Modern faction / modern soldiers can skirmish backwards while and shoot whilst moving so if you put them on attack I think they'd stand much more of a chance against some of the enemies especially considering they can sidestep bullets kind of.

Baron the modern soilders are actually the best ranged unit in the game they just need to be out in attack mode so they can freely move because the modern soilders ai allows them to retreat and even dodge projectiles

The musket caliber is 12,4 mm a 50. cal 12,7mm the big difference is the powder.
A 50 bmg’s cartridge contains a lot more and better gun powder making the bullet go way faster. E0 (Energy of the bullet at the muzzle)

If you put the modern soldiers on attack mode they can retreat.

.556 is reffered to as an "intermediate cartridge", although calling it a rifle caliber isn't incorrect, as the bullet shape is a rifle caliber, with a pointed tip, as opposed to the rounded tips of a pistol caliber.
I thought it was 5.56mm (metric vs imperial I guess).

@@lostwizardcat9910 almost correct, 5.56 nato has the same dimensions as .223, but 5.56 has more power and is therefore a different round even though they're interchangeable.
@@SnowHunter869 actually by standard loading configurations 5.56 varies from 1,238 ft⋅lbf to 1,371 ft⋅lbf
while .223 Varies 959 ft⋅lbf to 1,338 ft⋅lbf
Therefore once again its no different. the only difference is the powder used, not the powder amount, the specific type of powder used in 5.56 has a slightly faster burn rate.
Its essentially the same as 30-30 Remington recoil managed compared to standard 30-30. They are the same round with in many cases the same amount of power.
So according to the stats in the unit customizer, Modern Soldier only has 20 more range and otherwise identical stats to the American Assault Soldier from WWII.
Which is weird because the Garand shoots 30-06 and has more power and a further range than a 5.56 m4 carbine.

The muskets' effective range is less than 100 meters, and can fire at most 6 shots a minute.
The modern rifles are effective up to 500 meters, and can fire full auto.
So which side will win?
I was thinking the same thing. Those muskets wouldn't be hitting JACK at that range.
The in game stats for the weapons are different. :C
Smooth bore Muskets had an effective range of 200-300 yards, and could be accurate enough to hit a man sized target at those ranges in the hands of a skilled marksman.
Rifled Muskets had an even greater range of 400-600 yards and could hit a large dinner plate at that range in the hands of a skilled marksman.
Muskets get a bad rep by comparing mass produced smoothbore muskets and munitions in the hands of conscripts to todays standards. But a properly made musket with sorted consistent ammunition in the hands of a skilled marksman was an extremely effective weapon.
the had m4s which are not full auto and shoot 5.56 nato which is effective only up to 300 meters.

Loved the video @BaronVonGames! Can't wait for the next video man! Here's a Battle Idea for you: Put the French Army of the Napoleonic Era (Grande Armeé) against a Task Force from the Modern American Army.
Background: a Badly Mauled Division of the French Grande Armeé takes reserve Status in a Desert Town after coming back from a Fight with a Mysterious Army with "Muskets that can fire Lightning Bolts powerful enough to wipe out entire Armies". The Division was sent through a Gate that Transported them to the Modern Era with 10,000 Men and after about 6 hours of Impromptu Combat, Retreated with about 3,000 Men. However, Rumor has it that a Select Company of Men (140 Men) had taken several of the Locals Prisoner and were supposedly planning on selling them as Servants after they had finished questioning them and were holding up in a Nearby Village. The Next Morning hadn't actually even come, as Bright Flashes in the Night Sky Appeared over the Town where the Division's Remnants were Dug in. The Enemy had Followed them with Reasonable Force, and had Fired Star Shells to Light up the Area and Call out Targets for an Artillery Bombardment. The French Soldiers rush out of their Beds and Tents and into Defensive Positions, only to here the Ominous Whistles leading to the Unearthly Crescendo of Modern American Artillery.
Battle Set-up: The French Have 140 Men in the Smaller Village on a Desert Map and the Other 2,860 Men in the Division's Remnants in the Large Town. The Modern American Military has sent a Task Force with An Entire Infantry Battalion (510 Men in 3 Companies of 170 Men; each Company has 4 Platoons of 41 Men and a Company HQ of 6 Men) supported by an Infantry Company Trained in AirCav Operations with UH-60M Black Hawk Helicopters and the Gunship Version, the MH-60L DAP (Direct Action Penetrator) providing Close Fire Support for the AirCav Troops, along with a Battery of 4 M777 155mm Howitzers and a Battery of 6 M109A6 Paladin's ready to call down Fire on the Enemy's Heads, And Further Support from a Small Company of 8 M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tanks (2 Tanks in the Company HQ and 2 Platoons of 3 Tanks) and 6 M3A3 Bradley Cavalry Fighting Vehicles as Recon (Again, 2 Platoons of 3 Tanks). The Battle, as Mentioned earlier, is Taking place at Night, so most of the French Troops will be around the Center of the Large Town getting some Shuteye as they Await for Replenishment and Brought back up to Strength.

