That's alright. I live in northern indiana, so I can only imagine how it plays out from the end and all I can say is that you wouldn't be wrong because it already sounds like northern indiana weather waiting to happen elsewhere, heh heh
@@aleccsanchez4597 no need to fret, my good man. Living in northern Indiana myself, I could probably come up with a very interesting, yet lengthy, hypothesis as to how I think it would play out because I'm used to weather similar to this...in fact, there's a video on my own page that occured back in June of such example if you wanna go check it out. Anyhow, I digress. The only thing I haven't experienced is the ungodly-sized hail or the part where it has considerably worsened like it did when it hit Cadillac because first off, I don't think anybody has ever seen hail that large and second off, the only time you see storms this powerful in the states is either in Oklahoma or Texas during tornado season or the coast lines during hurricane season. I do have no problem sharing my hypothesis though, if any of you guys wish to hear it...@EasCreator0 included.
YOU HAD ONE JOB. Seriously, you could've EASILY killed me in a EAS Mock Scenario. I have yet to die in ANY EAS Mock Scenario! This would easily have made it down to the Detroit area!
So I figured out what happened. Phil Swift took three separate squall lines and grafted them together with Flex Tape. He destroyed Michigan to show the power of Flex Tape. I'm sold.
There has likely been ten inch hail before. The official largest in the United States is 8 inches after melting some. But yeah, this storm would be the definition of hell!
Surprised you didn't use PDS Severe Thunderstorm Watches and Extreme Wind Warnings where applicable. Also, as a meteorologist, barring this situation being highly unlikely, I could say what really would happen if you have thunderstorms approaching a stationary front. I don't know if you've heard of elevated thunderstorms, but more or less that squall line would likely become elevated. The tornadoes might go south of the front a tad, strengthening at the frontal boundary, but they'll likely dissipate eventually. The wind and hail threat would continue, though, along with the rain changing to snow. Your version of events wasn't too far off from what I can tell of what really could happen with some suspension of disbelief.
Well considering I made it up as I went I'll take it lol. Also, Extreme Wind Warnings are only used for hurricanes and I used a regular SVA in anticipation of the storms weakening.
@@ultratoughscene Maybe they modified the criteria for EWWs recently. The NWS Watch/Warning/Advisory definition page linked to KLWX's home page still lists an EWW as "An Extreme Wind Warning is issued for surface winds of 100 knots (115 MPH) or greater associated with non-convective, downslope, derecho (NOT associated with a tornado), or sustained hurricane winds are expected to occur within one hour." However, the Wikipedia article for EWWs don't mention derechos, though I think they used to. Neither does a PDF from the NWS on EWWs issued on Oct. 17th, 2018. I'll have to investigate this further I guess. I don't know of a derecho that's required an EWW that I know of ever since EWWs were implemented. I think it's actually very rare for derechos to have winds of 115 mph or higher. I guess as far as the PDS SVA, I see your point. I guess they could have issued a PDS SVA for lower Michigan, but that doesn't have the same "punch" as a CDW for the purposes of entertainment. Anyway, I don't expect many of these scenarios to be totally accurate to meteorology. I have a guilty pleasure for disaster movies and EAS scenarios despite how some of those can throw scientific accuracy into a shredder.
And true to form, Flint (and according to a map of the state shown in one of the Season 2-3 episodes, Royal Woods since it's near Flint) is about the only major city in Central Michigan spared by the Squall from Hell, at least according to the "Fort Wayne Snow-rencho warning" scene, which shows the squall as it goes through Southern Lower Michigan. Apparently the hell-spawn passed to the direct West. It also seemed to spare Detroit too.
