    We went searching for more hidden swimming holes in Yosemite National Park. This time, we explored near the Wawona Campground for an awesome spot called The Ledge. This swimming hole gets its name from the long granite ledge that borders the pool. We also found some other beautiful pools above The Ledge and one was so deep it was perfect for some cliff jumping.

    So I guess there's more than one Ledge in Yosemite, the one featured in this video with the pools of water and the other one is the old closed trail that starts somewhere behind Camp Curry and goes to the top of Glacier Point. It's fun to boulder hop in Yosemite, but nowadays I won't do risky things like that. If you take a fall, and survive the fall, you might wind up with broken bones stuck in a very precarious place, hard for SAR to reach while you lay there miserable. This past year I had a friend that was doing similar climbing, then took a thirty foot fall. He broke his tail bone and hip bones on each side. The good thing is he didn't break his back and become paralyzed, but it was a heck of a thing putting his bones back together and lots of therapy to walk again.

    The last pool is my favorite. I was just there. So much more water than last year. There were 3 additional waterfalls this time. I just got back. There are even crazier pools further up those trails

    Great videos. Appreciate you sharing these gems and the detailed commentary on how to get to them. I wondered How high was that jump you took into the pool? Looked around 25-30ft

    where is the starting point for this hike it looks so amazing

  • @beatrisathetrailscout2892

    You went the hard way. Theres a much easier way. Take the trail to where theres a nice waterfall just before the trail goes to the left and begins to climb. You go right over the the creek and once on other side half shimmy up between the slot of two large boulders and then is minor rock scrambling for maybe 50 to 100 yards and you would have been in same place you ended up after crossing at the top of that waterfall. Its one of my fav places in Yosemite!

    • @beatrisathetrailscout2892
      @beatrisathetrailscout2892 Před 5 lety +1

      Also you unintentionally found Honeymooners and Pot#3....also an easier way to get there. 😂

    • @JesseStLouis
      @JesseStLouis  Před 5 lety +3

      Yeah we realized that and took the trail back down when we were done. I was trying to conceal how easy it is to get there.

So beautiful...I 1st discovered it when looking Arrowhead and Pot#3 but had misleading directions...needless to say...I had never been so happy to not find what I set out to! Like you said 'solid backup'. It was 4th of July weekend and had it to ourselves!

    Chilnualna Falls has some nice pools, maybe 6 miles on a trail out of Wawona. Each of them are about swimming pool size. Count the fish clear water. In '73 anyway!

    Nice Vid. What are your thoughts on this? During many visits to state/national parks, many rangers had mentioned, even though you see a pristine pool of water, it doesn’t mean you should swim in it.. I guess, disturbing the ecosystem?

    Were you able to get to the big tub at 6:14 by continuing up the creek from the Ledge, or did you return to the trail first and then hike to it?

      We continued up the creek and did some sketchy climbing but I think there is a trail to access it too
