Be easy with the pain killers and lack of sleep. I ended up getting really paranoid after a week of it. I was acting like a crackhead looking out windows. I had to take sleeping pills to get out of it.
Sleep deprivation will "fry" your brain!....be careful..... I've been there Delirium is NOT FUN AT ALL!
Especially Opioids. Very easy to get hooked and to have bad withdrawals from them.
It so nice of them to paint the big red sun on the deck! It made targeting a lot easier.
They actually announced today or yesterday that the AIM-260 will enter production late this year or early next year! Also they'll apparently be testing it from F-22 this summer
Nice
@Tylerrr324 The Americans are on it!...they have ramped up production....the AIM 260 has already passed the tests and in full scale production now....
@@grimreapers The weapon has been in testing since 2021 and they claim that is has made successful target intercepts but they also said a full live fire test has yet to happen so i'm not sure how those intercepts were made.
@@mattseller148Sims maybe? That's my guess.
@@mattseller148 And i'm not sure, how reliable "they said" is... In either direction.
My 2nd started sleeping through the night on his first day home from the hospital. By 2-months, my wife had to set an alarm to wake up for his 3AM feeding. Turns out he’s high support autistic. He’s 17 now and still doesn’t speak. The lack of sleep is a trial by fire that every new parent experiences. That 3AM love is some of the most hard fought love you’ll ever experience. Nothing your kids will ever do will challenge your will to be a good parent as much as this.
Have you watched “My Neighbor Totoro”? You should. It’s a primer on being a good parent.
They say the most effective form of torture is sleep deprivation.
If I recall properly, by this point in the war, most of Japan's quality pilots were dead. Having been lost in Midway, Guadalcanal, etc. So in order to be realistic, for this video and the last, the AI settings on the enemy pilots shouldn't be as high as they were during the Pearl Harbor or Midway videos.
Well, you're partially right and partially wrong. Japan had plenty of pilots, but the ones aboard the aircraft carriers were elite, being skilled, smart, and courageous. When many of them died during the battles of the Coral Sea and Midway, Japan wasn't able to produce the same level of elite flyers that they had before! So they had pilots, but not good ones.
Not only the pilots, but also the experienced deck crews, fire control teams, mechanic's and officers.
But if they were trapped in WW2 Where would they get the 21st century weapon the gas-turbines aboard the Aegis-equipped cruiser and the Aegis-equipped destroyer? How would they obtaining the needed arms and the Aegis cruiser and destroyer which who would need the various missiles they need to defending the aircraft-carrier from the IJN fleet?
Yep if it werent for the quality of the pilots there would be Midway in reverse
I'm leaning towards agreeing with @AccessAccess. Japan kept losing pilots, & those on the carrier's were the best they had. The longer the war goes on, at that rate of loss, all you'd be left with would be shiny rookies.
Cap when my son could not sleep I would bundle him up and place him in his car seat for a drive. I suggest Brahms and Beethoven and a nice quite country road.
I love this idea.
Yes my daughter loved AC/DC & drives
It will all be ok with the sleep thing Cap. My baby girl just turned 5 years old a few weeks ago. I remember going through that with both of my kids. The other is 19 now. Keep your head up. It will get better!
Father of two here, one 3.5 year old daughter (Scarlett), and a 3 month old boy (Saxon).
If you manage to find the instruction manual for these things, let me know. ;)
Thanks for the video, they help me relax!
Yup been searching Google for User Manual.
@@grimreapers If you think babies are hard…try 2 teenage girls OMG LOL
