- Waves breaking into the cockpit to flat calms, Sailing 500 miles out into the Atlantic Ocean on our way to Namibia gave us quite an experience. 30 knots of wind and surfing at 10 knots in the middle of the night was balanced by a flat calm beautiful sunrise over the desert dunes. It feels amazing to be out sailing across oceans once more on our voyage around the planet. The start of a new adventure.
We have been sailing around the world for 6 years after setting off from England in 2016 on board our 37ft sail boat Florence. Join us as we share the highs, lows, and challenges of travelling around the world by boat, Sailing offshore across the Oceans and exploring remote locations with our own little tiny house. Boat life out at sea on the ocean and off the grid.

Absolutely stunning episode , as we have all become so used to. Your videography and storytelling makes for compulsory viewing. Without exception, you have become the finest sailing channel: honest, ethical, technically educational and overall totally inspirational. No fluff and bubble, just great entertainment. You two are the very best. Go well and, thank you!
Yeah, it's hard to put a finger on it exactly, but Matt and Amy are just so straightforward that you get directly to the point of the adventure and gain an understanding of the complexities of sailing across oceans while getting stunning footage of what ocean crossings would look like if you were there to do it yourself. I agree: Best sailing channel. And I watch a few of them.
Always a good day when Florence shows up!
I see they gave you a water salute as you left!
We were honored by the grand send off, it was either that or them shooing us off!
Hi guys the quality of your videos is simply outstanding. The clarity and variety of shot is so good. Thanks again for sharing. What a coast line.
they are the best with water shots.. far beyond any other channel I watch.
@@jonunya3128 I cannot argue with that 👌
That sunrise over Namibia brought tears to my eyes. How beutiful! Thank you for sharing your amazing adventure :) Love you guys!
I like how Matt and Amy show actual sailing (Sam Holmes, too). They show the skill and preparation required - they inadvertently show that it's not all bikinis and island idylls.
I'd love to crew on Florence just for learning practical sailing skills.
If only Sam weren't so funky on board. Maybe it's a nerdy bachelor thing.
@@earthangel8730 Sam just needs to drill holes in things. It's usually his boat.
I love that part about never saying goodbye!
That sunrise over the coastline of Namibia might be the most beautiful pieces of scenery I have ever seen.
Can't even imagine how incredible that must've looked with your own eyes!
Your's is indeed the very best sailing experience. Most natural, well explained and has the ability to draw the viewer in. I felt that I was with with you viewing the coast of Namibia. Thank you for your abilities to have us aboard.
Best title I've ever seen for a sailing video!
I am so happy you got to spend some time in my country, and am so glad to hear that my countrymen welcomed you well, even if I did not get to meet you in person. And I am also excited to hear what you found in Namibia, the country of my birth, close to my heart. I hope you had a wonderful time!
Fair winds and greetings from Velddrif South Africa.
Gosh- it's great to see you both on the ocean again! I've really missed you folks while you were being wined & dined by the lovely South aAfricaaners! What a lovely club (reciprocity, perchance?), nice that you had Wednesday beer can races & weekend regattas to join, and- even a car to tour the Southern tip of the continent! But, I thought we lost you to the pull of the locals, the club & all of the amenities that you enjoyed! Whew, Florence looks best under sail, and you guys are superb at reducing chafe when there's no air to boot! I know that Matt calulates the cost of diesel/minute when running the motor (cheapskate! "Unbudgeted Pounds!") Hahaha- great to see Amy with a smile & both of you in all of the clothes you own- all at the same time! Now, I just have to wait 2 weeks 'til you post up again. Grrrrrr. Travel safe & highest & best prayers & intentions being sent your way.
It’s a joy to watch your teamwork. You’re such skilled sailors, it seems easy. Any time I leave a stable home place, I get the willies, worried that I’ve prepared well enough. When you guys start a long passage I get them for you, no matter my confidence in you. I have a real fondness for you guys. I wish you well all the time. Your sailing and videography have matured into something wonderful and I thank you for sharing it with us. God be with you. Kentucky
glad you're feeling better Amy!
Glad to see you underway again, safe and feeling well. You will be back in South Africa some day, good to see you enjoyed the stay, I can put it on my bucket list..
I just can't get over how well done these episodes are, absolutely like being onboard!! ...I had to clip in and put the computer on a gimbal !! you two are artists -storyline, video quality , images and editing are superb! Can't believe you find time to man the helm?!...I guess Florence handles that!! so please take all the time you need to live your dream- anything left over you want to share with us is well received!
Nice to see you sailing again
Quite simply fantastic !!! . As a South African, I'd like to extend my gratitude to you both for displaying the country is such a wonderful light. (both literally and figuratively). You can rest assured that you will always receive the warmest of welcomes if you ever return.
You both do a truly amazing job and I for one greatly appreciate and enjoy your efforts.
Thank you.
Just want to say this is the best sailing channel on CZcams, best editing, best reality content.
