    I think a more honest title for this video would be "Portland 2017" - no way is this a true representation of Portland 2022. Places haven't closed due to COVID, they're closed due to violence, crime, drugs. If somebody needs a free place to live, bring a tent - people are camping out all over the streets of Portland. Such a shame, it used to be a beautiful place to live.

      Yes it has changed although, any city that gets growth quickly will experience what we are dealing with, we aren’t use to what other large cities deal with and everyone is upset about it. On top of that like expressed the city isn’t dealing with it in the best fashion or at all. This is of course from my point of view, everyone has there own thoughts and opinions.

    I’m still so glad I put that place in my rear view forever. Hopefully they will get the the big one soon. That town needs a enigma.

      Portland is a major dump compared to SD. I’ve know people to last a year living there.

      be sure to do a lot of research before making a move to Portland. Businesses are closing down and people are leaving, the city has let it get completely over run w/violence and drugs.

    My son lives in SE Portland, he has had his catalytic converter sawed out of his car twice in the last two years. Luckily, my daughter and her husband moved to Sauvie Island, a few years ago. It is a true respite from Portland's problems. When my wife and I visit, we always stay with our daughter. We used to love to visit Portland to shop, eat and explore. I even bought paving bricks for each of our children in Pioneer Courthouse Square. We do not go downtown anymore. I don't want to help finance those businesses who allow all the mayhem. I have seen videos of all the businesses boarded up in downtown Portland. I laugh at people who depend on their bikes for transportation when I see them riding in the rain, which is prevalent in Oregon west of the Cascades. Thankfully, public transportation is cheap and good. You championed the lack of sales tax, but you did not say anything about Oregon's income tax rate. I know why Washington residents who live close to the Columbia River shop at Oregon's Costco stores. I have been to the Costco that is just east of PDX and it is usually full of cars/trucks with Washington plates. I-205 is very convenient for them. I know that the price of a kilowatt hour is fairly cheap though because of all the dams on the Columbia River. Then you totally skipped the problem with crime and those "mostly peaceful" BLM/Antifa mobs that like to wreak havoc in downtown Portland. At least the mobs haven't taken over downtown Portland and proclaimed it to be an "Autonomous Zone" where they are the rulers. But, I do remember when the leftist mobs would not let people go to work at some federal offices for a few weeks. Then there is the terrible homeless problem that is a real eyesore because liberal cities pretty much invite these people to come. All of these problems exist because the people of Portland allow them to exist by voting into office leaders who do not want to fix the problems.

      i totally agree with some of what was said yes, we have crime issues in the city and lots of other negetive things but these are ones that came to mind during this video. I will address others so stay tuned. I feel every city has issues though and no one person can address them all in one video.

    What is an affordable apartment in Houston I pay 1400 for a 2 bedroom a good area and food schools ... what can I pay for a decent living and good school district ?

    • @trishadirksinPortland
      @trishadirksinPortland  Před 2 lety +1

      I would say if you live in the suburs you can find appartments in your price range you are currently paying.

      Hey FAM!!!
      I live in Washington County metro area. If you want a decent apartment in a good school zone you're looking into about $1,800-$2200 for a two bedroom condo. What $1,400 will get you here is a a run down shaddy apartment complex with out a washer ir dryer. Look up Tualatin, sherwood, and lake Oswego are if you want good schools. But be prepared THEY ARE NOT IN THE $1,400 price range. Although depending on your career you might find the wage vs cost of living here in Oregon doable.
