This car rose out of the ashes like a rusty phoenix turd! I still remember it plastered everywhere on social media. I'm sure I speak for everyone that we'd love a dedicated video about Rusty Slammington!
Bawz, gtfo! You're my favourite WT youtuber and a fan of Rusty Slammington and Mike?! Small world! :)
I agree this car deserves a video on it's own!
I have a mostly original 85' Canadian 635CSi/5 that wears it's patina'd Alpin Weiss paint proudly because of Rusty!
Hey Bawz! I’m your big fan of yours and also happy that you like SW/Mike too. Kinda suprised that i have been on both channels from the start! Love the vids btw.
This car rose from the ashes like a rusty Trombone
Indeed.
😈😈😈 the car you learng to drive in , the car you probably got laid in , the car where you started from . Well done for rebuilding it from nothing ...😈😈😈😈
Big yes for the Rusty only episode, seen rusty in Essen motorshow, and saw the model A cruising in belgium plenty of times
Walks down memory lane make me sick... it screams im washed up and my glory days are behind me. My vote is not to waste your time on this... look only into the future and focus all your enegy into making progress and perfecting your present.
Literally the car that started my interest in bmws on Stanceworks, this is amazing. I remember how heartbroken I was to hear about the fire, glad to see the history all over again!
Same, last I recall was it burned down..I had no idea he rebuilt it in such epic fashion
buying an e28 as a daily while you s54 swapped your e36 in HIGHSCHOOL is crazy. goals to have my kids live a life like that, respect to your parents (and you for the passion).
~ this is sincere btw, i know people say things like this sarcastically but i really mean it.
No for real parents money must be nice.
Definitely would love an episode all about Rusty. I still remember reading your road trip diaries on Stanceworks with this car which is what helped get me into cars in the first place. Then I remember flipping out when I saw that it was resurrected in its current form. If the devil was a car, it would definitely be this one
"I guess Satan wanted his car back"
Rusty was a true masterpiece, I would love to see more about her.
You are an artist Mike, you have a taste when you build like no one else has.
My greatest compliments
Holy smokes, I had no idea of your back catalog of builds. Fantastic stuff.
I'm voting for the extended version of "Rusty". I don't think just one episode would do that much car, and it's full history, justice.
There were a lot of people who followed rusty slammington and weren't aware of the community because back then the social community wasn't a big thing. I was one of them and closely followed rusty slammington's transformation. I never had the taste for slammed cars but something about rusty made me feel different in a good way. I followed each build upto the point where it got burned and tbh i am not going to lie but i was in tears. After many years of no update of the car i simply went to follow other car builds until rusty slammington news came in that its going to be something out of this world. And my lord i was out of words to describe what he created and simply cried all over again feeling relieved and happy to see my favourite build up on the website (yes i was poor and only could read on websites and wasnt aware of CZcams). I wish to see the full story of rusty slammington please. It would really bless my soul of how it all started and what it has became in details.
I like how you were able to turn the fire disaster into an ultimate build. My passion for BMW started when I saw an old school 02’ racing in a Nashville Tennessee mini stock race. Was stationed in Germany and brought back a wide bodied 02 that I had built. Presently building a 1973, the last of the roundies. Love you show!!
That’s some portfolio to be proud of. Keep going Mike.
Seeing some of those really old photos of Rusty, when he was still black brings back so many good memories of the forums. The news of the fire was a horrible one, but what came from the ashes took Rusty and you to the next level.
We want the complete review/overview on rusty!!! Every nitty gritty detail, including what in the hell you were thinking! It was a BOLD move at the time, way ahead of its time!
Man this was a wonderful walk down memory lane. Stanceworks forums where such a major part of my life for years around 2010, and led me into my passion for cars
I would gladly watch an multi episode intensive breakdown about Rusty.
It is my favorite E28 build ever!
As a fan for over 10 years, starting from the SW forum , i would say i love everyone of your cars, but Rusty is more than a car. Its more than a living legend. Rusty marked a whole generation of car tuning that we are currently living. Every car enthusiast on this planet knows this car (maybe they just didnt know it was yours) and if thats not the definition of GOAT i dont know what is.
Have seen this car come up from the begging to the end and then back to the beginning. Very happy to see a fellow Local boy make good.
I think that there are a lot of people in the car community that would appreciate a proper Rusty documentary.
mann....seeing a new video on rusty hit me in the feels. i remember when i was in school still living at home and saving pictures of this thing to the desktop of the family computer hahaahha. legendary
God knows how many times I’ve went through that Rusty build thread back in the day. This car is unapologetically you, all of your builds are, and that’s why I’m religiously following your Ferrari build.
Seriously, your talent is very special. Loved every single one of your builds. Adventurous, visionary but weigh depth and quality!
Thanks for the recap video! I'm newish to your content so it's cool to see your progress through the years.
Rusty was iconic bmw ….. Fell in love with it she. Saw it.. I was like 🤩 😮 ❤❤❤❤❤❤ This is so Awesome
Just realized that your E9 has been my Desktop wallpaper for several years before i started watching your Videos. Keep up the Great work.
