This song is not for Billboard. They were easily able to release mega-hit song with full English lyric, but this was just made for BTS and ARMY. They don't dwell on their position and do just what they want to. Love it.

Its a song that people who don’t know about bts and their journey cant relate, so I understand if people said its not easy listening to or not addicting. the desert and sea sounds are connected to their hidden song Sea from 2017
"This place that I thought was the *sea* was actually a *desert*
and our second name was “idols from a small agency with no connections”
We were cut from broadcast countless times
To fill in for someone was our dream
Some said we won’t be able to make it big because we’re from a small company
I know I know I know as well
The days when seven of us tried to sleep in one room
The faith we had before falling asleep that tomorrow would be different
    The mirage of a *desert*
Though I could see its form, I couldn’t grasp it
I prayed that we would survive in this *desert* that felt endless
I prayed that it wasn’t reality
Eventually the mirage was caught by us and became reality,
and the *desert* we feared got filled with our blood, sweat, and tears to become the *sea*
But what are these fears among all this happiness?
We know too well that this place was originally a *desert*
I don’t want to cry, I don’t want to rest
(No, how about resting just for a bit)
    (No no no)
I don’t want to lose, this was originally a desert

It doesn't really feel like a comeback to me. Let's be honest for a while, Yet To Come is more of a personal message to ARMYs, a way to express BTS feelings about this moment of their career and their hopes for the future, than a potential hit. I don't think this song will do well on the radio, though it may be received well in SK. But that seems to be the whole point of this release. This time it's all about the music they've been releasing since 2013 until now. It's all about giving their last 9 years as BTS a closure and starting a new chapter.
Listening to this album is like going through a photo album. Each song brings back memories. I still remember the thrill I felt when I was waiting for the first performance of RUN on MAMA 2015, my tears of joy when I saw them win their first Daesang, my excitement to see them perform on AMAs and then on BBMAs. It was a really long ride, but I've enjoyed it so much.
I'm both excited and scared to find out what are BTS planning to do next. It must be something big, probably bigger than just a change of direction they want go with their music. But since they assured us that it's not the end, then I'm eagerly waiting to see them begin their new chapter.

I'm sure someone must have mentioned it but BTS has used the metaphor of desert/ocean several times before (off the top of my head, at least in the hidden track Sea off of LY:Her and also in Black Swan). The desert sort of represents hardship, their struggle in the music industry, while the ocean represents success.
So I took them being in the desert as another way to throwback to their humble beginning - they started in the "desert" and they do talk about "going back to square one" in the song. I guess implying that whatever "new chapter" they're embarking on still starts in the desert.
And the ocean sounds are like....echoes of the fact that they've found so much success. But as they say, their success isn't their main focus, so they are centering the MV on their difficult journey instead - hence why the ocean is only there in the background.

But this anthology album is the safe route, coz whether they'll go to military or not, it's advantage to them qnd their fans. If the government said they have to go then atleast they created an album for army's as a group before they go (if they decide to go as a group) or jin goes first. And if ever their gov't said they don't need to go then they can have world tour immediately and release a new album after or while having a world tour just like the old times.

I think they are going to the military in the end of the year, so this a goodbye for now, that's why the antology album came with 9 years of carrer, not 10. They are closing this chapter now, but hoping and antecipaing new things. That's why has this feeling of goodbye, finalization and hope. They are telling armys that everything is okay, they didn't lose their essence (but i dont think they are going to replicate their old concepts and vibe, it is just a message about their roots) and the future will be beautiful too (new songs when they come back to the military)

    1. If they all go to the military together (preferred), BigHit probably has some things that are going to be going out while they are in the military pre-filmed, pre-recorded.
    2. If they go to the military in sections or solo, solo/duo activity that continues the storyline until they're all back together. Examples: solo music, acting in BU films/television, etc.

Enjoy all the solo/unit work, stay patient, and use all your pent up energy for the years of waiting to support their comeback after. There’s a reason why when big groups comeback from the military they blowup a whole lot!

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation- his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realise that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick & Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existential catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius wit unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools.. how I pity them. 😂

A lot of people think this is a goodbye, and I honestly don't see it like that at all. I do get the sense of finality it has, but it doesn't seem like a finale, it seems to me like a beginning more than anything. I think this album was special to celebrate their anniversary (they might have to go to the military before the 10th anniversary, hence why they wouldn't be able to release it then), but I don't know why I get the feeling that we'll be getting another comeback before the end of the year, I guess we'll have to see. It depends on a lot of different things, but it does feel like they are giving closure to a lot of stuff in order to move forward in a new direction. One thing I know for sure is that it is not a finale, at least not for them, just the end of an era.

