- Believe it or not this is where I first moved to when I came to stay for the long haul in Rio de Janeiro. Most people would think a person from a "first world" country would rather live in a more glamorous neighborhood such as Copacabana or Ipanema but the truth is i had very little money back in 2013 to be able to do that. Hope you enjoy seeing where I lived for the better part of a year.

I went many times to Quadra da Grande Rio.
I never went there before.

is it generally a safe neigbourhood being in the north?
Kinda, I had a uber driver tell me that last year it was #1 in amount of thefts in the greater Rio area. It is safer than many places in Rio but still has it's problems.

I was young and naive lol Only leave and come to a decent part of Rio or another part of Brazil. It was always a hard place but has gotten worse if you can believe it.
