    LT Wright is one of my favorites. To compare grinds I actually purchased two SOSPES... one Scandinavian and one saber. Also O1 vs 3V. For Scandinavia grinds I prefer O1.

      Which grind did you prefer overall? The scandi or saber?!

    I have this blade with a saber grind and brown rustic micarta scales. I sent mine out to have a custom kydex sheath made for it from AZ Welke, so that way I could carry it scout style. It has become one of my favorite belt knives.

    Tops knives in 1095 are bulletproof. Their heat treat, quality of manufacture, amazing. Chris was the first reviewer I got into. He introduced me to Brother Tac, we all juggle knives, gideon's tactical, every day tactical vids, on and on. Regarding cpm-3v, I bought a bark river Crusader, three days later I bought another one. Edge doesn't chip under extreme use. It rolls, if you abuse it. After 2 hours working on it, it rolled back. LT Wright, Bark river and Tops, SOLD!

    I've got the LTWK GNS in saber grind and it's sweet. LT's saber grinds are great for carving and splitting. Crazy sharp and super durable. Can't go wrong with a LT Wright Knife.

  • @OtherThanIntendedPurpose

    I recently received an LT Wright Bushcrafter in 3V. and I have to say, I was amazed at how much it really does change the performance of the blade. also, you talk about the spine, I swear that spine was sharper than some knife edges I have seen right out of the box. in my review, I had a hunk of madrone ( VERY hard wood, especially older dry pieces like I had) I was shaving some fluff with the spine, and talking at the same time, when I looked down, I had shaved a knot down smooth.

    See this is why I bought this knife, because of your former video on the Scandi. The ergo's the look and I dig Sabre Grinds. Now to watch the video. And kydex compliments of Gary. Also as per your recommendation

  • @marcrhodes7177
    @marcrhodes7177 Před 6 lety

    Good to see makers taking my criticism to heart and creating a knife with a more versatile blade shape , the best tool steel for the money (forget 01 and d2), some choil to protect your hand from slipping onto the edge, and grippier micarta. I never get credit for these things. Anyway.......

  • @hamedizzy5137
    @hamedizzy5137 Před 4 lety

    I got mine in a few weeks ago. I put a higher convex secondary bevel on it. This knife is the one for me. I have a bunch of barkys, which I love still, and this outback has the best handle for my hands (size L/XL depending on brand). It feels closer to the bravo 2 gen 2. Love the convex I put on this knife. It now has a more stable edge and it's more versatile in that it acts both like a scandi or a flat grind when you want it to. Awsome!!

  • @PCJorgy

    She’s a beaut Clark!
    Love spear points, and I really love how “tall” the blade is, but now that I have a proper edge on my Bark River Bushcrafter, I don’t think I’ll be switching it out for anything for a bit.

  • @MichaelQuigley-fy5rc
    @MichaelQuigley-fy5rc Před 6 lety

    Well Chris I WAS going to get the Jessmuk but you had to go and show me this one. Oh well I guess maybe I have room for both. Those white spacers really set that thing off, beautiful.

  • @Survivalsteel
    @Survivalsteel Před 6 lety

    3v has been my favorite steel for quite a few years now. I think the only steel that might take it's place after I get a blade in this steel is Cruwear but I don't know yet. My favorite knife is in 3v. It's the Bark River SOG bowie. Of course is considered a combat knife but I was surprised how versatile it actually is. I can take down small saplings, baton the toughest of woods and do very fine task like feather sticks, traps and carving eat utensils. I thought the guard would get in the way when choking up on the blade to do fine work but the guard is short enough not to dig into your hand but long enough so your hand has no chance of sliding onto the blade. You can also hold the blade with your pointer finger on the spine, finger next to the pointer under the ricasso and your thumb on the side of the blade in front of the guard. This grip is perfect for this knife to help skin animals after you gut them. Its not ideal for any of these task but it works surprisingly well compared to other combat knives.

  • @estima8tor1
    @estima8tor1 Před 6 lety

    There's nothing wrong with a saber grind, it's a good, tough all purpose grind. 3V is a great steel but it's a real pain in the ass to field sharpen. I recently picked up an LT Wright Genesis in a saber grind with A2 steel, maple handles and solid brass pins at TKC - it's become my favorite belt knife for doing pretty much everything. It was a little pricey but well worth it IMO.

    • @rhinooningo2865
      @rhinooningo2865 Před 6 lety +4

      The handle is completely different than the Genesis. Blade is the same or similar, but the Genesis grip is a very simple "broom handle" type.

    I agree with having to buy a 3V knife before you bash people that do buy expensive knives. I bought my first knife because of your videos ; the Becker BK7. Javier- my opinion is that a saber gives you the most "all-round". There are probably videos discussing the pros and cons of the grinds. I like a convex or scandi-vex for my uses. For versatility and strength, most will say saber grind.

    Saber vs, Scandi?
    I have a Condor plus two Moras (Eldris and not sure).
    I wanted to save up to get an Esee but should I save up to get an LTWK instead and if so what are their top 2 or 3 designs?
    Please keep mixing it up. Someone like me will start with a $20 Mora then a $40 Condor and then maybe a $200 LTWK or I might stop at $40 but this is a process for most of us. What I can't stand is cheap junk from the 99 cent store videos unless that person does an overnight with that stuff.
