good Video well explained, there is another way, I changed the Alternator without removing engine mounting PS pump, or tension pulley. I can see this method gives you a bit more room to manipulate the Alternator and unless you got a trolley jack this seems a lot of work. The method of removing the front Tee shaped bracket that holds the bonnet catch is relatively simply, just the Fan, water bottle and front under bumper shield and few wire clips.. the Alternator squeezes out between the Radiator and engine, just needs tilted forward a bit.., I place strong cardboard on the radiator face to protect against any bumps a scrapes. Was easy enough to install new alternator with care. Cheers..

Great video! But I just did one on a 06 CRV and all I removed was the power steering pump and the coolant reservoir, the hardest bolt was bottom left, after you can get this bolt out you are golden! I seen another video and he explained how to replace the alternator without removing too many parts and I followed and was a piece of cake after the bottom left bolt came loose!!!

They make it so difficult to change a common failure part in these cars. Amazing.

On purpose! All so you take it to the dealer and get raked over the coals.

If you go under the crv and the one bolt of the support and the upper bolts you can move out of your way and you don't have to take the adjustor off keep up the good work making videos and have a blessed day today 🙏

The narrator/mechanic is great. This is a great video. Step by step. Follow at your own pace. Very slight variations on the 2006 . I bought the altenator at 1 A Auto as suggested. Arrived next day. I bought a new tensioner pulley assembly, and serpentine belt from Honda OEM. Thank you for this video. Saved me a ton . Take your time. Do it right.

The Honda engineers were real jerks by not taking maintenance into account. The rigid part of that A/C line was my nemesis in preventing me from getting my sockets in line with the lower bolts. I highly recommend using only 1/4” sockets for those two bolts; However, as in my case with 200K plus on the engine, the bolts were dry and corroded and thus had to bend the rigid lower A/C line and use 3/8” sockets to gain the necessary force and leverage.

I knew at the 46 second mark when he used a floor jack to raise the engine this was not going to be a typical alternator job. The explanation and video shots were super helpful. All the 1AAuto videos are top rate!
Is there any concern jacking up the motor from under the oil pan, like bending it or damaging the gasket?

Any maintenance on this specific vehicle sucks the starter was inside the engine too. My Honda CRV has 320,000 miles on it. I am now contemplating leaving the alternator in as it is still charging the battery enough to start it if I leave my lights on though for a few min the battery dies. May be a battery maintainer would be easier in my case anybody have any input?

Watch for the nut behind the tensioner to fall out. Had to search for it for 10 min.

Several times you used the word that sounds like "peatong". Please spell it so I can look it up. By the way, one of the best real-world part replacement videos I have ever seen! Great job!

Just buy a new car. This is the worst design by Honda. I've changed these alternators out and this is the biggest headache.

    • @stevenm.hollis4429

And I might add… That if Honda had any brains, they could’ve made these small urban assault vehicles with about a 200 hp to 220 hp with a resigned and accessible engine, put some wheels on them, push bar, made some nice off-road accessories and have the ability to disengage the all-wheel-drive… And they would’ve sold a crap load of these cars. That’s what people are doing to these cars now! Making a little urban assault vehicle or bug out vehicles, putting tuners, headers, intakes, snorkels, small lift kits… The list goes on. The AEV market is huge! Friends of mine and I saw the potential of this little car years ago when the first generation came out. But Honda in their planned obsolescence thinking… Well I don’t think I need to say anymore.
