    John thank you for a superb series. I've now got a far better understanding of what's ahead of me when the time comes. What I need to do now is put a rough cost to the job allowing for tool hire etc. Thank you again, great way to spend a wet and windy afternoon.

  • @narrowboatapostrophe6120

    great set of video's, I don't think I could have even started to paint my boat without seeing these, I've taken the roof down to the metal and applied rust proofing, then two coats of primer, two undercoat, and finally two top coats, and now I've started the sides, thanks for sharing your years of experience, my boat doesn't look like the picture now, I'll update my picture when I've finished, thanks again

    As an ex sprayer (car / motorbike body mainly), it was a treat to see how the other side works. Ive a lathe to paint and possibly an old mid sized commer lorry. Must be in rebellion or something because I dont intend to take a spray gun near either of them :).
    Thanks for the uploads, gives folks me like a good leg up on what to do with a brush.
    All the best

    Very interesting and enjoyable 7 episodes.
    A consummate professional, I think.
    I like to watch / listen to things in which there are so many points which I would not have considered myself. This guy mentions so many things in passing that would not have occurred to me (of course I am not a professional in this field).
    I don't have a narrow boat (there aren't any here in Japan).
    If I were back in my home country of The U.K., though, and I had a boat like that, I sure would be happy to take it to this place for renovation.
    Thanks a lot for the interesting videos.

    I think for a nice touch for your website or something, have a clip of your customer seeing the boat for the first time. Think it would be great tool for you to show prospects. After all, people aren't buying paint, they are buying the emotions and feelings they get to experience when they have their new boat. Important for prospects to be able to imagine that experience when considering hiring you.

      @JohnbarnardBiz  Před 7 lety

      hi
      the paint i use is a deck paint the extra grip provided by the sand is there mostly for the gunnels which are very narrow and don"t give that good a foot hold.
      thanks for the comment

    When you replace the screws in the windows and doors do you use what is called resuesteel as is used in the marine boats? It is a grease that is just about impossible to wash off and does not harden at all and keeps moist out.

    • @JohnbarnardBiz
      @JohnbarnardBiz  Před 7 lety +1

      we put an all weather sealant on all the screws to seal both the threads and the heads of the screws
