    If the world needs anything right now it’s a “take care of you” channel! Thank you for your content. 🥰

    As a watcher of CZcams videos, I never watch TBRs. I'm busy too. I don't have time for anyone to tell me what they're going to read, then what they read, then what they're going to read next month, then their most anticipated, etc Multiple videos about the same books. I love watching what you've read, why you loved it (or didn't) and what you're up to. I love watching you being yourself, not doing what everyone else is doing. :) Do what makes YOU happy. That's the best content. Take care of yourself! As an old fart, I've been a mood reader/watcher for years. Never regretted it.

      That’s exactly the kind of advice and reassurance I need this year! It’s all about enjoying my hobby.

    Mood reading is very natural for me, I rarely have TBRs :- ) This year my loose TBR is reading all the books I already own.

    I love the "take care of ourselves" channel motto/vibe, it definitely comes across!
    I keep saying yes to book clubs and buddy reads, which are all super fun but have definitely made mood reading harder. And also made it so that I forget how to mood read when I have a month without plans like this one. 😂 But I'm trying to find a better balance between the two and leave myself room to still randomly pick things up on a whim.

      I understand all the saying yes to things, and I'm not good at exercising no's. I recently signed up for an ARC that I really should have passed on, but I get the buzz when people talk about things and I want to be a part of it! This is a big exercise in self-care that I'm still working on!

    I hope mood reading leads you to a great reading year! It seems to be the right choice for you. I've never been able to stick to monthly TBR's, I'm a mood reader through and through. What helps me when I look at my shelves and don't know what to read is having general TBR lists, such as feminist literature I want to get to, fantasy books with dragons, classic mysteries, etc. Basically, lists with books that could fit my different reading moods hahahah

    • @WhatCassRead
      @WhatCassRead  Před rokem

      I know, when I was making TBRs I hardly stuck to them 🤦🏻‍♀️

  • @moniques.journal.corner

    Yep mood reader over here! I keep a TBR just so I don't forget the books I've seen and don't want to forget about. I might pick one from the list or just read a new one I heard of. I do like to keep track and journal about them, but just enjoying it is more fun. Do you 😊😊🙏

    • @WhatCassRead
      @WhatCassRead  Před rokem +1

      Lol, yes! I haven’t been able to get rid of keeping a list of unread books. I am just keeping that for inspo right now!

  • @bookwormdreams5182

    🙏 I like making TBRs and I do them knowing that I don't have to follow them. If I'm not in the mood for the books I picked for that month then I read other things. That's how I managed to read a lot of romance in the last couple of years. Most of them are sci-fi or fantasy. If I'm feeling slumpy or not enjoying what I'm reading then I reach for books I know I'll have fun with.

    • @WhatCassRead
      @WhatCassRead  Před rokem +1

      My brain was trying to follow too many TBR rules! I should have adopted your mindset earlier and just know if I don’t follow them it’s all good.

    Can well relate to mood reading as it's something that I've realized is what I really enjoy. There are some books that I do try to get to each month for book clubs but mostly I read what I'm in the mood for which can often make setting TBRs for readathons very.... interesting. I now call what I'm hoping to get to in the month a pile of possibilities that way I don't feel myself going into a slump by trying to have a set TBR. I hope you have lots of fun mood reading and congrats on reading 62 books!

    • @WhatCassRead
      @WhatCassRead  Před rokem +1

      Yes, I have to make sure I can get the First Law Along in there (but I've been loving that series so it's not a chore), but everything else I have the freedom to move around. I tried participating in the Realmathon, but that didn't work very well since I didn't read anything toward the team.

    • @MegBookishRamblings
      @MegBookishRamblings Před rokem

      @@WhatCassRead I had hoped to have read the first two books in the First Law series by now but just wasn't able to squeeze them in for the last couple of months though am looking forward to reading them! It can be a struggle to participate in readathons especially when themes are involved. My favorite readathons are usually the ones that don't have many prompts or that I can still participate and not have to use prompts.

    Mood reader here 🙏 I'm currently at 160 books so far this year, but only read 22 last month. So the mood to read also ebbs and flows by month and I have to give myself grace. I can't do a tbr, I just have a huge list sorted loosely by genre and major tropes and pick what seems good at the time. If I don't connect I move on - life's too short

    • @WhatCassRead

    thank you for sharing your thought process as you made the "no TBR" decision. Do you ever walk into a book store and find that books seem to "call" out as you pass by? Maybe it is the cover design or the title. Even at home, books often "wave" at me from my shelves - "please read me"! Mood reading definitely allows spontaneity and that can be the joy of books in our lives!

    • @WhatCassRead
      @WhatCassRead  Před rokem

      Oh I can definitely pick out books that call to me! That’s one of my favorite ways to shop for books! ❤

  • @VixxiePlans

    I deeply admire people who set out a TBR and can systematically go down the list reading everything on it. I realised it's something I cannot do because I read according to my moods and if I'm in a downward spiral, there are only specific books I can read, if I can actually read at all. It blows, not gonna lie. But I also struggle a LOT reading books outside the romance genre I think because it soothes my soul, it makes my brain happy and for the most part, they're not super intense on my nervous system. I'm here for the "take care of yourself" switch! I need it too. 🤍
