Dude I love you! I knew those status symbol purchases weren't worth the money...now I have PROOF!!!
Right 😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂 that’s a good thing to help your envy when you’re poor…. Sad.
Nothing is worth anything. It's all a made up concept that we all abide by.
no duh sherlock. you still trying to find out if water is wet?
You have proof? People who can afford luxury goods aren’t being tricked into buying them. You can’t afford them, so you use this video to make yourself feel better about that fact.
Love how you add “If you buy it for status…”
Most rich people wouldn't buy sruff like that...but poor people would :)
@@HAOS5HD This is so overused, lots of rich people have this stuff all over their houses. "Poor' people aren't buying $500 wallets. Especially since fakes exist.
Ouch!
@HAOS5HD I see this comment a lot about rich people. I'm not rich, but I've been around a lot of rich people throughout my life, and I've seen many of them carrying LV.
@wilowhisp Your right ! Rich people buy that too...but only the ones that haven't earned the money themselves (old money) .
Nobody that earned alot of money by working hard will buy stuff like that.
It's for poor people to feel rich and for those who are rich but are insecure.
I'm 46 and this is a perfect example of something my mother used to tell me. "Some people have more dollars than sense"
Some people like having fashion sense instead of common sense.
Brilliantly put!
Very smart woman your mother is!
Or more credit card debt
In my country we say “ people with more money than brains”
This man... is doing a good job by opening the eyes of millions of people. Big luxury brands do not even pay a fair price to laborers and other people who are producing leather.
Yep when people find out how much Hermes artisans get paid for producing those 10000 euro bags, they completely lose it 😂 it's pretty crazy but the power of the brand is undeniable. Sadly, not many Hermes customers would buy an identical bag from the same Hermes artisans without all the extra stuff that comes with it: status, packaging, the shopping experience and lastly the huge brag it all entails 🤦♀️
A "fair price" to producers is whatever they're willing to work for in a competitive market. They aren't forced to work for that company (unless it's communist China).
I just found this channel today. And I’m already invested bc you don’t bs anyone. Thanks so much for doing what you do!
He is the best, tells it how it is. ❤
Same here 😂👍🏻
Honesty and integrity and transparency--thank you‼️
My grandfather always used to say that, 'Price is what you give and value is what you get'.
Always think about the value you will get then deciding if the price is worth it gets easy.
I’d rather buy a better one that Lasts for years than buying a cheap one and it doesn’t last longer. My LV leather wallet is more than 10 years now
@@marlynguinn7311 I couldn’t agree more. I have wallets that are over 20 years old from LV and Mulberry. I don’t have any non luxury slg’s that lasted anywhere near 10 years. Conclusion, money well spent on my luxury slg’s! 🤷🏾♀️
Finally some smart people here
Love your honesty. The logical explanation is eye opening for those who buy aspirational luxury items.
I just stumbled across this channel and I can’t tell you how much satisfaction I get watching you cut into these purses. Thank you so much for breaking it down into how valuable they are.
Thank-you for opening the masses eyes. Now if only some one was doing that for cell phones and cars.
What a stupid comment 🤦♂️
i was digging in my mom's closet for bags recently and fell in love with leathers, your video is so helpful as I look forward to searching for nice leather bags someday
TOTALLY RIGHT!! 💕 All my life I have bought beautiful, high quality, handmade leather goods from Spain, Italy, and Portugal, exclusively. I get the best products at a reasonable price. Call me a fool, but I’m the one laughing. 🥂
@🎸 BooGeebabee They’re not cheap, by any means, just not ridiculously expensive like Louis Vuitton. That’s why I said “reasonable”. Happy New Year!
Could you kindly spill some quality brands.. cheers
Wow these videos are making me question my entire purchasing history
To be fair people aren't buying LV, prada, chanel, etc for value of the materials. It's all about the brand/status. Same with like Cartier jewelry, cheap amount of gold but the brand makes it 100x more.
I always look at the luxury stuff I buy, I know the material is top notch but it isnt $1000+ worth if materials (except maybe the exotic ones). I bought for the unique designs, the prestige, and the happy feel every time I use them
@@teresarr07yeah but when you have an estimation about the real price of the piece, I would feel stupid paying for the status.
This personally helped me to better spend my money 🤑
@teresarr07 it's not just the status, it's also the design. I think people are really overlooking the power of aesthetics, especially for those who are wealthy. Aesthetics are the reason why rich folks buy tiny inconvenient NYC apartments with spectacular views.