Thx
Beautiful footage! Sunsets and sunrises that inspire and mystify. Amy, glad you’re feeling better. Rolling on a small boat isn’t the best environment to recoup and regroup. Glad to see you smiling again. The boat looks fabulous. Your hard work in SA really paid off. Enjoy the crossing. Good sailing, steady wind and gentle following seas in the South Atlantic 🙏🤞❤️
This was gorgeous footage, beautiful music, pure sailing. This was over-the-top excellence and you've become my favorite sailing channel of all. I full-screened this onto the large screen and just reveled in the beauty, the lingering scenes that weren't edited down to 2.5 seconds, bless you! Such beauty.
Wowee! A wonderful sail. That 🐟 dinner looked scrumptious. Fairwinds! ⛵️
Nice to watch a couple who know how to sail! Florence was flying at one stage there beautiful Fair winds and cheers n beers Marty Australia keep safe!
Thank you so much for this video it fed my soul.
Your videography is like watching a National Geographic production. I'm going to cry if your journey ends once you reach England.
No crying required ;-) A pit stop to see family and refit Florence, then onward is the plan.
@@SailingYachtFlorence 🙌🙌🙌👏👏👏
@@SailingYachtFlorence excellent news, I thought you might be going back to work 😂
WOW I think everyone feels the same as I do, I'm in complete AW of your vids with the slow-motion shots, the shots at the water line, above the boat, and let's not forget the clarity of the shots taken. I have found your videos create a rollercoaster of emotion from relaxing calm to sitting on the edge of my seat excitement, I love that. That being said Thank you for sharing and like most folks - I cannot wait for the next one. Fair winds and safe travels.
Namibia is a stunning country. Nothing better than sunrises and sunsets at sea.
Quality bit of filming and editing by the way
amazing vlog, thanks so much for letting us be part of your journey
Stunning video. Thanks for visiting our South Africa . Glad u enjoyed our friendly country. Enjoy Namibia... where we also lived some years back. Go well!!
Ahh! Two weeks is a long time to wait. Come on Namibia. Matt & Amy, keep em coming.
Seeing the sunrise over Namibia just reinforced for me that I will never leave South Africa to settle anywhere else in the world. Nowhere in my opinion is quite as beautiful as my home country and its sunrises and sunsets. Love your videos too. 😁
wow what a brilliant video
Great sailing footage .....enjoy Namibia very very special country....thanks for sharing
I have a great sense of adventure, curiosity, exploration..... but now I find myself less likely to tackle these endeavors alone like I thought I could. Having a #2 has so many advantages.
🌞🌴⛵️
This is by far the best sailing videos in CZcams
yall kids are wild!!
Everything about this video was first class. The photography, music, drone footage and most of all the sailing was supurb! Food looked good too! Well done Florence, well done!
OHHH that sunrise were awesome thanks
Pleased you had a great time with the friendly people of South Africa 🇿🇦 Hope you have enjoyable safe journey onwards. Best Wishes and Kind Regards ❤ Errol
Yellowtail kingfish absolutely the best Sashimi and Cerviche fish in the ocean. Hope you catch many more Matt and Amy
Always great to see you sailing thank you for another great episode
Amazing
farewell and bon voyage.... loved this one... enjoy Namibia !!!! be safe
It’s really nice to watch some actual sailing on a sailing channel.
Go ahead!!! New big adventure, see you from Santa Helena. Thanks for all!
Lovely video
Awesome
Sunrises and Sunsets are stunning.
Loved the insta360 footage, it increases your production value even more!
Wow, I couldn't wait for this video and it didn't disappoint . I'll say this again, your cameras and editing are smashingly good. I'm now a drone pilot, learning though watching you guy's and others in these stunning places . That reveal shot was so smooth, I have more to learn. I have saved this video for those beautiful sunset pictures. I have a picture of Florence braking a big wave on my wall at home, I'm going to surround it with these magnificent sun shots.
Lost count how many times I was wowed by this video. Thanks so much.
So glad you loved South Africa and her people! I have also had the good fortune of sailing into Lüderitz, as my birth country Namibia will always be close to my heart.
Another stunning video, thanks for sharing, always looking forward to a new episode from you. Enjoy Namibia!
Beautifully filmed and edited you two are really putting in a huge effort to produce top quality programs.
Sorry always happy to watch
In the '70's we always used to smell Walvis Bay many hours before we got there as the stench of fishmeal used to carry many miles out to sea.
CZcams should make a ❤️ button special for this channel….. you guys are amazing 😻
Love it!
My favorite sailing channel
Excellent video…..beauty sunrises and sunsets! Thx! Andrew
Best ever video! Wow! Well done
I look forward to each your episodes more than any other channel. I agree with Chris Malkin below. You are a joy to watch.
You are without a doubt an amazing film/video makers .the quality, sharpness and adventure, storytelling is one of the best on CZcams..regards from Cape Town..Keep Safe!
Really enjoy your channel because I am planning on buying a sailboat in the next 3 years when my son graduates high school and leaving life on land behind. I like how you actually talk a lot more about the sailing aspect of things over other channels that just show you them sailing. Able to learn more from your channel. Thank you
Beautiful Spinnaker work. Thanks.
Thank You.
Wow Great looking meals Amy, sorry to hear you were feeling crook.
Take care guys.
