- A quick overview of how I made the book Dogtooth Valley from start to finish.
Get the zine here: natetreme.com/shop
Feel free to ask questions about any part of the process. I'd like to do more in-depth videos in the future.
I was a little unclear in the video, I did all the illustrations but I did them a while ago, not specifically for this project.

omg you're the guy that made WANDER: A BUSINESS CARD RPG. I used it multiple times for solo sessions!! thank you!
when i saw the thumbnail i thought no way this person isnt a graphic designer, im glad i was right, this looks amazinh!!
This video has been immensely useful. Thank you!
Great video, I fecking love that retro logo in the intro!!
That is so cool. Came together like magic. I really appreciate the walkthrough the process from start to finish.
That's a really nice project and I loved the design. Congrats!
Excellent! Well done Nate.
This rules so much, love getting to see how you pull everything together!
Wonderfully succinct; thank you for sharing!
I've been needing to take a step back and analyze my approach to this and your video helped a lot. Thanks.
Nice video, Nate! Really demystifying the process, even if you do it like a pro. :3
Thanks for sharing how you made the module. That's a really generous thing to do!
for anyone going through the comments who can't afford to send the pages off to professional printers, you can make a zine yourself. all you need is to follow a 1-into-8 page template (you can also do more pages, up to 18) and print your design (b&w is usually cheapest) onto A4 paper. cut and fold and then you have your finished zine!
if you wanted bigger sized paper, you can print two pages on A4 paper, fold each in half, and staple twice at the center seam of the stacked pages.
🙏
Keep the videos coming you are great teacher
Your channel is a hidden gem 💎❣️. This is such a cool book I really want one now
thanks! it's currently available at Spear Witch spearwitch.com/products/dogtooth-valley
Super awesome!
This video just organically popped up in my feed after watching another video on isometric dungeon drawings. And youre my neighbor. And i didnt even follow you on here 😂 the heck
perfect
I also write in layout. Keeps my writing nice and concise.
This is wonderful. Does anyone know if anyone out there is creating system/world-neutral SCI-FI versions of 'dungeons' like this? Thanks.
Nice! What tools are you using for mapmaking? Can you go into that process a bit?
It's all done in procreate on ipad czcams.com/video/v8bqO-ckJ48/video.html
What kind of game or adventure play testing did you do or recommend?
Cool. What layout software are you using? What do you recommend?
I'm using InDesign because I already have it for my dayjob. If I wasn't already immersed in the Adobe ecosystem I would go with Affinity Publisher. It's much cheaper and very similar
Hello. Great video. What program are you using for the layout?
InDesign
Super cool, Nate! What layout software do you use?
I know this is an old comment but I use Adobe InDesign
@@NateTreme lol I appreciate it dude
How did you find your editor? Where did you find your stock art?
I drew all the art, just not specifically for this, so I had a stockpile of doodles to use. My editor is Fiona Geist, a friend I know thru gaming who happens to be an award winning editor. I'm very lucky she agreed to work on this!
How do you do the layout portion?
Ive got the content in docs, but dont know how to get a zine template
I use Adobe InDesign. I'm lucky enough to have access to it through my job. A more affordable layout software is affinity publisher. I've seen some nice layout done in Google docs even
I have so many questions I don't know where to begin.
Are your zines stitched or glued?
Is the game solo friendly?
How long did it take you to make this Zine?
A week or two, which is faster than normal for me
Tunnel goons was perfect for nice people like me.
next time just use canva it's way easier.

I feel like this video really skips over the years of practice needed to acquire the level of artistic skill for what’s happening here. Feels more like a brag than a useful tutorial tbh. Which is fine, flex away, if you got it, flaunt it, etc.
Oh sorry for not figuring out how to put years of training in practice into a single video. I probably should have started recording when I took my first art class.
