6:05 Alex is right. The restaurants don't necessarily offer the best. The Hawker Centers all over Singapore is where you find the gems.
Yeah, I know it would have been chaos but would have been so much better to have filmed at a Hawker Centre.
@@BrianKerriganPhoto they can't since this was filmed before the race. Can't afford to take any risk with potential food poisoning. Hotel/fancy restaurant food is the safest bet.

yeah i wasn't very impressed with the food in Singapore. Of course i ended up in all the overpriced tourist trap places. Wish i knew the local hidden Gems.

He’s from the other side of the globe. There’s so many food in Asia, it’s not possible for an American to have had tried every Asian dish even if they visit Asia for holiday.
Even if you stay for 10 days that’s just 30 meals out of soooo many options. And! He’s only 23. He’ll have many more years to try more food around the world. Speaking as a Singaporean here.
We do have some Asian food places here you just have look for them. People just like to act like because we’re American, that means we know nothing about anything which is far from the truth. The US is the most diverse country in the world which means there are many different types of food around.
He’s actually better than Lando who would not eat anything fish and even near a fish.🤣

as a singaporean i am seriously impressed with alex's knowledge on local food! i know alex has said a few times that singapore is "sort of a second home race" to him. can anyone enlighten me as to why?
He is half Thai. Since there is no Thai GP, Singapore is close enough. I suppose China is as well, but there hasn't been a race at China since 2019. They keep canceling the Chinese GP for one reason or another.
@@ccramit correct, since Singapore GP is the closest to Thailand, the amount of Thai supporters, or ASEAN supporters in general would make Albon feel at home race easily. the same for Zhou for being Chinese. also, Albon's girlfriend Lily is from China Chengdu, so that makes Albon somewhat attached to the Chinese fans as well.

Besides being the only f1 race in SE Asia, it’s also the only asian race held in a country where almost everyone speaks english

@@peterbel5735the United States is one of the most ethnically diverse countries in the world. We have every type of food restaurants you can imagine especially if you live near any coastal state.
@@Anits1989he’s from Florida. Majority of the cuisines there are either Hispanic food or “American”, aka burgers and steaks. Even though the asian demographic is growing, I doubt he or is family will go out of their way to try it.
Having grown up in Singapore, chicken rice is amongst the best of the best imo. Glad to see that Alex and Logan are appreciative of Singapore's finest cuisine(that coincidentally was created by chefs from Hainan).

Tbh asian foods are usually great when it came from a family restaurants. Big restaurants usually are too mild.

He IS American afterall, his palette is mostly savory greasy rather than sharp flavors. It explains why he enjoys the noodle soup and the Hainanese chicken rice over Laksa, and why he isn't particularly wowed either, cause he's used to the flavors.
he's a white american. some of the biggest picky eaters on the planet and he's a man. one job i worked in college, the old white men always asked for vegetables to be removed when being served. the american diet is pretty shit and hypersavory junk food is the main source of nutrition. they absolutely won't try anything that's "gross" (healthy, exotic, etc) and take pride in being a picky eater as an adult.
third world food slaps. america sucks. it's a third world country in a gucci belt and you have to pay 3x for healthy, nontoxic, organic food bc the food is sprayed in pesticides and has additives.@@jameshoffa7085

I was in Thailand for 3 weeks this summer and I must say, the street food is so good in comparison to a 'normal' restaurant, I loved it!
Tbh, these dishes taste much better at the neighbourhood hawker centre. Its unnecessarily poshed up. Its like making a posh hot dog. Its just hot dog.
There’s much better laksa and chicken rice which is so mindblowingly good and made by men in wife beaters, shorts and black boots - the uniform of hawker centre chefs.

As a Singaporean, I'm laughing and cringing as I watch them attempting to eat this "local" food. Come on, Alex, you know Asian food. This didn't look like an enjoyable experience. Should've saved their money and gone across the road to, say, Lau Pa Sat (or any foodcourt in any mall, if they require air-con), and had more authentic local food there. 😆 Hope they at least went for Ramly burger afterwards. Lol!

This is just cope. Why do some Asian people say “you have to go to the shittiest, dirtiest places to get the most authentic food” it’s clear Logan doesn’t like it. Even if he goes to a hawker stall he still won’t like it. It is what it is. I’m sure some western food tastes crap to you. People have their preferences.

Congee/jook is definitely comfort food, but mine has a lot more ingredients. I love Hainanese chicken, but I don’t think their version was very good.
They need to dip the you tiao (deep fried fritters) into the congee!

That fluffy bun with pork filling is called pao or pau. At least, that's the name here in Malaysia. It has different fillings, I like the chocolate and kaya fillings more. Red beans are not bad either.

It's a shame Logan came in skeptical, seemed like he already had preconceived notions of the food not being to his liking. Everything was "not bad" instead of it having the possibility of good.
Loved Albon in this though, I appreciate that he seems to always be genuine -- doesn't pretend to know what he doesn't, straight up says something isn't good if he doesn't like it.