I love these videos so honest and trustworthy!
You're amazing. The internet needs this.
I’m so OVER Louis Vuitton! It’s EVERYWHERE, so many fakes around, the celebs and influencers get it for free and the middle class pay for the brand. Thanks so much for bringing awareness to rest of us who still has a common sense and respect for our hard earned money. 🙏
Say you’re poor without actually saying you’re poor:
This Master Craftsman is a gem!
There's a huge percentage of fashion victims in the world.
One born every minute
I appreciate you respecting both people who would purchase and those who would scoff at the idea
Loved the conclusion. Perfectly summed up.
No way! I would never spend my money on a LV just for “status” 😂 That’s ridiculous! A wallet is a wallet. I rather have money IN my wallet than to spend a bunch on one!
Why are you watching this video then? 😮
@@bc_usahuh? Clearly that went over your head.
If it gives you great pleasure using it for the next 5+ years then it may be worth it to some. (I’m still using a little credit card holder for over 10+ years. It was pricy (for me), but I still admire it every time I use it.)
Thanks for this breakdown 🙏🏿☺️
Can you do video on what brands you recommend for quality leather at an affordable price? Thanks!😊
We need to buy HIS leather products! I'm sure it's a fair price for a real quality item.
@@TheGrandFanelli that part!!!
I didn’t know he had any! Would gladly buy his
I Love your last statement, I prefer quality leather over status.
10 dollars for labor. It would be good to know the amount of time and the rate/hour he’s using. So in the states, I think the LVMH employees get about 15- 22/hour at the factory which is cheaper than making in France so that took less than 30 minutes to make. That seems awfully quick
Most of the people in the comments on Tanners videos are extremely gullible and will believe anything he says.
The glazing alone would take quite a bit of extra time for example. People also don’t understand there are vastly different quality levels of leather dyeing and tanning. Tanner himself is extremely ignorant on the subject. It’s kind of hilarious how easily his videos dupe people who want to believe they just got the inside scoop on something with his “special knowledge”.
@@ramieal-hazar2438foreal. My friend is a professional saddle maker and the number one supplier for high end gun holsters/knife sheathes. He’s seen this guys channel and laughed at how ridiculous this guy prices leather goods/ labor. Especially as this guy is sub par at best at leather work.
You are so in denial, he literally did the whole breakdown for you and your still but, but, but @@ramieal-hazar2438
meanwhile the CEO of LVMH is next to elon musk in wealth..
$10 in labor does seem way low considering LV products are all make in France, Italy, and Spain.
$10 in labor if it was made in China maybe. Not in Italy or France.
I'm not going to pretend LV isn't overpriced but to say you could make this wallet for $30 just seems idiotic. LV financials are public domain and they report a profit margin around 60-70%. Not 1000%.
This guy seems to have a vendetta against LV for some reason, never has anything but bad things to say about it.
These videos are so quiet compared to other channels' videos. Always have to turn up the volume.
First - i really like the message- it is up to a person to decide if they want a status symbol or a good wallet. Second - I am too lazy to go through comments so I am not sure if anyone mentioned this. What we forget is they also invest a lot of money in package, design of the product, distribution, people who work in boutiques.
I don’t own any of this level luxury products and I don’t think I ever will because I actually do find prices to be ridiculous , but I do think that calculation is maybe as not as simple.
Love these videos. I hope more people watch and learn.
I subscribed for the simple fact that you rip apart name brand items 👌😂
$10 for the labor wtf dude that's not even minimum wage in many states even here in the US lol
They're made my machines and not people. How many can they create in a certain timeframe. That's why the labour cost is $10.
@@Baggravation no they aren't machine made. many luxury handbags are hand made. even if for arguments sake we say machine made. there is still human labor to feed the leather, etc into the machine, quality check each step of the way and so on. that still adds up as labor cost. my Stella McCartney and ysl bags clearly state hand made btw.
even if you put $100 for labor per wallet it'll still be under $200 worth tho
@@ninjaturtles12121 how do you think these wallets are made? Their majority made in Italy which doesn’t have a great living wage anyway. Even then wallets like this are still put through sewing machines making it very easy and quick to make such products. If you don’t know how manufacturing works then don’t comment. I for one have a degree in fashion, manufacturing and production. There isn’t 1 person making a wallet, there are several people who assemble different parts at a fast pace to keep up with production. At the end there is 1 person and 1 machine that does the final assembly. There is nothing different from a Italian textiles factory to a Chinese factory the only difference is better living standards and a little more time taken. wallets are also made from left over fabric from larger bulk cutouts to reduce wastage and to maximise profits. I for one would never bother buying such rubbish 😂 so $10/ £10/ 10 Euros is about right for 1 wallet during manufacturing. That love and care you think your products get from such manufacturers isn’t really there. It’s not haute couture, it really isn’t that luxury especially from Louie Vuitton. You want quality and 1 person making your bag/ wallet go to a actual independent leather worker who makes things by hand not to a brand in it for money like this, because all your really buying is their left over scrap fabric turned into a wallet by several people costing very little to make with more polyester then natural material.