Cap may be sleepy with a new baby, but when he is in "God" mode and giving all his viewers a bird's eye view of the battle, it shows us why he is a GRIM REAPER!
What most DCS wargamers tend to negelect is the existance of the martime tomahawk(BGM-109B) with a range of 490 kilometers and a warhead nearly four times bigger the RGM-84 harpoon. These are very effective against armored ships. Good video though!
Wait are those the same Tomahawks featured in the Seagal movie "Under Siege"?
Nice to see you boys still drop a video on CZcams from time to time...im still waiting to see a 2025 Chinese Carrier vs the Imperial Japanese Fleet.....😁😁😁😁... OUTSTANDING. Hope you get some rest cap, you do not want to slip into DELIRIUM from lack of sleep...i speak from experience when i went 6 months with out a full nights rest....IT WAS LIKE BEING ON A BAD TRIP THAT WOULDNT STOP!
They need to do a remake of the movie "The Final Countdown" with modern equipment but let the battle go a little more further before being sent back. Also include the side of the story of the Japanese side of the story of "what the F" is going on.
What the F* indeed
The novel (trilogy) Weapons of Choice is a great alt-history of a carrier group dropped into Midway at night and the resulting changes had on the rest of the world.
The AIM-260 had some great news come out today, they’re planning on producing it this year and heavily increasing its production
About dang time!
i'd guess the reason for the miss is that the few misses were the result of the guiding f35's going home and the missiles turned on their own seekers
oooOOO good thinking!
"Not physically beautiful, they're terribly ugly"
True friendship right there.
Congrats on the new squadron member.
thx
Great video as always team. Cap, been listening to your baby journey and really feel for you. It will get better.
:)
Sorry Cap.... Got to interject... Long time viewer but rare commenter... I just wanted to give some love to Simba whilst he's off on his tours. Stay safe and come back to us soon Simba, We miss you already.
No seriously! Hurry back! The segways to the other platforms..... it's not the same. We miss you man! Be safe and come back soon I miss the good segways
Roger. Tell president xi to wind his bloody neck in so we can get Simba back to game.
I'm laughing my head off at the baby stories. My youngest is 14 now, so those days are long behind me, but I remember it SO well. So hard to have any patience, to keep a clear thought in your head, and to keep from strangling annoying strangers. Good times. So worth it in the end though. Best and hardest job you'll ever have.
Great show - It's interesting that the Harpoons were visible to targeting by the battleships in a prior video but not the LRASM's in this. Also, you and Mrs. Cap get some sleep! We'll be here when you get back
Harpoons are sub sonic. LRASM are trans sonic. difference is speed. basically too fast to be targetted
Good advice, but it's rather how the AI does targeting in DCS.. it doesn't matter if the missile does 0.7 or 0.9 mach, just how the game dynamics sees it
@@jrizos06 yea but i would say that ww2 ships (not modern ones) would be incable of targeting something that fast.
@@kamirostorino9416 We're definitely in agreement about that, there's no way either Harpoons or LRASM's would be visible to be targeted from WWII ships with optical rangefinders
@@jrizos06 i mean i'm pretty sure i would be able to manually target pdw at Harpoon but not a LRASM. Humans are capable of following object that moves 0.6 spread of sound with eyes semi-reliably. as to whether I would be able to hit it and detonate it I am not so sure.
Can you do the US navy vs the combined Europian navy? I want to sea how much damage they can do.
My country the British use F35 so it's f35s vs f35s and f18s then the french use mirages soo not too much variety and the variety is no match for the F35 or f18
European Diesel Subs can sink US carriers