I was really happy to see them referencing Just One Day, since it's one of my favourite BTS songs, but overral I'd say all the references are well done. Love the song (and lyrics!), and also agree that it's one of their most philosophical songs, which i really appreciate. It was probably not the kind of song most of the fandom was expecting (myself included, if I'm being honest), but it's better than anything I hoped for.
As for what they'll be doing next, this does feel like a goodbye in a way. A happy goodbye, the end of a chapter that is filled with hope for an even better future, I think that's the conclusion most people are reaching. But as for anything more than that, i have no clue. There's the enlistment situation that will have to be solved soon, but I don't think I have any right to comment on that, so I'll just wait for any official announcements and see how things go from there. Whatever happens, happens. I'm sure that no matter what they'll keep improving and being sucessful, and if they're really starting a new chapter in their careers, then I can't wait to see where it takes them ^^

That said, I also think it's EXTREMELY CLEVER because, if "the worst" happens and they go off on their military service we will all say, "OMG, they really were saying goodbye in the sweetest, most positive way!" So either way--considering how this had to release before there was any clarity (or at least an official statement) regarding their military service--it will totally work. Genius (of course). At first, I felt quite sad and overwhelmed with mixed emotions after I watched mv and heard the song. I mean let’s be honest, this is not how they usually do a come back, right? For other comebacks, all 7 members gathered around and did a count down some mins before.
And the way they’re promoting this come back, seems on the very quiet side as well- usually, with tonite shows or late late shows, radio studio s, interviews, etc are lined up right away, right?
I definitely felt it is a song dedicated for army -especially the old ones, thanking them once again for being there for BTS. In fact, that was what rm said for the comeback interview. So I get that and also get past references to previous MVs, and such.
However, I also really felt this emotion that they will be ‘leaving’ their current BTS ways. Meaning, maybe we won’t see any more of those rigorous (or not) dance MVs or choreo w all 7 as before, or they may start on their movie career, or some may serve military and who knows, some may get even married? I mean I can go on but I really think they are saying ‘goodbye’ to something. I know on the surface, yes, this is an anthology and the concept behind the album but this is not just closing the current chapter. I feel they may do solo stuff, (j hope is already starting it- very first solo performance at the upcoming festival), and what else I don’t know yet.
But the lyrics and the way they setup the mood of this song gives me the vibe they might have a break, or military, or acting, whatever each member want to do if they don’t have to do a group thing.
It kinda makes sense, too. Their contract ends in 3-4 years? So I am sure they will be still working as BTS member but can you imagine going through the whole thing again? Like come back w a killing song and it shoots to billboard #1, then extraneous promo schedule, performance, countless interviews, another dash at Grammys (as if anything will ever change), etc. perhaps, all that, doing again may feel useless at this point to them. And I can hear what they are saying about those issues as they honestly sang it in this song.
They came back to the root and really looked into themselves on how they want to live, move forward w their career, etc, the ultimate happiness, what will make them happy at this point m, not really as a group but as an individual, I am sure.
Personally, the very last scene made me feel very sad and strange (aside all that explanation). The way they are wearing all white (as if they are not part of this world, either dream or from the heaven or something) and yes, they smile a bit but not like happily making a huge smile either. It felt like ‘yeah, we are glad we were able to make it and experience all the great so far doing what we did. But the time has come and we must find our ways, differently.’ like that.
Of course, my selfish mind does not ever want them to be apart for any reasons or do not want to feel ‘any kind of separation’ from them whether it’s a short or long term.
But I also can understand how tired they might be by now and truly need time to take a break emotionally and physically. if they do their solo work, it will be a lot lighter(?) than having this status w pressure as BTS, so it makes sense if that is what will happen.
And I wish them all the best and love for their future endeavors.
They returned us so much love as artists (no one does that) and their pure hearts really have touched every one of us. Wish them to be healthy and happy always whatever comes next!

And now it's still tinged with sadness but reading your comment here brought some more peace of mind for me. It's a reality we all have face to that whatever they decide for their career is simply that, their decision. I guess the impact of a possible goodbye really hit me when I listened to For Youth. That song really broke me down. But all in all I want them to be happy in whatever they choose to do. It's just mixed emotions like you said.

(my prediction) either jin enlists alone, and the other starts doing subunits/solo debuts. or all of them enlisting together (18months). the last album release was 19months ago (BE album) so i think armys can wait for 18 months (excluding the releases of their english single). plus they all said that if they're called, they'll be doing their duties as korean men. but the government (?) has to have their answer by now, for us to know and what bighit should do next. it's already 6months into 2022, time is ticking.

If they start to enlist by batches we will not have another BTS complete work in seven years. So it is not only two years of wait, is Jin, after Suga, they return and RM and J-Hope, after V and Jimin (can I be happy that they can have the opportunity to support each other during that time) and lastly when they return JK has to go.
I think it will be their solo work what we will start to see.
This may be the reason V mixtape was delayed and why Rap line is preparing their mixtapes for any time after this comeback.
Korean goverment I doubt want to lost the proofits that BTS brings them. I think is clear the only ones that wants them enlisted are some factions of the military and some people that can not acept another person can gain such "privilege" only for singing.
Truth is that BTS is doing more for their country as BTS than they might ever will do as soldiers, because in a war they are going to be cannon fodder or guerrilla soldiers (ask Ukraine), usefull but they do not win wars. Wars needs money and BTS brings money, so the ones that understand that knows that BTS should do their service bringing money to their country as BTS. The goverment should be promoting them all they can so they bring more money for the next two years and then release them to do as they want, but what can I know?