Cheers
Another wonderful episode. Thank you
After watching you guys and a couple others sail around the world, I really wish I’d done so when I was a younger man. Sadly, my health and age preclude me from trying it now. But it looks like a great challenge and you are making a life time worth of memories. The technology sure makes it simpler, safer, and much easier to document. Plus affordable if you can get old codgers like me to help pay for it. Which I gladly do to help you do it. Enjoy it kids while you can. The years will happen even faster than you can ever imagine.
Thank you so much for sharing your life on the high seas and apparently putting an incredible amount of effort in creating your videos. I love living vicariously through you guys.
Sure would like MY path to converge with you two some day.
Famous Namibian fog. There are plants and animals that "harvest" the fog as their prime water source. Lovely!
Thank you for another wonderful SAILING video.
And again another lovely, lovely video! Thank you.
Now that you Are in Queensbury you made good time sailing home😀🛫
Thank you, brought a lump to my throat.
Happy you enjoyed our beautiful country 🇿🇦 fair winds to Namibia guys 🇳🇦 Really love your show, if I was in CT I definitely would've popped in to say hi and meet you in person.... You'll enjoy Namibia ...sending love...❤ Ps. Like the Tshirt Matt 👍Glad you're feeling better Amy..🤒❤
The t-shirt was a parting gift from the dinghy sailors and friends we met and raced against in Seychelles :-)
Delighted that you are going to see some of Namibia, my favourite of all the countries I have visited. Enjoy.
We are looking forward to sharing some of the beauty of Namibia over the next few videos, it is a stunning place :-)
Just watched your latest video for the third time, it feels as though I am on deck with you all, the smell of the ocean the coolness of the wind it’s just beautiful!!!!! Thanks for the time you spend on the task of videography!! It’s just great!!! Looking forward to seeing your next video! You are in places I have only dreamed of, again thanks God bless you and happy sailing!!
I am glad that South Africa was good to you. Be safe and enjoy your journey. Your videos are superb......keep them coming. Regards.
Guys I'm a subscriber that has been watching your every vlog for many years. And I have to say that your sailing skills have been the most. In terms of how you have grown. You're both amazing & I look forward to every vlog. You bring a lot of joy to an old salty. And I have to say that you've done a wonderful job on maintaining Florence.
The videography is superb, the content is sensational.
Stunning to see you're save and sound. Thanks for visiting SA we keep following your until the end.
Be save and enjoy you're sailing. You're coming near to the end of you're journey. But still a lot in front of you. Maybe planning you're next journey?? Thanks for sharing it with us. Greetings from Melinda from South-Africa 🙋🏻♀️🙋🏻♀️
Another amazing episode
Your videography is as best as can be... amazing journeys
Jealous watching you catch the Kingfish, my absolute favourite fish to catch here in Australia. Love watching your travels.
Stunning shot, wow.
Photography is excellent!
Well paced, and some great blue footage! We're moving our Caliber 40 down the Oregon Coast to Coos Bay this coming Tue/Wed, inching our way closer to the Southern Pacific. The Universe willing, we'll be heading into the blue by next summer. Your shows have been an inspiration. Your channel is one of the few Bluewater CZcams productions that is not 50% T7A. You two are a class act. Some of us appreciate this. Winds when you need it and small seas you two ... and peace. Hope to watch you make it back to England safely. You certainly will have stories to tell! (Dorian & Cathy)
Must admit I'm amused by the skill it takes to handle hot food while rocking around lol. Safe travels an much love from the coast of Maine,USA!
Love, love, love this channel!❤️
I have to agree with previous comments about the quality of production you present for viewing. Matt and Amy I Love your narration. I think anything you endeavor to do after this would capture the audience.
Awesome...Thank you for your dreams.
How you make the video so stunning whilst on the move is beyond me. The way you shot and edited that bird (some kind of sea-eagle maybe?) was just missing Sir David Attenborough's voice-over. Thank you and sail safe
@TerryFrySax *_ That 'BIRD' Terry is the ALBATROSS ..... they can fly between continents! _*
@@liongod1000 wow, thank you very much Robert. Stunning and graceful
Wasn't the coast of Namibia known as the skeleton coast ?? You guys make sailing look SO effortless , which I'm sure it's not , but you make must watch programmes that I never miss
Yes we will stop in at the Skeleton coast in a future episode, Thank you :-)
The Namib is reckoned to be the oldest desert on Earth..its also one of the dryest ... and home to some amazing plants and animals. Including some of the oldest land plants on Earth.
The coastal dunes can be huge ...best to avoid the Diamond beaches though.
Lovely video! Thank you again for sharing it with us!
Stunning photography and love the narrative. Well both of you.
Fantastic episode, thank you!
Pure Quality over and over again !
Dinner looks awesome!! 😁
That new AIS is wonderful isn't it! We got mentioned a couple times, but never close enough to make it into the video. That sail had a bit of everything packed into 5 days.
guys its amazing how you improved the quality of your videos in all these years .... well done !
You guys are great videographers! Always enjoyable!
What a visually stunning episode! Saying any more than that is superfluous. Just perfect!
