The 5.0L Ford F-150 have a TSB for Oil Consumption. You need to update (Reprogram) the PCM module to latest calibration and change the oil dipstick to the updated style. Common Problem. Also, if you get a p0012, p0014, p0011, chances are its the VCT Oil Solenoid on those 5.0L trucks not the phaser as there is a SSM out for this as well.
I subscribed so I could support a mechanic who is honest with their customers and fair to them and Matthew Parker fits that bill. Good Luck and safe travels. Love the videos.
The 18-20 F-150s with the 5.0 are notorious for oil consumption. Mine burns around a quart per thousand. Sucks! This guy is going to have to learn to keep an eye on it.
There’s a TSB out for it. Due to high intake manifold vacuum during decel it pulls oil into the combustion chamber. Ford does a pcm update reducing intake vacuum and an updated dipstick with a wider range.
Shame that the old style garages don’t exist anymore. Those guys saved more motors than anything when they checked customers oil when they filled up on gas.
The geniuses at Ford bolted the fuel module directly to the frame, and the rust eats it up. I bet if you drop the spare in the back and remove it, you can see the circuit board. Ask me how I know? 😂 -Previous F150 owner
He would do a live stream with questions and answers he’ll he could charge money for a membership and host a members only live stream or something he’s so intelligent when it comes too vehicles. Keep up the good work !
He could have got a new battery installed without the data being saved and the throttle body went back to its factory idle setting not adjusted to carbon build up around the throttle body so it dies from lack of air when at idle. Just clean the throttle body out real good or wait for the throttle motor to relearn how much gap to give it at idle
I wonder how much he makes as a mobile mechanic. You would think that people would have to pay a premium for the convenience of someone coming to you to fix your car outside instead of taking it a well appointed garage like normal. It seems to me it's always the people looking for the cheapest fix possible who call up the mobile tech though.
I watch u all the time on facebook reels. I finnally had someone help me find your CZcams and full videos , and I am subscribed and following you now , good job with the videos my friend ..
Nissan quest van had timing chain rattling the oil was low causing timing chain rattling the tension is oil feed just added oil no more timing chain rattling
Definitely phasers going out. Been there done that on 05 5.4 I had. They made it lot simpler of a job now to. I just rember being told use oem phasers cause after markets were not holding up.
Random unrelated story: My work place has these work vans that like to die randomly at stops. Long story short, the + terminals like to accumulate dust, so the terminals like to literally pop off.
You never know. He's in an apartment. A lot of apartments don't allow you to do maintenance on their property. Also being in an apartment, he's clearly keeping a lot in the truck. Keeping a pan could just be another thing that jsut isn't worth it.
Some places are. In my city i can do a a synthetic oil change for 45 even at my auto shop vs spending 48-50 dollars to buy the same stuff at the store. It most certainly can be cheaper.
Bro ive had two or three vehicles at my shop in the last 6 months because they were low on oil! Same issues i tell my customers change every 3000 miles and check once a week!
Or Jiffy Lube hiring people who have no business changing oil. There are videos on here about those places draining the oil and then NOT refilling it back with oil. You paid them to change the oil, not just to drain the oil.
Matt asks for oil, customer gives him coolant 😂. Customer never checks his oil 😮
😆😆😆😆
I know, wild .
Clearly he asked to top up the coolant too
Guy has a 10mil on his keychain but not enough sense to check his engine oil? Da faq?
😂😂
I can't believe this. You were called out to put oil in a car

The owner neglects basic maintenance like regular oil changes, so you can't just blame the vehicle. Did you notice how black the oil was?
Perhaps but oil colour does not tell you much beyond its not 1 week old oil
You should be an airplane mechanic with the pride and care you take I. Your work

Threw buddy a gem!
I was just gonna say I don’t ever see you working on Fords who in the right mind doesn’t check their oil😅
Shame that the old style garages don’t exist anymore. Those guys saved more motors than anything when they checked customers oil when they filled up on gas.
I remember those days
I worked at a gas station in 1978-79. I would check their oil and wash the windshield. Gas was about 70 cents per gallon. I miss those days.
I have been subbed for awhile with bell rang! The shorts are what keeps bringing me here, keep up great work!!

