Thanks! Some advice if you are interested.. As an engineering student you'll find in your career that there are, in general, two types of engineers: The type who follow 'the book' and try to CYA by following standards even when they make no sense leading to erroneous conclusions, and those who think for themselves to solve problems and work to understand that which they are working on on a deeper level. The prior group will generally get ahead and move up the ladder, the latter group may or may not and only the most dedicated have much of a chance of making it but those who do are the ones who truly create, innovate, and make a difference. I understand why people make the choice either way as one has to do what they feel is best for themselves.
Hello everyone! At this point this video is only a one-off and I do not plan on returning to youTube full time - perhaps part time. This was an old video that I 'forgot' to publish at the time and while I would like to start making videos again (and I have a large number of video ideas in queue) there are practical reasons why this is unlikely to happen in the near future. Thank you everyone for your support and I appreciate your understanding in this matter. I have recorded a number of videos in the past year or so in an attempt to start again but have been disappointed in their quality and haven't uploaded them. I seem to have lost the mojo I once had when this was a hobby/passion and I don't want to just upload crap for the sake of uploading something.
I'm just glad to see any of your work. I've never seen anyone put out a video series on inverter upgrades. Maybe this is something you could tackle that would be fun.

It's okay I been watching your videos for awhile they are awesome keep this up I been watching your videos since 2017 and yeah I watched them and I like them they are awesome when it comes to batterys and power inverter I have an everstart power inverter can you do a video of an everstart power inverter review and testing I want to know if it's pure sign wave or mosfiy sign wave
You don't know me and I don't know you. Really glad you're still with us. But man, I was really worried about you. Hope you're doing fine. I was regularily checking your YT account.

I can totally understand getting burned out with CZcams. It's not what it once was. Still looking for one of those Craftsman scope meters, just for curiosity's sake. (I did find a much earlier version of one.)
Thanks for your comment and support! Yeah, those Craftsman scope meters were ahead of their time - 20 years ago - but now they are more of a curiosity. 10 years ago one used to be able to find them on eBay fairly regularly. Not so much anymore.
What a nice surprise!! Still a subscriber after all these years. Checked in once in a while and watched an old video or two for old times sake. Then, BAM!! what is that in my suggested videos? I couldn't believe it. Take care, and I hope to see a video once in a while. I completely understand about the mojo.
I found this new video while searching for one of your old ones for research purposes. Yes, you're one of my teachers for this subject. Nice to see you back, if temporarily.
OMG im so happy your back, we all thought you died! ? where you been ?!?!?!?!?! dont worry about the writers block, 60,000 subscribers do not come easy! you sir are awesome!
So glad to see you’re doing ok. Your videos were the first I discovered and subscribed to on CZcams. I can always count on them to be both educational and entertaining. I look forward to whatever you choose to share in the future. Be well!!!
I am very happy to see that you are still around and doing videos. I have watched every episode you have posted and really enjoy your inverter and power supply repair videos. I hope you will be doing more of them.

Glad to see you are still alive and kicking! Your videos inspired me to do some pretty involved projects. Thx for all that you have done, and hoping to see you do some more in the future!
Thanks for the comment! I am happy to know that my videos have had a positive impact on someone's life. Comments on youTube are so often the result of the worst in people and it gets draining to read them. Feedback like this means more than you might think to individual youTuber's like myself.
I purchased several of these for me and for my adult progeny. Glad to know these little power houses are quite capable to jump the car battery and are built with quality parts. I keep a 60 Watt solar panel with a 200 Watt approx. solar power generator with the matching cables to jump the jumper Bestek :) & or various other things like the cell phone, lighting hook-ups and the tire pump in the vehicle for just in case. There are now more powerful units available, as I am sure you know, but this unit ought to last 10 years or so as adequate back-up until it may need replacing for those wondering.
I'd be surprised if a device like this truly lasted 10 years in a realistic use environment, but as gimmicky as they look they actually do work! Best to test them every couple of years to make sure they still work as expected.
Thank you for the comment and support. People expect high quality content and video anymore that takes a lot of time and expense to produce, and I've found it difficult to achieve that level with the limited resources I have on hand. I do intend to produce an infrequent stream of videos in the near future though I cannot claim the quality will be as high as I would like. CZcams isn't what it used to be and professional content creators have captured most of the market. I don't claim to be, or want to be, a professional youTuber.
@@knurlgnar24 I understand completely. Making quality videos takes a boatload of work (I have tried in the past... for me the juice was not worth the squeeze). Regardless, I look forward to whatever videos you do put out in the future.

