Nice 410. I know many people in the southeastern US that shoot quail with 410’s. Understand it’s place as a sub gauge skeet gun, but for sporting I won’t go smaller than a 28.
Vote for next video would be 410 vs 28 patterns and clay breaking abilities.

Because of a medical problem, I can not shoot anything bigger than a .410. I’d like to see anything you can toss at us. I shoot 150-200 rounds of .410 each week. Of course I handload all my ammo do to the cost and availability of ammo here in Arizona USA. I never feel under gunned no mater which clay targets I’m shooting except bunker and sometimes wobble trap depending on which club we shoot. I’ve always shot mostly skeet and trap. The last four years I’ve discovered sporting clays and really enjoy it more than anything. On our 13 station layout I can hit 65%-85% of the targets thrown, depending on if I can point my gun properly that day. None of our targets are set for .410’s. Some are 60+ yardage. My long shots are all razor blade hits, but it still looks good I’d the score pad. I think you should look at the Rizzini BR 110 sporting clays model in .410. I had one for 10 months and thought it was the best shotgun I’d ever owned in Europe I believe you can get a 110 with 32” barrels. I bought mine after contacting Carlos Rizzini living in Ireland. My 110 had unbelievably tight chambers and was difficult to chamber some of my reloaded 3” cartridges. The best scores I ever shot were with the BR 110. Wish we could have the same availability of different ammo manufacturers as you guys in the UK!!!!!!!!!!Thank you for all you wonderful and interesting shooting and shotgun videos!!! I hope someday you can visit Arizona when you’re here in the states. Word of warning, don’t plan your trip when it’s 46 C or warmer here in the “Valley of the Sun” Arizona!!!!!

I remember as a lad of 10 with my mate Rob. His dad had a few shotguns all SXS. He used to give us a bolt action .410 to go out to the back field with a box of shells to shoot old coke cans with a .22 launcher. Great times and memories indeed!!! You just have to love the .410 and great for kids who would like to have a go under supervision of course unlike me and my mate Rob!!! Well it was the 70's with paper cartridges and all that!! Great vid team TGS. Looking forward to what you have for us in 2024...

My 8yr old daughter has just started shooting a .410, mainly based on her size and to build confidence and build proper safety. If she was scared of the gun or flinching, I don’t think she’d achieve that. As soon as she wants to try sporting clays, I can see her stepping up to a 20bore, but that’ll be a nice problem to have, and for now we’re having great fun breaking clays on canes and learning together.

Sadly here in the US, 410 ammo doesn't appear to be in good supply. I'm reloading so not a big deal. 28 is surprisingly more available. Maybe the reason my most recent purchase was a 28ga 686 field with 30" barrels. It's only 6lb 3oz.
Regarding the 410, I'd been advised to run IM and Full. Need to do some pattern testing.

Hi Jonny, I am a regular game shooter with a 4/10. I generally use Clever Mirage 19.5 gram 5s and Winchester Super X 4s with threequarters and full choke. Both of these cartridges don't seem to be available in Britain at the moment.
The thinking behind it is a total hit or miss.
Hardened 4/10 shooters seem to use this theory which I have basically copied but does seem to work well.
Likewise I do need to pattern test it.

I have two Beretta Silver Pigeon III 2 barrel sets in 410 and 28 gauge. Why two of them? It's because they are a spot on perfect (Browning) fit and I shoot 4 gun Skeet which means they see a lot of use. Note the #1 set has been put aside so I can correct all the little nicks and dents in the stock acquired by last summers shooting and to get the #2 set broken in. BTW, both sets have EELL wood upgrades so they are quite pretty. Chokes. I learned early on with the #1 gun that cylinder chokes with the 410 will produce large enough holes for a target to pass thru at about 30 yards. Note, that was revealed by my Shotkam 3. It was high 1 and you can see the shot string surrounding the target until they hit the resolution limit for the camera and the string disappers. BTW, that is about 45 yards. After seeing that I called up Briley and ordered up extended Skeet Improved (0.007) chokes for both barrels. The #2 gun is also equipped with the same chokes but for the 28 gauge barrel on #2 they are optima HP. I've since shot some 5 stand with the 410 and it will yield a robust break on a looper 50 yards out. Note, in the USA the legal load for 410 Skeet is a 2 1/2 (63mm) shell with 1/2 (14 grams) of shot.