Skilled artisans are not paid 10$ theyre probably paid 30-60$/hr LV is not just going to hire illegal immigrants or kids to do the job
LABEL LOYALTY IS DYING AND I AM GLAD IT IS. YOUR VIDEO IS A TRUTH SERUM VIDEO IS AMAZING. I WILL BUY A GOOD LEATHER WALLET WITHOUT THE STATUS LABEL. GREAT VIDEO. JUNE 15 2023
I like how clear you are about your opinions.
“…authentication shi-chip” intentional or not, this shi-z had me cracking up! 😅
People don't talk about this bus LV aftersales service is god tier.
That is why I didn’t buy new in store, I though only kirigami set which is I think worth the money to spent. The rest I owned by buying vintage either Chanel, Prada, LV and more.. 6 years ago I added in my collection with full of vintage and I made money along the way when I wanted to change something new. Now I’m almost done buying luxury bag, except when something catching my eyes and worth the money. He is totally rock it every time he reveals the luxury brands. ❤
I have a Louis Vuitton bag and the handles already came out twice and each time I keep sending it back and it keeps messing up on me I will never spend any more money on Louis Vuitton bags it's not even worth it
and I have 7 lv bags and there was nothing like that.
@@KseniaTLVyou bought status seven times and have more money than brains. LOSER…lol
@@KseniaTLV exactly I’m pretty sure Zelia Ferreira’s are knockoffs or reps.
The chicks mad they own cheap overpriced shit haha
What bag is it? I have quite a few leather and canvas bags but have had no such issues. My CA and I inspect every purchase thoroughly as they know I'm a perfectionist.
I’ve got the same exact wallet! Thank god it was a gift
Keep doin what you're doin babe!
LV bosses must be shaking and sweating after all of these review😂😂😂
Where have I been!? Just come across this video, and it’s eye-opening 👍🏻
Thank you for what you do!!
I am going to your Etsy shop now and buy some good quality leather wallets and bag’s because all I care is about a good leather and man craftsmanship that will last me a long time I careless about brands and lux names they are useless
Love how you give honest reviews about products as well as the estimated manufacturing cost to make the goods. The price is market for status only. The mark up on these designer goods are outrageous.
Honest reviews 😂😂😂😂😂😂
You’re awesome man, keep it up!
I own the pocket organizer in canvas, bought 3 years ago. Even it's a piece from men's collection, I love it so much. Never bought in leather as it was too much. Now, my PO is up in price of 30% than what I paid for.
there is no men's collection

Buying status lol it’s sad there are people out there buying this thinking others look up to them or something 😂
It’s sad you think people don’t buy nice things for themselves and simply don’t give a shit what you or others think or “look up to”😂😂
Where do you get vachetta for $10 a sqft? Maybe if it is natural but still I don't think that is correct. Maybe if you bought a whole side. But buying pre cut is like $18-$20 a sqft.
All large manufacturers buy in bulk so yes it would be more like 8 dollars a sq ft luxury over charge
My husband has a Prada wallet & has had it for 12 yrs & it hasn’t broke. It looks new. The cheep ones would rip & he’d have to buy new ones. I convinced him it was worth it.$400.00 HE LOVES IT I WOULD SAY HE WOULD HAVE REPLACED THE CHEAP ONES ABOUT 7 times by now if not more… so the high end ones are worth it..
Thank you for your videos. I hope you don’t get cancelled by haters.
Can you do Mont Blac, pls? 🫶🏼
What does the burn test show you?
Testing the synthetic level / grade of leather. If the product catches fire and burns then it is synthetic.
@@gsaa02 I'm confused why he needs to do that as a leather maker. You can literally tell leather by looking at the grain. The burn test does nothing and I'm not even a leather maker... He also assigns the same price in these videos to all leathers but I want to see him actually go and buy leather based on his prices and to make these things. His costs assumptions make absolutely no sense. Good quality leather is not that cheap.