Updates on your projects would be cool, but I know setting aside time to "do youtube" isn't always easy, or even something you feel like doing even once in a while when daily life is enough mind entertainment.
Glad to see you back! I always enjoyed your videos especially on inverters. Heres hoping you come back to youtube regularly and maybe once you get going the mojo will return!
wow man, so happy to see you back, I love your videos, and like others was concerned if you were okay, keep up the amazing vids, have been a long time subscriber and some how youtube unsubscribed me
Welcome back my friend, you've been missed!! I purchased a DeWalt lighter socket inverter from Home Depot a week ago for under $30 and I'm really impressed with it. Maybe you can do a review on it? Can't wait to see your next video.
Hello there, great to find you again on CZcams. I like some others would be honored for your return to making content. That 12v generator you made prompted me to gather things I've found on the curbside to make one of my own. (much to my wife's dismay) until it saves our bacon, like other "junk" I've got hanging around in my shed has inthe past.
That's actually one of the inverters I'd like to test at some point! I also haven't seen a 'good' review in my opinion. From what I've seen I have low expectations though..
@@knurlgnar24 A couple of videos for you to watch and hopefully get you "motivated" ! "I really wish you'll keep up it" there is people like me that wish to have some one like you to make their own "Large transformer type inverter"... well hope to hear from you soon!!
Great video. Now I know enough to stay with the sealed acid battery jump starters. The lithium jump starters probably work well but I don`t need to see flames coming out of my truck`s glove box after it bakes in the hot sun. You haven't done many reviews on the current generation pure sine inverters. I was wondering how they actually shape a pure sine wave compared to a modified wave inverter. I have a go power 300 watt Pure Sine inverter and it really does not run my drill any better than my modified sine wave inverter. Makes me wonder if it really is a pure sine inverter. A good topic would be parasitic draw caused by automotive computers and how long will a vehicle battery last when not driven. I recently learned the hard way that anything you plug into the diagnostic link, example a driving computer greatly increases parasitic draw. Great to see you back.
Would be interesting to get feedback from you on how well your battery bank held up over time , and how your inverters held up also and a comparison to what is on the market today.
I haven't done much with the battery bank or my inverters in the past 6 years or so to be honest, and I ended up having to recondition my Powersafe SBS battery bank again this year to get it back into shape. (BTW, after reconditioning it now performs better than after the 1st time I did it, so I guess you could say it held up well) Inverter performance/quality has clearly taken a nosedive though and it is difficult to find anything good at a reasonable price anymore. If you can find one of those old Cotek/Samlex inverters, get it. I do have one of the new Cotek 4kw inverters that they replaced the old ones with and while it's a good inverter the old 3kw unit outperforms the new 4kw one. I now have a Magnum PAE and some SMA 6048's that I've yet to put through their paces as they are known good products. Not exactly low cost though and I don't have a lot of recommendations for a $300 style inverter.
Welcome back . Don't go silly posting videos one or two good sensible videos a year is ok . If you think its interesting please do post it . You do a better job than most on youtube . We trust your judgment ! 70% of videos on youtube you'll smell fertilizer in the first minute ! It then gets copied by the ID 10 T lot thinking that's how it's done .
Thanks for the comment and support David! At this point I don't know if I'll be making videos again or not. I do have a good number of ideas and items/inverters/chargers/batteries/equipment sitting around that makes me think 'Hey, this would make a good video!'. I've also acquired a good number of inverters in the past years. As far as inverter repair videos specifically it has become very difficult to find good repairable inverters for sale online anymore. It seems others have discovered that there can be money in repairing these units so any positive revenue would depend solely on views as I'd make next to nothing on the repair itself. That rock has been squeezed to the point of blood coming out of it..
i have wondered where the F you went. any content is better then nothing for 4 years. your older video helped with so many projects one way or another. dont be a stranger... your subs may be able to help with that mojo!
Rumor became CZcams legend that you had perished in a horrific laboratory explosion caused by the fumes of your newly converted non-CARB compliant gas can. Everyone was thinking "those hippie sons of bitches at CARB were right all along!"
I'm sure there are 156 comments below this one saying how happy we are to see this... I would agree complete junk is of little use... but I'm seriously doubting anything you would record would be so. I don't upload video's for this very reason... not going to spend hours of my life editing something, and I hope you don't either. Life is WAY to short. The trick is to think about it carefully before hand and then just do it in one take and we get what we get... or so I hear others saying. :)
Nothing I do would be worth watching in a single take unless you want to see how to screw up something in real-time. :) If I ever finish it the next video will be recovering a completely dead UPS battery using lab style equipment. Yup, another video where I blab about stuff while the camera looks at a battery for 15 minutes... This is in comparison to my other video where I use a crude garage-tool method. Thanks for your support and comment.
Hi just wondering if you can help just installed a flamezum 12v pure sine wave Inverter to my motorhome it's a 5000w/2500w continuous I've connected it two varta 90 amp batteries in parrell the inverter is showing 13.2 input when I try to run a 700w microwave for a second a low voltage protection fault comes up could this be because the cables are to small if you have any suggestions it would be a massive help. thank you
Are they 90Ah batteries or is that an amperage rating? I will assume they weigh 50lb each or so which means they will be just sufficient to power your microwave but not enough for the full 2500W rating of the inverter. As for cables this video series covers what you need but as for my generic recommendation I would suggest using at a minimum 0AWG cabling and keeping the lengths less than 6ft. If the cables are 2/0AWG or heavier you can increase the length. It sounds like a cabling issue to me. What AWG cables do you have right now?
@@knurlgnar24 to be honest with you I'm using 200 amp car jumping cables for the parallel of the two batteries thyer not very thick the inverter is only about 2 feet away from the batteries
Been quite a while since I've made this video so I don't recall the details and I may have made a mistake. Buck/Boost is normally avoided unless absolutely necessary for practical reasons so it isn't the 1st thing I would have assumed. In most applications you're better off with two separate converters.

It then gets copied by the ID 10 T lot thinking that's how it's done .
are you back at making videos? so great i love the inverter repair videos
That rock has been squeezed to the point of blood coming out of it..
four years later
i have wondered where the F you went. any content is better then nothing for 4 years. your older video helped with so many projects one way or another. dont be a stranger... your subs may be able to help with that mojo!
Where
have you been ??!!
Thaught you was Dead ??
Glad your o k 👍
Omg i vant bolive it i hope you came back to stay
Maybe I missed it, but what cells are in this?
@@knurlgnar24 the batteries say 90ah
Unfortunately you are wrong, it's a buck-boost converter, it's not just buck, and there is no other SMPS behind the circuit. But great video
Been quite a while since I've made this video so I don't recall the details and I may have made a mistake. Buck/Boost is normally avoided unless absolutely necessary for practical reasons so it isn't the 1st thing I would have assumed. In most applications you're better off with two separate converters.
