Some people are put off by the sexual innuendo in a lot of the Filipino parlor games. But I look at it this way. For Filipino culture, as long as it is done in the context of marriage, the act of procreation or creating a family is celebrated in a fun way to encourage family members to have more children and help celebrate the coming of a future member of the family. It helps promote the subject of procreation as a natural part of life and not become a taboo subject. The contests then are subliminal suggestions to family members to be the first to add a new member to the clan with a fruitful reward for the winner, all of which will be celebrated in a joyful and festive atmosphere. And what better time to celebrate it than during Christmas when most families all get together for reunions.
