My current feeders empty quickly with much of the seeds ending up on the ground. Your idea, along with lowering the feeding tube, looks like that will solve the problem as well as reducing the need to refill frequently. Thank you for sharing and demonstrating your build method so clearly!!

yes after watching my bird feeders i've noticed some birds just love flicking the seed out, i thought everyone was getting a good feed but a couple of dominant ones are having some fun

Great project! I especially like the bucket o'grub.😂
The squirrels by me would have a "field day" with that feeder!😢 It would be chewed up and pulled down in no time! Great idea though for areas without squirrels! God Bless!😊❤

I made it but put the strick inside the tunnel as there is nothing for the birds to grip on and its slippery and curved. Just tie the twig with cable ties by making tiny slits in the outer edge of the tunnel bottle. It took my birds about 2 days to figure it out and now they love it😊

Liable for water to ingress to the feed ,probably cut the centre tube at a 45 degree angle angle to prevent water getting into feed

Good idea but it looks like 25% of the seed won't be accessible. I'd suggest lowering the tube

The seed will also go mouldy and with all feeders they need to be cleaned regularly to prevent disease spreading from bird to bird which is near impossible with that unfortunately
And also is not 100 % water proof . Just improve the access for the birds , in a 5 " angle so the water don't go in .

Where does the husk go and do the birds reach more seeds? Do they throw away the husk? I would love to see the birds eating from it.

Nice, though could put a plastic canopy over the top to keep out rain water.
put something inside like sandpaper so they can grip, too slippery and seal where the inner tube meat the outter bottle or when it rains the water will run inside the big bottle and ruin the seed

how do the birds get the feed below the perch isn't wasted if they can't get it.

- палочка не нужна, т.к. мелкие птицы синицы-воробьи сразу внутрь залетают, а всякие голуби своим весом переворачивают.
- важно следить чтобы кормушка не оказалась пустая иначе снегом задувает все дно бутылки и придется нести домой греть (это в регионах где снег зимой есть)

I have a terribe problem with squirrels. They eat everything and leave nothing for my feathered friends. Does this idea allow squirrels to eat the seed too? If so is there a suggestion to avoid this. Believe you me I've tried a thousand already.
Place where there are no surrounding branches and add a plastic baffle through the string on the top...I suppose you can make one too, but it has to be able to tip and sway, preventing them from climbing over the top.
I was wondering the same thing. There are some very determined squirrels and they will find a way to succeed and not squirrel proof?

The peaty squirrels and crows eat most of the seeds. Creating something with a basic cage would be ideal.
Very good & Appreciable job but I think there is some designing mistake with this bird feeder. Lower part of bottle's feed will not be reachable to birds. If you fit small bottle's belly at lowest position of 6 Liter bottle then feeds can be much reachable to birds and wastage will be reduce.

Le problème avec ce genre de distributeur gros volume est que les oiseaux vont venir toute la journée et le vider en 2 jours . Je préfère un distributeur plus petit. Je mets la même quantité tous les jours et bcp moins de gaspillage.

Это ловушка для птичек...без обид...Для птичек должен быть ХОРОШИЙ ОБЗОР...вовремя улететь и спрятаться от хищника.Здесь для хищника обеспечен фактор неожиданности...Сколько раз я видел,как ловит воробьёв зимой ястреб.Сидят воробьи на вишенке ...радостно чирикают после кормушки...и вдруг рядом из за забора им падает на голову ястреб...шок и страх делают своё дело...один из них в когтях...😢
