- I've been asked a lot this summer: "what charcoal or lumpwood charcoal should I get?"
I use a variety of many different types and decided to make a video.
Whether you're grilling hot and fast or low and slow, I go through what's best for what from my current stash.
That being said I'll soon be doing a video on different way's you can set up for things like 2 zone / snake / indirect etc etc.
I hope you get something out of this video.
Cheers!

Another great video mate. Taught me how to open the bags using the string 😂
Yeah, it really is a thing, lol 😆 😂 😅 🤣
Great to see an updated review on BBQ fuel 😀 You actually reminded me that I need to up my stock! I only have Globaltic charcoal ( boxes ) and need something else like Whittle and Flame.
Will be jumping on their site soon!
I have been getting asked a lot this year on what fuel to get, etc, so we thought it would be a good call for a useful video 📹
Great video! I have learnt so much, thank you brothers of the gril 👍
Thanks, we are glad you got something out of the video as that's exactly our aim 😀
I'm not that great at BBQ's but watching your videos is making me understand where I'm going wrong. Very informative and interesting.
Thanks. we really appreciate comments like this! It really makes it all worthwhile 😀😀😀
3rd time's the charm! I get stuck on those, too, lol. Lots of information there. I never knew they were so different.
Lol, yeah, we go there in the end 🤣
Great video, looking forward to a new era on BBQs. I do everything you don't!
Cheers we really appreciate the support 😀 🙏
It's definitely good to try different things as it's good fun and definitely a good way to get your friends into it too by showing them also!
So not sponsored which I think is great ! A good honest review… have to dig the BBQ !!!
Thanks!! I really wanted to give my honest feedback as I have been using many different over the year's.
Lots of great information in this video. Big K & Masterbuilt lump charcoal are my favourites to use
Masterbuilt is definitely great stuff 👌 big K is an awesome all-rounder.
I've never even considered the effects and types of fuel, normally just grab a bag of whatevers at the garage! Now i know i need to up my bbq fuel game!
It really makes a massive difference 100% the cheaper it is, the more likely it'll have chemicals in, and you really don't want that!
Thanks for the great advice as usaul
Cheers, Hayley we appreciate your support and feedback 👍 🙌
Never knew there were so many different choices in charcoal! Could you do a video explaining set ups for different cooks/meats.
There is a lot out there! and there is a lot more. That's exactly why I did the video 📹
I will be doing a video on exactly that very soon so keep an eye out 👀
So big K for the best cooking - love a low and slow cooking.. I had no idea there was so many option.
Great informative video ❤
Will defo be getting some of these bags in the future :-)
I’m glad you said about the Webber being hot and fast I have found this in the past and just thought I’d done it wrong…
So many options what would you say was the best all rounder - would be great to have an edit of the best bbq for beginners, and best foods to cook.. somthing not to complex
Big k is definitely a really good all-rounder 👍 👌 weber lump wood is good stuff, but in my opinion, it's good for hot and fast only. Just my honest opinion. As I say in the video webers brickets are very good 👍
I will definitely do a video series in the spring regarding best bbq for beginners 😀 thats a great idea 💡 😀
@@BrothersoftheGrill will keep a close eye out for it
@@Parahooners cheers 😃
Ohhh very nice!
Can you do a video on how to use and set up charcoal, please?
I’m at my wits end. Thanks BOTG ❤
Sure 👍 I was going to do exactly that.
I had the same trouble with the Weber lump wood, brought from bybrook barn Ashford, never again as most of it was broken into small pieces 😢
Yeah, not the best, tbf. It could be a lot to do with how it is stacked, etc. It's still great for grilling hot and fast, but that's about it
The Whittle and Flame charcoal, was it ash, checked out their website and at the moment that’s all they have in stock. Great informative video. Makes it easy to choose your coals. Cheers.
I have a few different from W&F
They are all good tbh. They are often sold out! Just shows how good it really is.
Great video! Some of the other British charcoal producers (us included) are actually a little less expensive than Whittle & Flame. Give us a go some time 😁
Will do that! As I said in the video, I like to support uk 🇬🇧 companies.

@@planetfriendlyfirewood I just subscribed 😍
@@BrothersoftheGrill Back at ya!
For me, best briquettes on the market by far are Heatbeads ... They may take a little longer from light up to ash over than some but burn cleaner, longer and with a more consistent heat than anything else
I have never used them but I did see them and got told about them by a few people up at prosmoke when I was on the wilsons bbq master class. You have just reminded me to give them a try.
Great video, watched many of yours and learned so much.
I've just bought a weber smokey mountain and would be great to know which charcoals you think would work best on this particular smoker?
Thanks! We really appreciate that a lot. It all depends on what you are looking at cooking 1st? Long low and slow? Are you new to all this? Budget Etc etc. Let me know and I will give you my honest opinion in the morning 🌄 😉 I'm just off to bed but will definitely pick up on this in the morning. Cheers!
I'm not new to smoking as I have a pellet smoker but definitely new to smoking with coals and wood. I will be mainly cooking beef ribs, pork ribs, pork shoulder and chickens so cooks will be roughly between 2-8hrs. I'm not on a strict budget but will be using it regularly so keeping cost down would be great. I was thinking big k lumpwood, what are your thoughts?
Is the bk stuff natural always thought it had chemicals on it
Hi
The only one that they do with chemicals is the easy start charcoal. All the other charcoal they produce is all 100% natural.
Very informative video bro!
Won't be using lighter fluid🔥🧯👨🚒 and now know how to open the bags too 🤣
Yeah them pesky bags 🤣😂🤣