Oh shit we can wow
They couldn't even sink there own

No worries on the new baby and I wear a headset while watching and I didn’t hear anything! Thanks for another great video!
I don’t miss that stage of kids. It’s bloody hard work. I found a midnight feed and making sure they burp out all the gas was the trick to a solid few hours sleep.
Oh i waited this!
40:48 Cap, didn't know they 'C' versions could turn into 'B' versions. Must be the power of the hidden carrier.
Hybrid F-35?
This reminds me of the Final Countdown. You guys should do that, using cold war era Nimitz with F-14's vs the Pearl Harbor fleet.
F-14s were the fighters, while the attackers were A-6s and A-7s
If the Long Range Anti Ship Missile is called LRASM, what will the Obscene Range Gigasonic Anti Ship Missile be called?
ORGASM? 😅
America and their dang Acronyms will be the death of me!
The stick jockeys would just call it a "wad".
It’ll be called ORGASM 😂
@@Fred_Lougee the Warship Access Denial missile?
I'm offended that the replacement for the Hellcat was the Hornet instead of the Tomcat. 2020s be like that i guess...
Yup. 2020's worst decade.
Barely any sleep and yet still a great video. Hope you get a better sleep rhythm soon
Good work GR! Great planning Cap :) Get some rest
I bet some of the antiship missiles missed because after launch the plane ran low on fuel and had to return to base, breaking its lock on the target.
Awesome video GR! Very cool, and infinitely better without all missiles hitting the same ship!,
I’m sure that was a ton of effort, thank you very much!!
God Bless guys!!
I've been pondering this deep philosophical question for the longest time... is a bog really a bog if it wasn't made by ED?
Man this is deep...
Add a little “baby” rice roughly a tablespoon to the last nightly bottle after a couple months with gas drops and baby will sleep most of the night. Once a day put a teaspoon of dark corn syrup in the bottle to make him have an easier bowel movement.
Low sleep will cause adrenaline to be poorly regulated and will impact your emotions severely. Also can cause heart attack like symptoms. Hang in there Cap.
Dude, don't apologize for baby. Baby always wins. I wish I could help, I have that baby whisperer power. Your stress actually keeps them up. The rocking chair is not for them, it's for you. I had 7, once I figured out the tricks, you can run them like you fly, you'll be a baby Ace.😂
GR Baby is practicing to do his own videos! You rock GR Baby!
I suggest that we rename GR Baby to Cap Jr.

Have you bought him his first gaming rig yet? Tell the wife it’s a backup machine…
My ex has been getting a real laugh out of your situation. We still get along well, and both of us were remembering the bad old days of thirty years ago!
For some reason every video seems to give me the mental image of a guy dressed in a supervillian outfit, cursing the sky and shouting "Soooooooooock!"
Only difference is now the guy has a baby in a chest-harness monching on an aeroplane-shaped teething ring.
Laughed my head off at the aircraft floating off the carrier.
Lol Cap, we used to sleep when the baby slept. I ended up outlawing family calls to our house after 7pm. Eventually they get on some schedule and you’ll get more sleep. Good luck!
Yup we are pretty much learning this also.
12:45 it is probably a wartime thing. It stresses the airframe so much, that it is better to sent more planes whenever possible. But if needed it can carry it.
Like the Tomcats and their Phoenixes.
They can carry 6, but that's not adviced for everyday use

