    They're taking "no more bed slingers" to an extreme if they're so committed they're willing to torch their own printers.

    It is crazy they never noticed this during testing...

      I guess a lack of experience in what to look out for when it comes to bedslingers. Interestingly, the strain relief of the A1 Mini seems a little different. You would think they would use the same design for the same type of printer.

    • @ZeeLobby
      @ZeeLobby Před 4 měsíci +4

      Happened with prusa at first too. Also tends to happen when you push it up against a wall. possible all their test printers just sit in racks

    • @andreas.grundler
      @andreas.grundler Před 4 měsíci +3

      @@ZeeLobby That would also explain why the spool holder on their Core XY machines is still on the back of the printer instead of the side. With a rack in the middle of the room, you have easy access from the back. If the printer is against the wall, it's a different story.

      @@thenewmodelworkshop5743not legally, also not legally allowed to leave extension leads out etc, some LV stuff is OK but our laws are very strict(and moronic). There's a fairly widespread conspiracy theory that it's more about making sure the tradies keep getting paid, rather than in the interest of safety.
      Funnily enough we don't have a standout record for safety in electrical installations, seems pretty clear that a more relaxed solution that aims to inform people of their liability would go a long way towards actually improving the safety of our electrical installations in Australia.

    *Laughs in thoroughly tested prusa with no recalls*
    Bambu lab taking a play from the anet A8 playbook in 2024...that's embarrassing. But watching the mental gymnastic of their cult trying to defend this or spin it as a good thing that BL is "correcting" this is just nuts. Should have never happened in the 1st place. This isn't surprising considering they never cared about the fire hazard their printers had last year with that long 3 min thermal runaway timer.

    • @BeefIngot
      @BeefIngot Před 3 měsíci

      Prusa not too long ago had issues with thermal runaway on MK3s machines they needed a fix for. These "thoroughly tested" machines have been out for more than half a decade.

    • @dancoon7653
      @dancoon7653 Před 4 měsíci

      There's a lot of truth to that. Just don't think asking customers to play with mains electricity is a great idea. They should just do a 100% recall of every A1 out there and get them all fixed. A pain and costly yes but we are talking about the potential to start fires here, someone could die!!!

    • @andreas.grundler
      @andreas.grundler Před 3 měsíci

      Bambu Lab has admitted that there is a problem, but from experience we know that companies rarely admit the full extent of a problem. Images have surfaced that suggest that the cable itself is not protected well enough for a cable through which the main voltage flows. If this is true, then the strain relief issue is only part of a larger problem.
