    Very good and informative video really like your videos mate!!
    Shotguns can be very cheap, and for people starting out you don’t need to spend thousands on them, my guns are
    Webley and Scott 912 -£450
    Hatsan escort - £260
    AYA Yeoman o/u - £60
    AYA Yeoman s/s -£50
    Baikal - £40
    And they all do pretty much the same job!

    Don't know why people talks as if gun laws here in the UK is all the same here in Northern Ireland we don't have to apply for section 1 or 2 licences for shotguns or get a heavily restricted section 5 for handguns everything here is covered by a firearms certificate plus we can use personal protection as a reason to own a firearm and even have concealed carry handguns so we are far slacker that way than England anyways but we can't have anything over 1joule of power without an FAC unlike England and Wales you can have air rifles up to 12ftp without a section 2 seemly Scotlands gun laws is messed up

    Kind of blows my mind bc shotguns in general are like the base minimum of gun ownership in the US. Most people consider them boring at this point and manual action firearms in general of all types aren’t a political issue. Most people would consider something like a Mossberg 590, 7 shot as the entry level shotgun of choice

    Great content as always. Could you talk about section one certificate please. Im considering obtaining a firearm certificate but is a bit complicated process in UK. In my area most clubs are .22, .177 cal air rifle so there is no place to even target practice with centerfire ammo.

    Why do most use the over/under instead of the semi- auto 1+2?

    • @samswann3727
      @samswann3727 Před 3 měsíci +4

      Most people getting a shotgun license are doing it for clay pigeon shooting, most clay grounds only allow you to load 2 cartridges at once, require you to put your spent cartridges in a bin, and carry the gun broken open between stands. If you have a semi auto you can only load 2 cartridges anyway, you are constantly picking up spent cartridges as opposed to just pulling them out the gun and sticking them in a pocket/ bin next to the stand, and you are constantly having to either bag or use a chamber flag between stands so it’s just easier. Those that want to get a shotgun for shooting animals will often get a semi auto.
      A lot of semi auto shooters have one on a firearms license so they can have more than 2+1 and do practical shotgun etc.
      Hope that sums it up.

    What about pistol grip only shotguns. And what I don't get is the only semi-automatic you can have as a 22 rifle but they let you have semi-automatic shotguns which could cause a lot more damage shows you that the people who write the laws have no idea what they're talking about
    And that last shotgun you showed the section one you have better laws than some states in regards to that shotgun would be illegal in places like California New Jersey New York

    didnt know u were into gaming . Btw isnt the XPS 12 only 20 inches long (barrel) ? , someone told me the minimum barrel length for a shotgun is 24 inches in the UK

    • @sierratango69
      @sierratango69 Před měsícem

      Shotgun length laws are a bit complex. For s2 it’s easy - 24” barrel minimum. For s1, if it is pump action or semi auto, it is either 24” barrel length OR 40” overall length. If it isn’t either of those action types, then it has to fall under the 12” barrel / 24” overall length laws. So a lever action with a 12” barrel is fine. But again, that’s only for s1.

  • @lawrencemartin1113

    Section 2 allows you to own a shotgun with a maximum of 3, not 2 rounds. All semi autos can.legally hold 3 rounds on a shotgun cert.

    • @UKGuns
      @UKGuns  Před 20 dny +1

      @lawrencemartin1113 not quite correct. As I explain in the video it's "2 + 1" the law states that a section 2 shotgun can hold a maximum of 2 rounds in the magazine tube. The law DOES NOT make any mention of the chamber and thus TECHNICALLY you can put a third round in the chamber. But the fact remains that the capacity of the shotgun is 2. Hence why we call it "2 + 1"

      @@UKGuns I stand corrected! Although even my FEO clearly has no clue on that either!! No surprise there then.
      Thank you for clarifying that. Firearms law in the UK contains so much utter nonsense.
      The sooner they get their ducks in a row with genuinely clear and straightforward regs the better for all. Things might be moving at a glacial pace to change the utter nonsense of having to put moderators onto an FAC. That, at least would be a small but significant step.
      Thanks again for the detail. 👍🏻😊

    Hi great video, thank you for sharing. I got a question, with the Section 1 there is quantity limitations ? is the quantity liked with the type ? for example can I have one rifle and one shotgun

    • @UKGuns
      @UKGuns  Před 10 měsíci

      Hi, thanks! So basically with section 1 you would need to apply for every type of firearm you wish to aquire (you would need to have "good reason" for each one.) It's a lot to explain here (I plan on doing a video on it at some point) but basically you request each firearm i.e 1 x .223 Rifle, 1 x 12 Gauge shotgun etc then your licence will have those firearms listed on it and you can acquire those (and ONLY those) firearms. If at any point you needed/wanted something else you would need to submit a variation to change your licence accordingly. Hope that makes sense?

    • @UKGuns
      @UKGuns  Před 4 měsíci +2

      It's technically 2 but you can have an additional 3rd round in the chamber (which is why they are often referred to as "2 + 1") so the magazine tube has to be limited to 2. You can odcourse get capacity above 2 cartridges but then this would require a firearms certificate as opposed to a shotgun certificate and is much harder to obtain in the UK.

  • @TheBrettMizer
    @TheBrettMizer Před 29 dny

    I know they don't like you guys using shotgun slugs but can you do a cut shell where the whole shell acts as a projectile or nothing would prevent you from taking out the shot getting a 72 caliber round ball mold and making your own slugs I highly doubt the police would know what you're shooting out of your gun

  • @briansolomon6153

    please get it right for a sgc you do NOT HAVE TO HAVE A PLACE TO SHOOT IT AND YOU CAN HAVE A 2 +1 ON sction 2
    no you load 1 into the chamber then load the 2 shot mag

    • @UKGuns
      @UKGuns  Před 10 měsíci +1

      Did you watch the whole video? I clearly explained what a 2 + 1 is and section 2. Also for a section 2 you still need good reason and whilst you dont need land to shoot on (I also explain that in the video) you do need to demonstrate what you intend to use the shotgun for. I.e attending a clay pigeon shooting ground (again I explain this in the video)

    • @briansolomon6153

      when i said 1st comment it was when you said you could only have 2 shots that was long b4 you said about 2+1 secondly for a section2 shotgun you do not have to provide a good reason as long as you met the critria on standing etc and no danfer to yourself or the public it is a shall issue unlike a fac
