UNBELIEVABLE Dresser Makeover- Extreme Furniture Flip

  • YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS TRANSFORMATION!
I picked this sad little mid 1960s Viscol dresser up on the side of the road in the rain- I was lucky to grab it before it got entirely drenched! A bunch of repairs, paint, stain, and two days later, it's been completely revamped and is STUNNING!
A side note: there's a point in this video where I mention "I'm fairly new at this".. I'm actually referring to making CZcams videos, not furniture! I've actually been doing furniture full time for a year and a half, and almost full time for about three years prior to that! Just wanted to clear that up! :-)

I AM a wood worker by trade, and I have to give you a huge round of applause. You did a great job improvising to make the repairs that needed to be made, instead of trying to hide them. I see alot of people do things horribly wrong, and teach people that way. However, I caught myself saying "good job" out loud several times during your repairs. So pat yourself on the back. Backyard stuff sometimes is the only way lol. 👏👏👏

Greetings from Hobart, Tasmania. This turned out great. Just 2 quick tips. If you have a screw without a head, set your drill in reverse and clamp down the jaws of the chuck onto the screw and slowly turn it out - should come out no problem. The second tip for clamping long pieces (when you don't have long clamps) is to use ratchet straps (in your case cheap ones about 25mm wide) with scrap spacer blocks to protect edges. Looking forward to watching your other projects.

Oh those handles...!! Thank you! When I purchase/obtain a piece, I will send the owner an update of their previous piece. One said that if they had not gotten rid of the piece due to it's sheer size, that they would have bought back the piece that they gave me for free. It was one of the best compliments I could have gotten, and I let them know I had actually donated it to a family in need.

I've been binge watching your videos, and I just want to give you some feedback. I love how you do voiceover instead of talking real-time. It means you can speed up what are really slow and sometimes tedious processes, but still show exactly how you do them. I love that you explain your repairs, wether its a highly skilled one or a botch up one. That really helps with the learning process! I feel your videos are just the right length, you show everything that needs to be shown, without any boring filler content. You have a really good eye for how to bring out the most beautiful potential of a piece, and I love your taste. I am left feeling inspired, awed, and that I may have learned some valuable tips along the way. Thanks very much for sharing!

This one turned out amazing. The ONLY thing I think might look really cool is if you did the natural wood for the rounded blocks on the bottom drawer. Either way, great job!

I really really like how this turned out. I just moved into a log cabin and my partner and I are renovating…I personally have done a lot of renovation during my lifetime, and yet I still see new ways of handling issues in diy videos and I love how you really go over your pieces and aren’t afraid to fix them up and replace pieces with bits from other furniture. Great job upcycling !

Getting a bit of an Art Deco vibe from that piece. Nice work!
There are few things I find more relaxing than watching people in their workshops. Childhood memories of my Dad in his workshop.
My little sister really wanted a rocking horse when she was little so my Dad went into his workshop with some old scaffolding planks and made her one. She rocked about on it with such glee she broke the horses neck!

I have been slowly - and unsystematically - working my way through your videos, because watching you make sad, tired, often broken furniture into things of beauty brings me peace and joy. This is another yowza piece, and I loved your reveal. I watched the whole process, but the reveal still surprised me!
This tells me that you are not just good with furniture. You are *also* a damned fine videographer and story teller. Great work, and thank you again!

I’m always astounded seeing the before and after. The worst wood is better than the best plastic any day! Loving that matte black on the hardware!