We need a full rusty video around 1 or 2 hours - would be so great - especially about the Tube-Frame 🖤
Please do carry on talking about Rusty! So funny that I had almost all of these cars as wallpaper on my computer back in the days without knowing it was the same guy that built them! Keep up the good work!
I had to do some digging.. I joined VWVortex in August of 2001. As an MK3 guy, there are a couple other cars I remember making noise.. Powerhouse Mike's S13 build was so clean.. and then Rusty. I feel like the entire automotive community followed his life. I can still remember seeing the posts after the fire. It was heart breaking. What is cool about this video is that is adds some details I may have not known or forgotten.. a VAC motorsports built motor? I'm sure it was ballsy. Thanks for the update, and continued content.
YES!!!! A rusty video is needed love that car it’s definitely up there as a reason why I am BMW fan 👌🏼👌🏼
That E9 tho, just breathtaking, I don't know why but E9 glass shapes just make me feel warm and fuzzy. That rear glass, muah..chefs kiss.
I need that episode of rusty. That is my favorite car ever built, please bless up with an hour of rusty content
Always loved Rusty from start to finish so yeah a full video about Rusty & a visit to his new owner would rock 😄👍
Full Rusty story would be awesome, I'm here for it.
So good to see Rusty! And the rest of the cars. You’ve done so much rad stuff Mike! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!!!
I have been watching your channel for close to a year and somehow I missed this episode. You build some of CZcamss most amazing cars! Thank you for the review video
That was cool Mike. I'd not seen all of those. Now my week can be filled with 'catching up' on your old projects.
Kind of crazy seeing cars that I loved & didn't know you were the builder. 😎Keep it up.
I enjoyed the break from build videos. Getting some history. This was awesome! Ive been watching since like episode 30 of the Ferrari build.
I remember when you called me while the garage was burning. Was so relieved that everyone was ok. It truly sparked a new phase of your life with cars. A look back always feels good when you can draw upon such fantastic examples of personal success. So happy about your present and couldn't be more excited for your future. We are all so thankful and excited to spend the 20 minutes a week with you watching these ideas you have come to life.
''every time a door closes another one opens''
Best youtube content hands down. Love it!
I love the variety of stuff you are into!
Awesome vid Mike - so many cool cars.... I remember seeing Rusty pre-roof chop and loving it then, moreso after!!! Made a big splash on the UK BMW scene in the day. Keep up the great work bud
Rusty is still the synthesis of what brought me to Stanceworks! Your work inspired more people than you can imagine
Rusty got me into bmws
Thank-you for this, I didn't know anything about you until the start of the Ferrari, a belated introduction for me in the UK, excellent !!
The E9 has to be my favourite. I go back to that video every few months
Rusty is the car that I always think of when reminiscing about the Nashville car scene back in early 2010s. My most viewed photos from those meets. Would love more videos on it
I remember seeing pictures of Rusty when I was a junior in high school and getting into cars, and especially e30s and e28s. It was my hero car, and I loved every single second of it. When it burned to the ground and turned into a literal race car, it was like seeing a nightmare scenario turning into perfection. I’ll always have a place in my heart for that car, and I’m so glad you had the dedication and perseverance that all of us wish we had.
was actually thinking about this car a few months ago. good to see its still around
My favourite episode, I've been waiting like 10 years to see the full story, I think it's been 7 years since I saw the car in person at SEMA. I believe this one ranks as one of the coolest BMW's every modified
Been following you since the Ferrari start, this is a very cool update where you see where come from and all the awsome builds you have done. Thank you for making really nice content, and looking forward to see your hard work paying off.
Please, please and please... more stories about Rusty! What an amazing car!!!
Awesome projects. I really admire Your design approach making these cars, all look so cool.
Awesome I liked the talk over mountage of some of your other builds. 🤘👍
I had an e28 as my daily back when Rusty and Stanceworks first became a thing, amazing to see it again!
Love it! An episode on any of the old builds would be totally cool! Also "the projects are never gonna stop" yeah the best line ever!!! Keep the garage full!
Brings me back, I remember reading the saga of this car on R3v and BFc from the very start. I even remember when you first got the chassis because I had been following your E36 build at that point. When it first started R3v was pretty "purist" with lots of OEM+ cars, so yours stuck out like a sore thumb. Nice to see a timeline of everything compressed, and great to know that it has an S38 powering it nowadays. Thanks for sharing
Big rusty episode would be incredible. I loved everything about rusty. And I wasn't even in the BMW community. Who doesn't love rusty
I'd love to see a Slammington episode at some point for sure. Thanks for the backstory, I looked for old videos when I found your channel and was disappointed not to find much.
Yes dude, Rusty Slammington deserves it's own episode.
Big YES for a Rusty Slammington Episode!
I got onboard with this channel mid May threw the Ferrari. This was a great video because I was also wondering what’s next and if I would enjoy it. Thank for the refresh and Reassurance.
Weirdly I was thinking of this car just this morning and here you go and release a video about it!
Stanceworks was such a nice place to visit and I have fond memories of your cars, even before I had a decent project years and years ago. I dig my laptop out the other day after several years and its got a stanceworks desktop of the model a!