@@rimun5235 I think he also compares the quality and ratio of what it is made up of. He's advising that what you're paying for is simply a label/name. Maybe make a comment to the op and ask to compare the quality of different types of leather.
@@rimun5235some leather is real leather grain glued onto fake or lower quality leather and looking at the grain wouldnt help discern a real full grain from genuine leather with top grain glued on
What an eye-opener!
Wow! Loving your channel. You are confirming what i have thought. Quality over status!
Volume discount for leather 5 dollars, cheap labour in child sweat shops 1 dollars,I’d chip 10 cents……. Sold for 535 dollars for stupid status symbols…..vanity is truly the devils favourite sin.
I think you misspelled Greed because that what you just described is greed not vanity
They’re actually made from Texas cows on Texas ranches in Texas workshops. The only bags made overseas now are from exotic materials and in limited collections.
Um the wallet is made in France not China. 😂😂😂
@@bc_usa are you sure about that ?
Dear Tanner, you omitted the embossed logotypes, i.e. the monogram pattern. I imagine the machine that does it also needs to be designed, calibrated, manned and so on. Plus the whole designing aspect - that's another person employed, another set of tools (a pc, some software etc.). Also, in Europe, employers cover healthcare and pension contribution for the workers. Furthermore, there are taxes, electricity and water bills for the factory and so on. Your estimates are more fitted to the small, few people-operated businessess.
I feel like these accessories that we use every single day should either be very utilitarian, or look good, or embody a part of you. Like glasses, keychains, and wallets.
I bought my current wallet on a lark, but I love it. Handmade by a small store. The outer lining is made of recycled bike tyres and the inner lining is leather with a subtle orange finish.
Bike tyres are extremely durable. No scratches and it's become very soft. I've had it for close to 2 years. I love it.
I have a rose anvil 120$ wallet and it's a beast I've had it for over 2 years now
I knew it and they charge all that money .
People often misunderstood, material cost and total cost to sell the product. Yes I agree they’re over priced but there’s a lot of things that goes to it beside the material cost.
Can you please elaborate 🙏
Exactly. Tanner’s figures are way off and anyone who works in the industry can tell he doesn’t understand top tier leather tanning production. This guy is duping people into thinking they know better.
This man is changing the game 🤘🏾I think I’d rather take my business to a small leatherman (?? Idk what they are called) and get same quality work done vs these companies, you are doing a great service here
We are getting a good lesson in quality and status. Hats off to you!
LV leather is the best leather i have compared so far. the price deserves the brand and kind of leather is outstanding compared to chanel and gucci
Designer items like these are often never "worth the money" if you're just looking at the quality, build and labor and that's coming from someone who buys designer items. It's about the status symbol that's what it's always been about, when you start talking about $500 dollars for a wallet or $1250 for a Chanel wallet you're obviously paying a huge amount for the branding. Most folks who buy this stuff are well aware. These aren't for people just looking for a quality leather wallet, you could find that from an unknown name for half the price.
Exactly .. we buy them because they’re pretty 😂 ❤🤷🏼♀️
@@jennifermcmillan2588 would you do the same for non designer items? and i mean the same as in you won’t question their build quality or worth as long as you think they’re pretty? i’m genuinely curious hope it doesn’t come off offensive 😂
Omg!! THANK YOU!!!... I always said that about all the super extra expensive brands!!
I dont have this wallet because Im not fan of leather, but I have the lv key cles, which I bought preloved(190cad) and its my everyday wallet, which I use for 2 years and ongoing. I always use cost per wear with all my items to determine their value. So its not a waste of money for me. 😊 I didnt buy for status, I just like the canvas quality and the joy it brings me since I really like it. 😅
The type of leather used comes from a vicuna camel. They are actually protected animal in the Andes. Because they can not be farm raised and are only able to be sheared every 2 years by local indigenous people. So the leather is actually very expensive.
People need to send this and tag every damn narcissistic "influencer" on social media!
Stop buying this bs and start supporting real people and small business!
But small businessw usually can't afford to send 'those particular' influencers freebies so they probably won't support them
@@gunmetal2445 The sad truth, unless there are influencers (only) promoting the items they buy themselves. I understand how it works but honestly the whole giving-freebies-to-influencers thing annoys me
Love your Chanel 💯👍
Hiiii,
Your videos are so cool.
The question is : where can we buy the real leather ???
