Coat hanger will rust PDQ. Better is a galvanized garden stake.

I think it’s better the slinky not fixed on the ground or the pole so the squirrel will just keep bouncing up & down or be thrown by the slinky

If you don’t have a hollow pole but rather a solid metal shepherd’s hook, how can you secure the bottle top in place on the pole?

Yes the slinky alone doesn't work 100%. Must have the bottle top there. 👍

I thought I heard you say that the slinky is zip tied to the pole. That's secure enough? Seems like the whole slinky would slide down after multiple attempts to climb. Thoughts?

I use a good strong zip tie. (Not dollar store) 11" from Home Depot. Has never slipped. 👍