.55 cal is small, the Brit’s had .75 cal, and the French had .69 cal muskets, the British could use captured .69 French ammo in their .75 muskets without problem, but the French had to melt down captured ammo to use, because British bullets wouldn’t fit
556 nato is not .556 in it's 5.56 mm

I don't know what you expect because it is very clear the weapons that was used by modern soldiers was assault weapons so they probably have a better chance at attack mode than standing still
9:30 the modern combat soldiers are losing to the French muskets because they don’t have that rear sight on their fully-sem automatic.

While it would still suck getting hit by a musket ball, modern armor should be very effective at stopping a ball shaped projectile. Fast moving pointy projectiles have a better chance of penetrating.
Indeed. Oldschool muskets would be the equivalent of being hit with Shotgun Slugs. Much ouch..
Good point. I was looking at loading time. 3 shots a minute against armored troops that can put that number of shots exponentially downrange in seconds against non armored personnel.😏

I did some testing in arma but modern armys still suffer at 10 to 1 unless they are smart about it and keep the range high

A standard combat load out is 200 to 300 rounds, so they could only kill a third with perfect accuracy
Rear sight can pop or be pushed down. Also i believe area target for the M4 is 850 yards.
wow, the french muskets there have ridiculous range in this game. IRL they'd be shooting muskets pretty close...
What about modern soldiers being equipped with IFV’s armed with modern auto cannons?
Given how the French operated during the napoleonic wars, i think they'd be very happy dueling it put en mass with fully auto weapons. They are nothing compared to charging straight at cannons loaded with cannister.
In reality 1000 modern soldiers with modern tactics would obliterate ten thousand of them.

@@skygge1006 oh, yes, they undoubtedly would, but the french would be very happy charging right at them with there muskets, until a pretty significant number of them had died, at which point they would run away. And we are of course assuming just the weapons shown, meaning M1 carbines versus muskets, not M1s, snipers, and LMGs (don't remember what they are called, unfortunately) versus muskets, cavalry, and cannons.
@@Santisima_Trinidad yea I was just pointing out that it would probably be more scary to run at 1000 soldiers with modern weapons that are like nothing you’ve ever seen than cannons that their leaders likely would use tactics to counter.

5.56 mm air cold, gas operated, semi automatic, three round burst shoulder fired weapon.
Some muskets were .72 cal. Now that's a monster.
btw ww2 got attacked after modern and it was on a slight advantage of height

M4 range is 600 meters so they fighting but minimum damage and accuracy of m4 is 94 acc dmg 20 in 100 meters
the m4 is not full auto and only shoot 5.56mm nato which is considered an intermediate round.

That's 60000 rounds/min for modern army and only 20000/min for musketeers

This game ain't half bad.
First, modern armies do not fight is any formations like you have here. They would all be shooting everyone in front of them in the back. Second, modern armies use supporting elements like bombers, helicopters, artillery and ground attack vehicles. So these simulations are not at all realistic. Graphics are great but this game is more for kids.

If you don't let the soldiers move then they're just sitting ducks. At least put them on Guard.

Yeah this is wonky. The range that the 18th century dudes are engaging is way too far. The modern soliders need to be able to move and they were strangely not killing at a distance.