Cap: once the youngun hits about 4 or 5 months, it’s time to teach them how to fall asleep by themself. We are doing that this week with our 3rd. It’s not fun, but it’s worth it.
Once in bed, after 10 mins of fussing Dad goes in for 1 min of shushing and comfort. Repeat until baby falls asleep. After midnight, baby gets a nappy change, feeding (lights on, keep them awake), a kiss on the cheek, and back in the crib. Takes about 3 days, but doing the work while they’re young is huge.
I remember the good old days when mom looked after the kids (me) and dad worked to pay for it all.
Very nice, I’m sure you guys may know, I usually argue for our (US) tech is it proven, and this is pretty damn good, I’ve never seen or worked on these, but I worked on the modernized versions of 60-60’s tech at base level, with tons of add ons and modern stuff we had to make all work, together, in reality, day to day, of Vietnam era stuff at base level. That still out performed any Russian, let alone soviet crap. Sure the lost modern soviet stuff can be dangerous…but it’s not good, not against truly modern/upgraded stuff. Some russian stuff that is actually modern/good can be very dangerous…but that’s very, very limited. Anyways, I can see at least 2 of our LRASMS to take out a modern BB of WWII, which at that point they are basically super/fast BB’s in size technology and money poured into making them ultimate killing machine and very, very hard to kill, even close to impossible to kill, if they had a full fleets support as they were designed to have. Hell, our (US) BB’s of the teens and twenties, into early 30’s survived close range atomic, and even nuclear blasts, couldn’t sink them, of not basically a direct hit…and that’s with zero crew/damage control…we tested our atom bombs and limited nukes against our oldest. Moth balled BB’s when the Iowas were still in service, before being refit in modern times…our old ones survived the bombs, as in hundreds of meters to a Km away or so of atomic bombs/thermo nuclear warheads, the old BB’s survived, most other ships types didn’t, and our newer ones were a lot better, in many ways. More armor, or equal thickness, but far better quality for all the steel, whether or not armor. Or just structural, tougher. Stronger, harder steel, all around. Less prone to failure that’s why a while back, in one of your vids, I was like no. No single Russian missile would kill an Iowa, especially as they don’t have true AP warheads, or enough explosive mass, I don’t care of their missiles are big and heavy, their HE isn’t kiloton into megaton range HE. If they hit an Iowa, the BB would laugh at their missile and ship. As it’s made to defeat that weight or greater, of a true AP shell, no just explosive mass. Sure, it’d damage the ship/outer systems, to some extent, but wouldn’t come close to sinking a modern BB, so yeah, at least LRASMS to sink a yamoto class, perfectly viable and believeable, it’d probably take like 4-5 plus to sink, say the Bismarck, or a Yamato, or Iowa, part of it would be determined by how experienced and well trained the AA crews are, as the radar of that time may not see them. But eyes will, at a certain range, so if they are very well trained. Experienced and lucky, they may well spot them coming in, and take one or two, by manual fire/sheer luck, thus increasing the number of missiles needed to kill them. Or they out on a hell of a show, trying to bring down the missiles. Honestly think US crews would stand the best chance, especially late war, as we got very experienced with things trying to crash into us, for obvious reasons, more so than any one else. Not saying we’d succeed, we’d have the best chance, possible, with that eras tech, to knock them down, as only the speed would change. Realistically. Besides no guaranteed fire solutions from fire control. So it’s be down to individual skill and initiatiave, we just the lost experience in those fields, and the relative freedom to do so without being severely punished. As long as it worked. Or you became a hero in doing so, haha.
Thanks GR
Thanks Stevie much appreciated.

Beating an enemy aircraft to death with your landing gear DOES have historical precedent; during the Guadalcanal campaign an F-4F Wildcat from the USS Enterprise ran out of ammo during a battle and so he dropped his landing gear, positioned himself above a Japanese bomber and proceeded to beat the crap out of it until something on the Japanese plane broke and it fell out of the sky.
Say what you like about the USN, they do put in a good shift when it comes to attacking an enemy....
3 children in, feel your pain, wish someone had told me sooner that getting them on milk formula once that’s possible makes life a lot easier.
Yup mine is on formula.
That last carrier *must* have been the Zuikaku stand-in, well known for managing to go the entire war undamaged until the actual Battle of the Philippine Sea, notably only after her sister Shokaku finally got sunk (she did have a history of being Zuikaku's meat shield); I've never seen a LRASM miss like that on this channel before, guess she still had a bit of luck on her side.
It's temporary! They grow out of it, be patient. As you grow older, you require less sleep so just think of it as practice.
What a way to enjoy my chicken n chips with tango super....Bravo GR flight
Green Peace would be having a field day...lol
I know this community is very much in love with modern aircraft and weapons systems. But I would *_much, much_* rather see these battles recreated using historically correct vehicles and equipment. Those wings on the battleship's main turrets are rangefinders for when the mast systems are down.
I completely agree, but I've given up with that, it doesn't get any views and essentially puts me out of business.
I, for one, love the next installment of the Final Countdown
All my 4 boys slept through the night as well!
Sokay Cap, you seem like you're going to make a wonderful Dad.
Not a child, but pain wakes me up many times at night. The last full night of uninterrupted sleep was over 6 months ago. cap, can you do a battle where f35bs take off from the back of the 80s mod USS Iowa? I know they were going to do something like that with harriers. Thanks
hmm, will try...
no, no, "beautiful viewers" was exactly right.
When doing an attack and even defense type dealin these videos, would " the circle of death" be a good tactic?
Fat Amy also has sensors on the back and sides as well, so you have 360 degree visibility with the new helmet system
Cap, if people get pissed with you calling the AIs "AI", you could try calling them "bots".
That is how I frequently call video game AI when talking to my Brazilian friends (because it sounds/feels more natural than "AI" in Portuguese), and it probably is more technically accurate than calling them "AI"
I mean that depends on the definition.
AI can be a simple set of instructions with no machinelearning needed