That’s why Louis Vuitton isn’t known for their leather…but keep trying to push it out while price increasing their canvas.
I'm subbing just to support you buying these. great content, dude
I love your videos as they remind us what we are paying for . But my heart bleeds when I see you destroying so ruthlessly those pieces . Keep them coming 😂😂

Thanks for showing us the quality ….
Love these. Best of all opened mild for human thirst for statue in a crazy world.👍👌
Thank you for doing these videos
This is the content I love
Thank you for all of the explanations.
I Love this channel so much
Love the breakdown and this is opens the door wide open for leather guys/gals to step up and make a quality leather wallet with a fit and finish that is far superior than this wallet I can guarantee that your stuff will sell like hotcakes, all u need to do is spend money on marketing and getting ur name out there coz these companies are spending a ton of money relentlessly on getting their name out. Lastly open a store in the heart of the city or better yet next to LV or Hermes and or others. At the end of the day it’s all about perception just like how we pay more for people in Wall Street than people who works as a bank teller at ur local bank.
This dudes videos are so cool
Please do a review for YSL leather too. Thank you.
Honestly when he tells me that a high status item is made well it doesn't deter me from it!
I’m glad I didn’t let myself fell into ‘scam’ buying luxury brand. I prefer any goods where no logo/brand showing! Some goods really not worth the money at all.
I work at a second-hand store. we get in some LV sometimes and it goes fast because we authenticate all of our luxury accessories thru a 3rd party. We sold a wallet for $350 today and retail would probably be like 500-800. I took the pictures of it for our website and put it in the showcase. It felt cheap and flimsy. idk why people love it so much.
Something so satisfy about watching him destroy the bags with so much respect at the same time
Love this channel
Wow, and I sell my wallets for 10 to 15$ a pop. All veg tan leather and hand stitched and hand dyed,
The leather costs 5$ per sqft and the wallet has no more than 0.6 sqft (or 3$) plus the thread, sliking materials, and corner dyes that is 5$ in total.
For the rest I can talk to a bulgarian workshop that makes the best stamps I've ever seen and make whatever pattern a person wants.
Expensive products like a wallet for 500$ should not exist, when the materials and good payed workers can make it for 50$.
P.S. Love your channel. Ty for these reviews.
I love this. 🤣🤣 I'm in bag groups and they go on and on about that leather. I got a dupe with leather that I think Is not only better looking but at a reasonable mark up. I'm into tote bags so mine is a dupe of the neverfull without the markings but made as large. very sturdy. I use for airline travel. paid less than a grand. I've had it for 5 years and always get compliments....without the status look and name attached. lol
People need to see your channel, those new rich guys cannot believe it
These videos are awesome
I know I’m paying for the status symbol. I could be wrong, but I think most people who buy designer are very well aware of this and don’t mind at all. Sure, I expect attention to detail, nice seams, symmetry and so on. And I value having items made in Europe as opposed to Asia. I also expect a certain experience when I shop in luxury stores. But at the end of the day, I’m not gonna sit here and justify the price by mentioning materials or even craftsmanship. I know exactly what I’m paying for and I am happy to do so. It’s something that brings me joy. I have a display case for my bags, I use them all but also take great care of them. I generally buy more subtle items, not with massive logos or monogram, because I don’t need the world to know what I’m carrying, it’s for myself. I did grow up poor, and always dreamed of having certain things that seemed unattainable. Now I can have them and they genuinely make me happy. Maybe that’s the reason, but I also think it’s just a natural interest that I have, because as a child I would spend hours playing fashion games and looking at designer websites.
Most people, no matter their budget, will find things they’re willing to splurge on, whatever that may look like for them. For some it may mean spending $2, for some $20, and for others it might mean spending $20000 or more.
People are allowed to do what they want with their money and we’re all overpaying for everything we buy, anyway. We all have different interests and values, and there’s no sense in judging. We don’t know what’s in other people’s bank accounts, or in their minds. Just be financially responsible, and also treat yourself to things that make you happy, whether it’s food, bags, furniture or whatever!
Very good info, thank you!
Great content man
New subscriber for sure!
The price of 535 dollars is not of the leather, it is of the brand, it is of the mind, it is of the thoughts and service, it is not for nothing that Louis Vuitton is the number one brand in the world.
I work at Lois Vuitton and I can assure you. I will never buy an ugly bag from them seriously is a huge waste of money🤦🏽
If you really want craftsmanship go with the Japanese brand Porter I love my wallet from them.
