What's up there at Mauna Kea that they're fighting for? Is there a temple or graveyards up there? What's there? And did Hawaiians go up there before this protest? Friends and family I have on the Big Island said as far as they know, nobody ever went up there or cared about that place until it got in the news. And I really do want to know what's the deal with the place, so those replying can save your racism for someone else because every time I ask a question, all you people do is insult me with racism. But I am used to it, considering I went to Kawananakoa and Roosevelt and heard it from them constantly anyway.
What a disrespectful and disgusting comment. Maybe you should do more research before asking your questions. Please stop copying and pasting this on every video that has to deal with Maunakea. You know absolutely nothing on the topic. Again, don’t need a temple for something to be sacred. SMH 🤦♂️
@@ghoulxx4663 thanks for that comment. I want to know what's going on and not what propaganda I'm reading from activists with victim mentalities. So I'm assuming you guys go up there a lot then, and I also ask because I've never heard of anyone caring about that mountain until now. But I appreciate your non-answer.
Let me try to explain the best I can. The ones on the front line of this whole thing- aunty Pua, lanakila, kahookahi, etc... have been deemed the kia'i or protectors of the mountain. Not only are they the kumu of hawaiian history and 'olelo they have been doing cultural practices on the mauna for generations. The elders who were arrested on the mountain are also the kia'i and their publicized arrests gained media attention quickly. With the attention of the public, aunty Pua and the other kia'i humbly requested that we join them on the mauna. Some people joined because the kia'i are highly revered in the community, others because they are also tired of the decades of disrespect and mismanagement on these sacred lands, others to provide strength amd safety in numbers, and others like me who just want to be a part of something bigger than themselves, a reason to be proud of their heritage. Of all those who joined them in protest, they became part of the lahui.
My braddah, while get one measure of gain there also accumulates a measure of loss, and to Aloha Aina the loss outweighs the gain by so much more. The scope will be built, may not be in Hawaii... I no more that answer but one thing is certain. The Kingdom of Hawaii not going stand for continued desecration of it's lands, of it's people, and the culture. Been up and down the mauna my whole life, I'm 36. Your so called friends and family on Big Island is full of it if that's what they told you.
Nice video but build the scope. Hawaii stands to gain so much from this and TMT is working with the Hawaiian culture.
Build the scope!

Only gains will be made by those who invested in the telescope and those who sold out for crumbs