Planned obsolescence
What year did you have?

Happened to me on my Camry .

The price is cheaper because he doesn’t have the overhead of owning a shop and paying employees

“Here’s the deal..so yeah”
When ever you think a oil change is expensive just remember engine work cost 10xs more and ur out of a vehicle while its being fixed.
Nissan quest van had timing chain rattling the oil was low causing timing chain rattling the tension is oil feed just added oil no more timing chain rattling
Dude doesn’t even know what oil is or how to maintain it 🤦🏼♂️
But he's always got a 10mm on him, he's good.
@@alleycatjack4562lol
@@alleycatjack4562 😂 yea 10 mm he will never use
This was one peculiar guy, indeed.
Everyday learn something new tks matt!
That 10mm keychain tho, definitely getting one
It's always the 10mm I swear lol
@mathew Parker what scan tool is that and where did u get it from ??
Here before you blow up, awesome content
Send him to get some oil now. Wasted conversation . Change oil at 3-5000 miles no excuses
bro said since last year😭
Definitely phasers going out. Been there done that on 05 5.4 I had. They made it lot simpler of a job now to. I just rember being told use oem phasers cause after markets were not holding up.
oem ones are apparently not holding up either.
Just had an o2 sensor replaced in my 04 GMC Envoy that was doing the exact same thing.
Eric Obrocha from South main autos diagnosed a similar problem in a Toyota,he just added oil to fix the problem !

"Launch just sent me this scanner"... Proceeds to not mention the model name or put it in the description.
Two quarts low? You have problems.
FORD. Found on road dead
🤣
Hey man I’m new to your channel and love the content brother what type of scanner is that , I’m interested in buying one , thanks
Man card revoked. Calls mechanic without even knowing hes 4 quarts low on oil. Next he'll be badmouthing Ford
Number 1 reason for phaser failure is bad oil / level
Good ole cam phasers
What sort of person never checks his oil.
Poor truck had no oil oh no 🥺 poor baby
Could it also be a bad ecm/pcm with all of the other electrical faults coming up?
Dude has enough sockets and tools, why doesn't he just change his oil? I guess some people just get set in their ways.
You never know. He's in an apartment. A lot of apartments don't allow you to do maintenance on their property.
Also being in an apartment, he's clearly keeping a lot in the truck. Keeping a pan could just be another thing that jsut isn't worth it.
A lot of people get their oil changed at Valvoline or jiffy lube because it's cheaper than buying a filter and oil and doing it yourself.
@timothypenbut its not cheaper der401
@jseen9568 I live in an apartment and if they see your hood up the office people will come over to you

No check engine light does not necessarily mean there are no Codes Matthew. You can have history codes. You misspoke.
He said typically no light means no codes but he’s going to check. No
Misspeak there.
And you misspoke when you said dark engine oil means bad oil
Jesus why did u add so much coolant to it. Was it empty on the overflow?
I would have guessed fuel pump. But clearly I don't know anything lol
A CPS will do the same thing
You should do live streams
Wow look at that classic antique scion xb. They don’t make them like that anymore.
Matthew is that the CRP 129x scanner?
Looks like it doesn’t it? The 123 looks similar too.
Ok here's the deal!!! Why is a truck that low on oil if he got it done at a Jiffy Lube??? The engine is either burning oil or leaking it.
Or Jiffy Lube hiring people who have no business changing oil. There are videos on here about those places draining the oil and then NOT refilling it back with oil. You paid them to change the oil, not just to drain the oil.
Ummm a leak?
The 18-20 F-150 5.0 are notorious for oil consumption. Mine burns around a quart per thousand. Sucks
How much is that scanner?
Where are you located
Hey Matt I’ve been told that the oil dip stick from the Tip to the high represents around 1 quart of oil is that true? So he was a quart low?
Part 2
This looks like a 5.0 not a 3v
Play stupid games win stupid prizes smh
First? Whoa
Some guys are brainless
It's true ,They are found on road dead!
140k miles and dude running without oil smh
What is dead. Running strong with 140000 and little oil in it
Except its not dead. Which makes you a literal idiot 😂
Fucker Only Rolls Downhill
No oil.... traveling mechanic??? Really dude!!
Can anyone give a link to the scanner?
