@@chrismontreuil2206 Because if your a Drag strip guy with a hole in his pocket.. These mild-mannered cars are monsters on the track .. Think of it... They are Fox -,bodied Mustang based machines ....one... they're dirt cheap , they're lightweight .. Rwd drive ... Parts are abundant and easy to find... Parts are dirt ,dirt cheap you can drop large big block motors ( up to 400 cu )in in them and heavier duty tranny's in them for low cost... This is Ford's Late model dirty little secret... A mild - mannered low radar catching grocery getter turned into a street fighting , Tasmanian devil on wheels that will send the hearts of many running in terror when they see one .. These Fairmonts and Zephyrs have new found street respect on the drag strip community the same that the Nissan 240 SX has for tuners, ricers and drifters.

back in 86 my buddy's bro did.
He had a wicked 350 Chevy he swapped in and bashed the firewall in to clear the hei.
He said it was close to 400hp but everyone had a 400hp 350 in their back pocket then 😂
Another friend had a tired but clean 72 skylark, and that fairmont would leave that skylark behind so bad, I'd say by the time the skylark hit 60-70 that fairmont probably did close to a whole 1/4.
Looking back, it hadda be a low 12/hi 11 sec car.
That stock rear end didn't last 2 weeks 😂

These Sleepers are drag strip terrors and treasure for those who have them and knows how to lfix them up for maximum performance and modify down for the track .They got all the goodies that Mustangs / Capri Fox Bodies have.... they're cheap Daily Driver ( if you can find them in good shape)...parts are abundant and cheap..... they're lightweight and you can dump some serious horse power into them all for street Creed pennies on the dollar.... They're RWD with great torque potential for dumping the clutch at low RPM!!!. Perfect storm for this side of a Honda Civic .... The perfect sleeper /terror / intimidator...
