I root for gigas cause i see him like an underdog, the way geese combo is just bullshit lmao more than half health lost compared to gigas whose combo can barely reach geese damage, and geese move is a lot safer and less punishable than a lot of gigas moves

It's rare to find, and when it happens, you can't believe your eyes.....
And when I find a Gigas online, I always find it hard to go against him: a character that you don't see very often it's hard to know the match up.

@@EliaValerio1 from what I know, a lot of he's moveset is punishable (apparently, even his 1, 2 jabs are -17 on block which are launch punishable).
And they gave him a lot of nerfs in season 2.
It's a character that I never used, and these days he's really rare to find him.
But I think the moment you find someone really good with Gigas, it's hard to go against him.
@@seiryu265 his jabs deserve to be launch punishable, they wall splat. Gigas players aren't supposed to just throw them out I think they used to be -14. Anyway I don't think he's terrible he's definitely playable and very fun. Also yeah no one knows the match up when I play gigas, it's actually sad

There's a lot of us Gigas mains than most people think. With us there's always more tech to learn, plus he's a fun character despite him being a meme/joke factory as of late. More throws and some good frames would be nice though.
Also I believe he arguably has one of the best rage drives in the game with the options and utility it holds. It would be nice if they make gol 2 actually non reversible like it was intended and not let jin, geese and certain characters parry it still.
This video is great, anybody who mains Gigas has to have really great defense. Despite having a bad movelist, Gigas players have somehow try hard to make it work, when it does, it looks like a miracle. Youd never think to pull off such slow moves on a good player, its like throwing a slow ball in baseball. You cant be cheap with him,everything is calculated and hard read. People dont know the beauty of playing this character, he doesnt deserve the crap he is getting, Gigas has some really unique bad ass things and if Namco improves him just a bit more, he would be a star.

What's great is that everyone can learn from this video. As a prospective Gigas main, I'm being shown new mixups and even moves I've barely even tried in training, where everyone else is shown that disrespecting him will lead to some awkward counter hits

Just two points:
1. That's Gigas' regular hopkick.
He does have a generic, delayable hopkick (uf,n,4) but that was his regular uf4.
...it's just that slow
2. The unavoidable GOL~1 from rage works like this:
As well as bigger damage and a ranged low stun, Gigas has a special option added to his Rage Drive:
A chargeable b+2.
It looks like his regular b+2 but it's only available from Rage. (It's like an "EX b+2").
This b+2 has a unique, faster Goliath transition (where Gigas only takes 1 and a half steps before he can attack).
But it still doesn't guarantee anything.
However if you fully charge the RD~b+2 then, and only then, is the GOL~1 unavoidable.
So for the unavoidable GOL~1 to happen, it can only happen after this chain of events:
Rage Drive! > b+2 > hold to fully charge > opponent stands there for 30~40 neutral frames and guards a fully charged b+2 > special Goliath transition > Goliath 1

4:54 I wish Astaroth on Soul Calibur 6 has a guard stun move like that. In fact when he be in soul charge mode, that's when most of his attacks should have a heavy hit to it like Giga's guard stun move.

@@dicorockhimself SC4 Astaroth has more knockback of his bull rush move and he has additional moves that SC5 and SC6 Astaroth don't have.
@@espada9000 You have to remember everyone in the game had extra moves and was pretty strong in SC4 and SC5. SC4 Astaroth could legit annihilate you from axe swing into sky backbreaker. In SC6, Astaroth would pretty much be broken if he had guard stun moves imo. He has damage and is strong in that he provides pressure onto the opponent. If he had guard stun, not only could he apply pressure but now you can no longer get out of the pressure because he will guard stun you.
I don't main Astaroth so you can enlighten me, but he seems to always be played in that way where he pressures you and then he has the mixups between striking you with his axe or grabbing you similar to how King/Armor King operate in this game.
I'm a PS4 player so I might be stupid fot asking this, but whats that overlay he's using ? I never saw that.

@@snkenjoyer4989 it's a good safe mid option to have. Good as an oki tool when you mix it with other moves like d/b 2, b+1, d/b 1+2, etc. I believe it also helps against those who roll to the side. Might have to test the tracking on it later.
Ff 1+2 is trash though.

F,f1+2 is a half screen mid that is plus on block, combo stuns on regular and counter hit, and is fast. It's one of the best moves in the game
@@dydp1 it's one of his only homing moves, not to mention the fast homing of the two he has. It's high risk but has good reward for the trouble.
