an effective lesson!
the parkinsons one was so creepy they showed that early in the morning saturdays still creeps me out
These are still effective till this day. They should bring them back.
I remember that Play Safe robot commercial very well. I saw it all the time when I was a kid.
And that Asbestos commercial is even creepier now. 😳
I wonder if those workplace safety videos are in this mix. The one where the chef slips and scalds her face with hot oil is terrifying
Yes. The Workers Compensation one where the little piece of metal flys up, in slow motion, from a nail a construction worker is hammering, and it goes right into his eye. Complete with horror movie music.
The hot oil one always scared the hell out of me.
I still shudder every time I think of it.
I saw the robot one a ton growing up. Still have my arms so I guess it worked?
I saw it too and I'm down a leg sooo...
I haven't seen these since I was a kid!
Thanks for the memories. 🙂
"Go to bed....now!" has lived rent free in my head for 40 + years...
Thanks for the nightmare fuel from the ages of 6 until like 30, Aastar. Fuck.
That drunk father has very low self esteem.
Now a smoking PSA yaaay, right as Im smoking haha
THE GOVERNMENT OF ONTARIO SAYS STOP HACKIN DARTS!
That "Joanne" smoking PSA always used to scare the hell out of my younger sister when we were growing up.
I could tell you about asbestos too. Three 3-month work terms at Johns-Manville in 1959-60 gave my dad mesothelioma, 60 years later. After a year & a half of suffering, he had a medically assisted death in his own bed.
The Johns-Manville Mesothelioma Trust Fund has paid out so many victims that Dad got barely enough to cover his burial expenses.
The Canadian rhino sure was a magnificent species
“say no to drugs” .... that went well 🤣🤣
Yup. PSA's using cool-looking skateboarders saying "Drugs are for losers" is like having an alcoholic preaching that drinking is wrong. Drug use is the hallmark of coolness and rebellion.
I remember most of these, and _almost_ forgot about that Noah's Ark WWF one.
My mom got emphysema from smoking at a fairly young age. She lived on cigarettes, bud light and opioids. She died at 55 in 2012 due to an overdose and was only 88 pounds.
How tall was she
I know we joke about these now but they all had good messages and got their point across. The one I really remember from childhood is the Parkinson’s one
Cool love these creepy old commercials , that woods one was really scary
I'm not sure I understand the one about the kid being lost in the bush....
times sure changed, during the lockdowns they made sure we had access to alcohol
the first video gives me chills remembering it
Chris Wiggins did the voiceovers in the "Dad, can you fix this?" and WWF PSA's.
@1:22 Smoking turns you into Judy Davis! Sign me up!
Too much man. I have also looked for this commercial for years as well. First the Hemopheliac kid and now this. I used to shout that at my cousins to go to bed, so so bad
Aastar was his own worst enemy. I mean, c'mon, jumping and frolicking to an frow with all those saw blades. Total recipe for disaster.
THANK-YOU! Fuck, it's about time someone said it 😂. Sidenote - that PSA scared the shit out of me as a kid.
The last PSA sounds like the voice of Mark Dailey.
I think it was.
That Playsafe one .. still nightmare fuel
So many memories!🥰
"you are armed too!" lmfao not in Canada you're not!
found the gun fetishist.
Wasn't the abusive husband one of the hosts on Polka Dot Door?
Yep. Great crossover!
Wow I remember this commercial
I'm not a smoker but I didn't know they had toilet bowl cleaner as an ingredient in cigarettes back then, or maybe even still to this day!
What the hell
Never heard of the bank robber psa
I remember that one vaguely from the early '80s.
Good argument for bank robbers to shoot witnesses.
I want to see the one with the beer goggles as beer glasses
Damn, I thought it was just my parents who worried about everything all the time 😃
1:20 Better special effects than Hollywood put out in 20 years lol
they were probably using those same effects back then, lol
I'm sure they bought rights to Bookends by Simon and Garfunkel @6:03.
Love a lot of Canadian PSAs. But still, most of my favorite PSAs are Australian Ones
Australian PSA 's are too dark.
@@Mikewee777 That’s what makes them so good. With their powerful and effective messages.
My dad never saw the first one unfortunately
Asstar (deliberate spelling) was just rubbing it in. Oh, he's super special and can put his arm back on, look at him!
More of canadien psa.
I don't drink
Warner Bros and Disney vhs dvd b collector good for you, party boy 😄
3:34
what can happen ?
Getting lost in the woods
Go to bed......
N O W !!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Golden Frieza is telling kids to play safe?!
Why not? Cool partygoers say that drugs are for losers...
Go To Bed............................................ NOW
