Crown Princess Marie Chantal was wearing her Order on the wrong shoulder, but must’ve been told because she switched it to the correct one before the dinner.
What I find funny is that Pavlo (Greek crown prince) and Marie-Chantal, do not have a kingdom but appear at this party as members of a royal house? Which? He was invited because he is the Queen's Margrethe nephew 😂
The Greek Royal Family are still classed as Royal, even though the Greek Throne is Defunct. They are of Royal Blood, just the same. There are a number of other Royal Houses who no longer have a Throne, such as the Baltics, Austria & Italy, but they still have a Royal Family. It's because of Bloodline, they trace their Ancestry back to Kings & Queens of the past. There are many ties between the Greek & the Danish Royal Family. King George l was actually Danish, 3 X Queen Consorts were Danish. Prince Philip of the UK, was a Prince of Greece & Denmark, he was a Great, Great Grandson of King George l. Queen Anne-Marie of Greece is the sister of Queen Margrethe of Denmark, but she was also a distant cousin of her late husband King Constantine of Greece, their shared relative being King George l of Greece, who was a Danish Prince & Brother of the King of Denmark, one of the Christians I believe. CP Pavlo of Greece is also related to King Philippe of Spain by marriage. Queen emeritus Sofia of Spain (Philippe's Mother) was the sister of King Constantine of Greece (Pavlo's Father). CP Pavlo would have been invited as both The Head of a Royal House as well as a relative.

I was just thinking the same thing. The Princess Royal Anne doesn't have anything on Mary. Even though my favorite curtsy ever was Anne's last curtsy to her mother in Scotland
Funny to think that CP Mary learnt how to Curtsy from CP Frederik, on the day he announced to her his Mother was coming for Tea that afternoon to meet her! I'm sure she's polished it up over the years.
@@julianking3111 The Princess Royal was not often seen Curtseying to the Queen, but she always dropped a Deep Curtsey to the late Queen. There's a quite strict Protocol that she applies to Curtseying. As a Blood Royal, Anne does not have to curtsey so deeply to a non-Royal & some times not even then. Anne does not need to curtsey to Catherine, Princess of Wales, unless she is with William, Prince of Wales & then she only needs to do a "Bob Curtsey". She will usually just do a slight inclination of the head or a little bend at the waist. Anne is of the same Rank as William & they are both Blood Royals. Before Catherine became the Princess of Wales & was a Duchess, she had to Curtsey to Princess' Beatrice & Eugenie, if she was not with William, because although only daughters of a Royal Duke, they were of Royal Blood & she wasn't, so they out ranked her. The Princess Royal will drop a deep curtsey to Charles as King. She will not to Camilla, she will only drop a Bob Curtsey. To other Monarchs, Anne will drop a half Curtsy to the spouse of the Monarch & a deep Curtsey to the Monarch. In ranking, as a Blood Royal & as the British Princess Royal, she is accorded the same Rank as a Crown Prince or Princess of Royal Blood. You can also see at times, Kings or Prince Consorts, will incline their heads briefly & then kiss both cheeks & lift the ladies hand, palm side down & kiss the back of the hand. This is the equivalent of a bow to a Queen, a Crown Princess & to Anne, regardless of whether the Crown Princess is of Royal Blood or not. When Charles & Camilla had a quick visit to Denmark before the Coronation, CP Mary dropped a deep curtsey to Charles, they then kissed cheeks & he raised her hand & kissed it. Camilla dropped a Bob Curtsey to CP Frederik, who bowed his head to her. CP Mary dropped a Bob Curtsey to Camilla, they then kissed cheeks. Later when they met Queen Margrethe ll, Charles did the same Cheek & hand kiss & Camilla dropped a Bob Curtsey as the Queen is of Royal Blood & Camilla is only a Queen Consort & not of Royal Blood. Hope you can understand all this, in short there are few people that Anne has to drop a deep curtsey to, few more for a Bob Curtsey & everyone else gets a nod.
@@julianking3111If anyone can execute a properly deep and graceful curtsey , it is The Princess Anne . Perhaps you should look it up , if unaware . Mary executes her role well enough for the current clime but no - not if being a “purist”
There is no tradition for the British and Danish royals to attend each others royal duties - so to speak - unless it's the king or queens funeral. Queen Margrethe of Denmark made a formal visit to the UK in the 70s or 80s (can't remember) with her husband Prince Consort Henri. Other than that, nothing noteworthy except in newer times with Harry and Wiliam. However the relationship is good between the two countries, and Queen Margrethe makes almost yearly informal visits to the UK to visit royal friends, including Elizabeth when she lived, shopping etc.
@@Tomymind Ah yes I completely forgot to add "why", its a very good question since as you also mentioned, a lot of history connects them and the current relationship is good. I don't have a good answer, and I don't think there is any solid explanation to why.
Princess Diana would have celebrated her son's birthday in a far more CLASSY manner - with the homeless young people or simply donate the money to UN REFUGEES. The Danish Royal family is CLASSLESS.

Mary's curtsey is the best of all royals. She really stood out with her curtsey at the Royal Jordanian wedding. What a star and an inspiration.
