JOSEPH WILLIAMS, who was born without a jaw, never thought he would find love - until he met his wife, Vania. The 41-year-old from Chicago has a rare congenital disorder, otofacial syndrome, which left him unable to speak or eat with his mouth. Instead, he relies on an eating tube and communicates through a mobile device and sign language. In 2019, Joseph and Vania met at work and became friends. Despite Joseph's facial difference, Vania fell in love with him. Their relationship has faced judgement from families, friends and even strangers online - but the couple, who have been happily married for two years, believes their love goes way beyond their physical difference.

He was a teacher's helper at the elementary school I attended as a kid. I've never felt scared, threatened, nor disgusted by him once. I'm so happy he is living his best life and is married! You go Joe!!

As a fellow disabled person im really impressed by her honesty in saying how it was uncomfortable and hard at first. These are normal emotions and reactions when meeting someone with a disability and rather then pretending those awkward moments aren't real or happening and instead acknowledging it just shows how true her feelings and love are for him. Love doesn't come easy and good things are worth working hard for. Thank you for seeing the human and the soul behind the disability and being patient with yourselves and mostly others. ✌🧡🦓

I have Asperger and if I found someone I wouldn't tell unless they found out somehow, I rather be that quirky person that autistic person. People are just always surprised when we see an odd couple, just because, well, they are an odd couple. I just saw a very young pretty girl w/ an older, fat, and homely guy, w/ no money, and a cane, who uses a mobility scooter. They were super happy together, so all the more power to them. They still make you do one heck of a double take though.
Of course, because that woman would have a ton of options. She's as gorgeous as many of these IG models with a million followers and men throwing themselves at her. On the other hand that guy's dating options are going to be extremely limited. He's literally like the luckiest guy on earth.
Growing up in Chicago I remember seeing him one day walking home from school in the 6th grade. My mom always taught me it wasn’t polite to stare but I stared at him. I wasn’t scared I was intrigued and wanted to know what happened. Of course I never asked and kept walking but I remember hearing a sound of talking from a device he had asking someone he picked up from school how their day was and I thought it was nice that he asked. I was 11 then, I’m 32 now but as soon as I saw this I recognized him. I’m genuinely happy for this couple ❤

My dad got married at 47, had 2 daughters, mum was 31 but even as a teenager, it was dad who was full of life and played cricket with us, rode horses with us etc. Guy in our church was even older, late 50's and found the most lovely ywife. Now he has 3 boys, full of life, everybody is eell and happy. Never give up!!!😊

I’m sorry but what’s wrong with being selective? Especially when it comes to the inner qualities of your partner and the quality of the relationship everyone should be very selective. As someone who is also disabled hearing her say she was ashamed and embarrassed in the beginning really made me sad. It my greatest fear to be someone my partner is not PROUD of. I applaud her honesty and she seems to love him now but it stung ngl.

I’m sure it did sting but we have to appreciate her honesty. And the fact she was able to look past his disability and get to know him is awesome. Most ppl are far too superficial to even try. the vulnerability that the "disability" gives you. But that's also what makes us a little different. I've always admired that we were able to see a soul a it better because we had to take a step back and be more vulnerable than a lot of other people. So people can believe what they want, but it's a soul connection. It's not about the temporary matrix body because deep down, our souls know that it's bigger than that.

I think what a lot of people do is project a form of a insecurity. That they themselves could not fall in love with someone with disabilities. This is one of the few episodes from this series where I dont find their relationship off-putting - they are really in love and one is simply disabled. They aren't inviting strangers into their bed..they are just in love despite some hurdles.