Amazing vid, never knew how many insane builds you had! the rims on the E28 are easily my favorite, just unreal.
Love this walk down memory lane.
As always, great work and I’m glad I was there to witness it all happen in real time on the forum.
Mex
A video or series of them on rusty would be greatly received. Fascinating car.
I’m glad you did this episode!
Holy crap this is a blast from the past, I remember this build like 12 years ago!
Great decision to make this video. I knew Stanceworks from video game decals, a bmw clip on CZcams and now your Ferrari built which I saw every episode till the end.
This video now shows who you are and what you accomplished so far..well done
Those cars are amazing. I can only imagine when you think of how you used to do things and how you do them now with more knowledge and tools, you must smile a bit. I realize how many hours go into editing and I am sure that has become so much more refined too. I will say it again, I really enjoy your honest approach and transparency.
"Can be forgetful" :) Love it!
Bloody hell I love these builds
Yes, more on Rusty Slammington!! That car is sic!
That is just a fantastic build. I love slammed cars and this one is a beast.
Rusty inspired me when I was in high school. I used to surf through all the forums and see it pop up. Definitely demanded attention. I help you one year at SoWo to remove the hood off of it. It was when it was running the 3 piece AC Schnitzers. Then I remember seeing it at H2Oi with the chop top and the gold Ronal’s and I was more in love! It was the last year at the Horse Racetrack. Brian Henderson had the B8 wagon out there in the blue NUE’s. Then the news came out on the Stanceworks forum of the garage catching on fire. It hit me hard, too. I was sad to see it go. I waited for years to see the resurrection and when it finally did, it did not disappoint. Keep at it Mike! I admire all your builds and they inspire me. I remember when the Ford Model A was still a concept in your mind. You, Matt Crooke, and I were having lunch in Big Bear for #OccupyBigBear and you mentioned doing the skinny RS’s for it. I thought it was a fantastic idea that hadn’t been done yet. Love your crazy ideas man. Cheers! 🍻
Go to town on talking about you past projects man. I'd love to see any content you put out there on any of these great builds. Thanks for sharing the passion
I'm a newer subscriber and I had no idea of the cars from your past. Thanks for the update on your past rides.
Rusty is an icon and deserve a full series, it really has the greatest story of any car out there. I know of you because of it and I’m sure most people do as well. Rusty owned the internet back around 2010 and seeing it rise from the ashes was so memorable and to this day is one of my favorite builds.
One of my all time favorite builds.
Awesome!! You sure can work! Totally impressed! Congrats 😅
Take me back to the good ol days where there was a 100 page write up on the SW forum. This car is such a legend!
I love every one of those builds! I love your creativity 👊
Proud to say ive been a StanceWorks follower since the beginning in 2009 it would be awesome to see more footage of Rusty & your other builds after all it would be nice tribute to show how far yourself & the StanceWorks family has grown to date.
E28 it was my 1st car,so loving memories you brought to me,beatifull car.....very nice, thank you
Full Rusty Slammington episode would be sick!
Honestly, I have to thank you guys and all your fans for bringing back TURBO WHEELS OWN YOU. It's so hard to keep my old database of turbo wheels together because of how many are coming out now. I had to give up sadly. The internet has gotten much larger since 2002 :D
I Love your taste in cars! Many of those BMWs like the E9 you had were my wallpaper cars because i could never stop looking at them. Im also a BMW guy and this video made me giggle like a small kid :D Bravo Master!
Love your work. Keep it up.
Used to spend hours on the Stanceworks forum back in the day. The rusty slammington thread was epic. It was cool to see some more footage of the car. Would love to see a dedicated video, such a cool story!
Loved this episode 👌
DEFINITELY…I love that BM and had no idea that you were responsible…do a whole detailed series pleeeeease😎…love your work and fantastic vids…cheers 🍻
What a beauty. Raw metal and purely mechanical.
Good video. I have only been following for a little bit. The Model A is what caught my eye. Keep up the builds.
Awesome, truly awesome!
The car that in its og form is i think the prettiest car ever. Have always loved this build man
Oh man... I have a clean E12 520 that I’ve driven twice since I bought it 4 years ago. I’m for sure loving the BMW builds. Totally feeling the e36. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Of course we want to hear more about Rusty, we are here for the builds/cars
Rusty slammington was a sick build. Remember reading about it burning down and then you bringing it back from the dead.
YES! More Rusty! Had the second version of it as wallpaper on my laptop back in 2009/10-ish
Love what it became
Rusty with the gold Ronals just killed it! Had that car as my wallpaper for like 2 years. I'd love to find those wheels for my E30 M3.....
Damn this brings back a lot of good memorys! I remember reding stanceworks articles with a crappy browser extension translating words i hovered over to german, as i was just learning english in school. Tbh i think i learned more english from your articles than from my teacher.
And to your question, hell yeah i wanna see more content of Rusty and your other old builds!
Crazy seeing how time flys and how manny cool cars you've build over the years, always improving and learning new skills. Keep up the good work
Full rusty episode for sure!
I remember always ready the Stanceworks build thread in 2010 & being so excited for all the updates as they came over the years.
