    The pen looks quite cute and I must add something: Stilo & Stile costumer service is quite amazing and for that reason alone I will consider it for any future purchases

    Nice review, glad that you are recovering well.
    I've had my modern piston sport for a bit over a month now. I got mine with a double broad, and it is excellent. As a kaweco-phile and someone that prefers self-filling pens (piston or vac) I was very happy that kaweco decided to produce piston fill pens again. I've also got a sport v16 from '73 or so that has a stub (labeled as a ) that I adore. The modern piston sport is a worthy successor, IMO. The finish is well done and seems that it will be durable. Personally, I hope that kaweco elects to produce the modern piston sport in stainless steel.
    I'd like to point out that there is an additional o-ring below the feed housing that is extremely hard to get back into its gland if you manage to displace it, so caution should be exercised if you use a blunt toothpick or similar object to apply silicone grease to the inside of the ink reservoir if you go that route instead of periodically using a lubricated ink.
    I believe the pen is well worth the additional price; it has a great ink capacity for a small pen, a very useful ink window (I love the Lamy 2000, but the ink window isn't the best), and thick anodizing that should be quite durable.
    If they make one in stainless steel I won't hesitate to get it.

    Hope you're mending quickly. Good review of this new Kawevo Sport. I purchased one and I'm glad I did. It's the right combination of portable and functional, a non-plastic body (aluminum but therefor light), and a good nib. It's the only Sport model I own - I'm not attracted to most of their colored plastic bodies. One note: make sure you fill it before leaving the house if you plan to do more than just jot down brief notes. I think Kaweco has a hit on their hands, and I'm sure they'll expand the lineup.

    Good video, but concerning the price.. Here in Belgium and in the Netherlands from the sellers where I regularly buy, the price of this pen was between €166.00 and €173.00 when it was introduced and this price has still remained unchanged 😳So, still far too expensive in my opinion. I wish you a quick recovery. Greetings from Belgium

    Hello David. I heard what happened with your surgery and I'm glad you are better. I don't know if you heard about this but Tactile Turn offered their Seasonal Release pen that is called The Sprout. It is a green colored pen you should check out. I bought the pen and I love it.

    I ordered one sight unseen and was not the least disappointed. Mine is also a medium and very smooth. At times I wish I'd gotten a fine, and it's a shame they don't make their stub available. I've got an AL Sport with a stub and it works very well.

    • @zeus52452
      @zeus52452 Před 2 měsíci +1

      I got a fine nib with mine, and it is also a smooth nib. I'm planning on swapping out the nib as I managed to find not a stub, but a BB nib on Amazon of all places. It won't accept the usual replacement nibs since the design is slightly different and only a 190 insert is supposed to work in it. Nib swapping on the other models is much easier. I've even swapped out the nib in my Toyama Teal Sport & replaced it with the 1.1 mm Stub!

    • @johnnyragadoo2414

      @@zeus52452 I've seen videos of pulling the nib from the feed. My somewhat foggy impression is nibs can be swapped with other Sports, just not the nib/feed combination.

    • @43pages55
      @43pages55 Před 2 měsíci +1

      You can get replacement nibs for it on The site he mentioned in the video. I got a medium and a fine, shipped from Italy to the USA in like 4 days. Crazy fast!!

    • @zeus52452
      @zeus52452 Před 2 měsíci

      @@johnnyragadoo2414 In the case of the stubs, the ones I got came as a replacement for the whole section in Black Sport model. To put the 1.1 stub in my Toyama Teal I had to pull the nib and feed from the section. It's different for the Al-Sports, the Ebonite Sport or any of the metal Sports like Bronze. If the nib/feed which normally comes installed in a nib housing so it's a simple matter of unscrewing the the housing from say a Bronze Sport and screwing in the new one. With the stubs, you still have to pull the nib/feed from the housing to make the swap. Also consider, the feed should go with the nib. I'm not certain of this, but I believe the feed is designed for the size of nib for ink flow considerations. So if you install a stub with a fine size feed the nib might be starved for ink.

    David, you need a bottle holder for tall thin bottles to prevent the bottle from tipping over.

  • @paulmchugh1430
    @paulmchugh1430 Před 2 měsíci

    It is an iconic design. There is no apparent errors or flaws. As with any new model, the initial price is a bit high. Is it worth the price?

  • @whatsgoingonwhy9096
    @whatsgoingonwhy9096 Před 2 měsíci

    Its a cool looking pen but its hitting gold nib pricing. I get it is aluminum (i am not a big fan of metal pens) and a piston filler but its still a steel nibbed kaweco sport for 200 bucks. It looks really cool and i like piston/vac fillers better than cartridges/converters, but hopefully after awhile they make their money back and lower the price or add a gold nib to make it worth that kind of money.

  • @kkachi
    @kkachi Před 29 dny

    If you are concerned by the possibility of tipping over a tall bottle like Robert Oster, put the bottle into a drinking glass before you open it. That way it will not fall over.

    Not my thing. It’s a normal sport with a massive, if egregious, mark-up. I don’t know why people obsess over piston/vacuum pens. I acknowledge there is something nice about having everything self-contained, but they’re an absolute pain to clean and maintain. Also, do you really want that much ink? I get border using the same colour. As to travel, use cartridges.

      At least the nibs units can be easily unscrewed making maintenance less of an issue. Won't be getting this pen either.

      everyone has own preferences, i like to use kaweco sport as daily writer. cartridges are equally hard to clean to reuse, and converter runs out fast. As I also like Lamy 2000, Kaweco sport with piston filler seems win for me

    • @billclockwell
      @billclockwell Před 2 měsíci

      I mean vacuums I understand because those have a considerable increase in the amount, but between a piston and cartridge it's not that much

    • @CanItAlready
      @CanItAlready Před 2 měsíci +1

      There's more variety of colors available in bottled inks. They're really not that difficult to clean. With most of them, unscrew the nib, flush out the body. And you don't have to fill a piston filter completely off you don't want to.

    Price is still too high after the price reduction.
    🖋️ with prices > $100 💵 are not going to experience vastly lower prices with $20 💵 reductions.
    I would suggest a fair price for this 🖋️ is $125.
    Kaweco, however, is by no means as ridiculous as companies like Diplomat and Montblanc.