I love how this title track is like a little secret between BTS and the army.... Normal people won't understand; why are they in a desert, what a school bus doing there, why is a whole ass statue standing there, why is their piano and flowers, why is there a ferry round in middle of a desert, what's a container doing there, why is their ocean sounds in a desert and many more.

12:42 about the desert and the sound of waves, it's in reference to the hidden track, "Sea" on their [Love Yourself: Her] album, it was only available to hear if you played it on their physical album CDs, though they've since uploaded it to soundcloud. In it they use the imagery of "where the desert meets the sea" to describe how they felt about past hardships and their current success. Metaphorically, they'd been walking endlessly in a desert for a long time, just putting one foot in front of the other, and now they can hear the sound of waves and feel they've reached the ocean, but who's to say that it's the ocean? Maybe it was just a blue desert.

As a BTS fan since early 2015, this song means a lot to me. It's like a song to proves their journey in the music industry as well as my journey as an A.R.M.Y. This song is like a gift to those of us who have supported BTS and their careers over the years. Perfectly suited for their anthology album. I really like it and I'm ready to enter a new chapter of BTS. 💜💜

The clothes, the sound of the waves, the colors, the big set pieces, the little set pieces, the settings, the signage, the poses, the looks, the gestures, the big props, the little props, the movement, the choreography, and even the order they are sitting in the white chairs and on the bus are references to their old MV's everything. I found one item no one has noticed yet. Today someone pointed out the gas pumps in RM's scene. And the drums on the back seat of the bus I hadn't noticed before. But now I understand those references. I am sure more are hidden.

I’m a multi stan, first got into kpop because 2NE1 and Stray Kids. I got to love BTS along the way. The music video is beautiful, the music and the imagery. As the multimedia student, I also love this video, it’s done really really well. I’m looking forward to seeing what they will do next, I wish them all the best❤️

The song is beautiful and perfect for this type of album. Even more so the MV. A beautiful way to display all the memories 😍😍 🏜🌊
It does feel like a goodbye but also not. I totally agree that it's more hopeful than anything else. I do have a few scenarios in my head of what comes next but we'll just have to wait and see. I just know that I trust them. 💜💜💜
    Also, I would love a new album🥰😅

I saw someone say that the whole setting with the sand and sea sounds could be a reference to Sea a hidden track on Love Yourself: Her (2017)
1:47 화양연화 on stage : prologue JK did the same move there
1:52 same formation as the beginning of Just One Day
2:26 Jin is wearing the same clothing in DNA, also the hand movement looks like what happens in the end of Fake Love
2:33 V is referencing back to Boy in Luv, with clothing, desk and rose
    3:03 Spring Day
    3:17 Blood Sweat & Tears
3:21 Spring Day, Jimin wears the same clothes and the shoes scene is apparent
3:30 In wings short films Suga can be seen playing on a same piano
Also the flowers in the background I saw somewhere are Smeraldo (blue ones) that can be referencing The Truth Untold
    3:40 Train container on Run
3:50 Train is from Spring Day and J-Hope can be seen sitting on it
4:03 the car could indeed be traced back to the HYYH era, in Run they are all sitting in it
4:17 Jimin's pose is resembling the one in DNA
4:22 this scene is the same as in BST but V and Jin have changed places
    4:26 No More Dream bus
4:36 apart from all the running in Run this scene reminds me of the running scenes on Not Today but we see Jimin looking back instead of JK
5:07 the hand gesture V is doing was previously done by Jin is Spring day
That's all I could catch, tell me if you know more!

I am having a strong feeling about bts releasing another music video very soon , as the title and lyrics are saying . Also it doesn't make any sense that hybe spent all this time of bts just to shoot the music video alone , hardly it will take a maximum of 15 days to shoot the mv . So i am assuming that soon they are gonna release a really high budget song that is going to be another record breaker .

This MV is a real trip back in time. I couldn't stop crying yet.... The references already start in the first scene, which reminds me of the end of Life Goes On, and being in Korean, wow, what a movie that crossed my mind. When JK starts putting his hand over his eye it's a reference to Young Forever, when Yoongi is on top of the piano it's a reference to First Love, when Tae has a rose in his hand it's a reference to Boy In Luv, when the Jimin puts his hand in his mouth and then extends it is a reference to Spring Day and DNA, Jin does the Fake Love pose too, and the truck that they so much part of the mv makes reference to Run, and in the end, the scene of them sitting on the bus is just like Spring Day, the last scene is just like the spring day scene they are on the train!! the filming, the expressions, even the gestures, they talked about the album and Nan said that this was their first chapter so I see this MV this album as a closure of this chapter, references to old times and everything and the second chapter "is still to come" and that they are preparing more new things for us but that was just my interpretation, oh my God, what an exciting memory for us ARMYs, a flexbeck epic. This MV was the best made of BTS's career, the care with the scenography, the references, the expressions to the lyrics. OH MY GOD HOW I CRIED. THANK YOU FOR BEING ALIVE TO BE ABLE TO LIVE THIS. 💗👏👏👏😭😍💗😪