Is it an idea to take some planes and thru waypoints see if you can attack from multiple angles so the missiles do not all approach from the same side but rather from almost all???

Man, that's gunna be big. Those USN fleets were HUGE.
Is having 1 carrier really for a challenge, or is it so you dont melt your pc

Wouldn't it be easier to go around the fighters to launch the antiship missiles from the flanks?
Yup definitely but needed to add some challenge to this one.

Hey GR, suggestion for a video here, try doing a US CSG performing a strike on a Chinese man made island. The first part would be a CAP flight of F-35 and F-18 against land based J-11 and J-16, if you can; then there would be F-35 SEAD with AGM-88G, and lastly a strike by Tomahawks to knock out remaining installations.
Also, remember that the J-11 does not currently have the PL-15 integrated, if you choose to use that.
PL-15 has been spotted on J-11B but is not standered and it is believed that they are just testing it on that platform right now.
@@mattseller148 Ok. I know that the B has a different color radome, and there is speculation (but not confirmation) that it is an upgrade to an AESA, but I never found anything on the PL-15 integration.
Ok sounds good.
I usually use J-15 as a substitute for the J-11/16, as it's hard keeping so many plane types working and active.
@@grimreapers Ah, OK. Well, you could just get way with using the unmodified core game J-11 to represent that.

why not launch the aircraft set some of them to fire using a mix of the two methods? I suspect the actual missiles will be programmable to prioritise key assets, carriers and BBs.

How come the IJN isn't trying to shoot down the missiles?....normally the Ships would fire everything and get a few missiles as in the Battleship vs Missile videos. Of course it would be highly ineffective but with the sheer number of 25mm AA guns and 5 Inch Cannons with Time fused HE shells in that fleet some missiles would be downed
Agreed and I have no idea why. I guess it's because the RCS of the missile is low? And for some reason it confuses ships?
heh. My lockjaw was caused by over ear headphones.
I wonder how deadly warbirds would be if you tuned their engines for 10% more power and gave them IR missiles.
If an AI plane does something weird like not fire all its missiles, can you take manual control of it and finish its mission?
Unfortunately not...
Nope.
"There's something wrong with our bloody ships!"
Why do you worry about cost winning is what matters!
Electro optical sensors can't see through thick clouds - except in the world of DCS!
Mop up with a c-17 dropping a load of LRASM’s
Yarp
Would they sink a battleship? Probably unlikely to get through the belt armour and into the citadel if it doesn’t have an AP warhead. A few could probably mission kill it though by taking out the command and control facilities in the superstructure.
I think it's AP, BUT probably calibrated for modern thin armor, not an old school 16" belt.
If it did a pop-up attack it would have more chances against the superstructure and the deck
That was fun.
Why are the f35s fire ring the LRASM’s from so close ! It has enormous range
In this specific scenario the F-35s had to guide the LRASMs in one-by-one using their electro-optical systems.. so targets needed to be in range of that, you want reduced LRASM flight time to reduce loiter time / fire the next LRASM and be done before a jet's fuel is up. DCS target deconfliction issues, yay - hopefully ED will get around to model some more modern systems of all sorts sooner rather than later.
oof, skipped briefing?
