The Long Island iced tea is a very potent cocktail claimed to have been conceived by Robert 'Rosebud' Butt in 1972 as an entry to a contest for new drinks using Triple Sec (Cointreau). Let's learn how to make long island iced tea.
This is my preferred long island iced tea recipe however feel free to increase the ratio to 3/4 oz if you want a boozier Long Island Ice Tea
Long Island Recipe:
1/2 oz White Rum
1/2 oz Vodka
1/2 oz London Dry Gin
1/2 oz Blanco Tequila
1/2 oz Cointreau (Triple Sec)
1/4 oz Simple Syrup
3/4 oz Lemon Juice
Top with Cola

I use .5 as well, I do a texas quite often in Florida, even more deadly. Lol what's funny, is people here argue how to make these. You did it how I do it, but others here say that is a texas because it has tequila. I say a texas has bourbon added. But, people are always arguing about it here.
yea ive always made the texas by swapping the cointreau for bourbon but I do keep the tequila. funny how it changes from place to place

haha, yea they are potent! At least I'm only using 0.5 oz of each :P ...I've seen some recipe use 1.5 oz of each spirit!! that's insane!! LOL
