And then Harald's mother was cousin with the late Swedish King Gustaf VI Adolf and so Harald is second cousins with Margarethe II's mother Ingrid, the daughter of the late Swedish King. Ingrid and Christian are likely sitting next to each other because their families are very close, and they belong to the same generation. They share a lot, especially the fact that they will both one day inherit the thrones of their respective countries, making them colleagues :)
The British royals are rarely represented in other countries, when these things happen. The three Scandinavian royal families are very close with each other, both through family ties but also friendship. I’m guessing that the Belgian and Dutch princesses were there as they are the same age/generation as Christian and therefore future colleagues, the rest of the royals in attendance were all family.