Great video JC & after your epic .410 experience in the Dominican Republic last year I looked into adding a .410 to my shotgun collection. For me - here in the USA, the difficulty I quickly found was the availability and cost of .410 cartridges. .410 can be difficult to find and when available its significantly more expensive than .12g & even .20g cartridges. Hopefully this will improve in the coming months... Cost might not improve but availability 🤞

Here in Wisconsin I use the same loads for all disciplines SKEET, TRAP AND SPORTING using 8-1/2 shot. Of course our sporting targets tend to be shorter ranges than your bigger clubs. I have been looking forward to this film, and it did not disappoint🙂 I love my 686 supporter adjustable I have recently purchased. I have shot scores not far behind the ones that I normally shoot with my 12 gauge. it good for skeet. I’ve taken it on Drive with my syndicate. shot sporting clays. rough shooting game, but it really comes into its own when upland shooting, and you do not want a heavy gun. I took it on a walked up day at Gwysaney It was fantastic. Perfect for closer stuff. that’s a 12 would make a mess of. Choice of cartridge seems really important to ensure good clean kills on game as well as good breaks at clays. When I bought my 410, I took it to pattern it, and was amazed how small the pattern was. And was also surprised at what difference choke made. I like full choke and 7 to increase the pallet count. I would like to see your next film to be pattern testing with different chokes and cartridges then for 410 versus 28 . Then some competition shooting.😊

My daughters have both learned to shoot with a .410 because the recoil and weight aid them learning the safety and the fundamentals of position and hold. They shot it more like an air rifle. Once they learned to hit the most simple teal then they moved on to 20b. I would not want to go straight to crossers as you say. They need to have natural talent and luck a plenty!!

You are wrong in so many ways. The art of the 410 is that you put the gun in the right place and it will kill with the correct cartridge yet at the same time you can have a gun that’s lightweight low recoil and can cater for those who cannot shoot or isn’t quite at the level of a 28, 20 or 12. From young children to those with medical conditions. To say it’s not a beginner’s gun is silly when most of us started shooting with a bolt action or folding 410. Peace and love

It could be a 9lb 12bore with 42 gram loads at 80yrds birds painful !! or 410 19 gram loads at 35 yrds pleasant !! you have to point both guns in the the right place to get the same outcome its what do you want to us to get there. it has to br pleaerable

I love my little 410 but here the 410 ammunition is expensive and hard to come by, I have to drive to a gun shop 45 mins away to get it, this year I bought a 20 gauge because of it

"Pattern density kills birds" - "More lead, more dead"
Fewer pellets need more choke. The same applies in all gauges...
Pitting the .410 against the 28 bore is pointless. It's a unique gauge so how can it be compared to others.
Pattern testing the .410 is very useful information to anyone. You will quickly see that fewer pellets need more choke....

Huge push to sell on the shelf 410's before the steel ban, thus making the 410 almost obsolete.

@@stevenlord782 I use Winchester 3/8oz or 10.6gram Fe6 at 1400fps in my 410s with swappable extended chokes. Works fine within 25m or so, and as always pattern first to verify which choke works best with it..

As I have told you previously if you want to do well in the English 410 championship have Jim at Longthorne build you a barrel set for your 12 bore Longthorne that has the same balance as your 12 bore barrel. He could flute the outside of barrels to match the weight and they would look really cool..I shot my MT-6 with Briley titanium tubes for American skeet for many years and broke many 100 straights..I shot the 28 bore tubes for the 12, 20 & 28 events as my 28 average was better tha using 12 bore and 20 bore ammo..28 bore is the most balanced shotgun load and the other well balanced is the 10 bore...

I don't know if this is a different ratio shot than before... But I really like it. It's much more movies.
The gun, I don't know. Do I need .410? No. Do I want one? I don't know. Does it cross my mind that it would be a good little quail and woodcock gun? Yeah. And that would be fun to go shoot clays on the weekend occasionally? Yeah
I don't know. I think I would just rather have something more interesting. And then be satisfied with what I got.... And not left after other stuff... Well that happen? No
