3 SHERRY Cocktails You Can Make At Home
great video, the only thing is you're measuring by volume not by weigh
My name is midori
So i am finally getting around to this one I used a regular 40% rum. Should the ratio to brown sugar syrup be the same as yours?
I would start with half.. taste and then a bit more until you like it
You know you can leave orange juice out of any cocktail for me. lol.
đ€Ł pretty much! Orange never does anything good for cocktails
Iâve only had this once, sometime before the pandemic. I seriously need to revisit this. đč
Itâs soooo good! Itâs got orange juice đ€Łđ€Šââïž but everything else works so well together than the oj doesnât ruin it
This is definitely a must make!
Itâs definitely up there as my top 3 tiki drinks!
Itâs fantastic. With loads of spices. đ
Top 3 tiki for me!
Hi, can you use frozen cherries?
Absolutely! Just make sure thereâs not too much water.. frozen fruits tend to have more water
Love a rim
This looks so good. I want to try it.
Fabulous cocktail Rob! I'd love to try this gin! Yes on removing the orange - dislike it in cocktails! Peaches are so delicious this time of year! Perfect for a lovely refreshing cocktail!! Terrific video!! Tonight I am sipping on a couple of drams of Laphroaig! I love the smoke!
I used to use a recipe centred around Italicus for a white Negroni you should try. Equal parts Gin (of choice, Star of Bombay works well, anything citrusy even a Tanqueray Seville if you wanted a bit more fruit) Italicus (sweet replacement for Campari), and then a nice dry vermouth so you kind or switch around the roles of the Campari and the vermouth. Use Lillet or Martini Ambrato reserva. So for example 1oz Star of Bombay 1oz Italicus 1oz Martini Ambrato reserva ... Have a try.
Yes peach season !!!&
Yum Peach! I can't wait to try this
Itâs quite good if you make those adjustments I suggested! Orange juice always makes a drink flat
I'm making a variation of this with a Mezcal base tonight
oooh.. Mezcal base sounds fantastic!
I never tried lillet before (even if i live in France). I'm wondering if it could be possible to replace the white lillet by a white vermouth ? Do you think it would do the trick ? Thanks fo your vids
You can definitely use a white vermouth! Just make sure it's not overly dry. Lillet is quite sweet. Cocchi Americano is often used as a substitute for Lillet
Thanks for your answer rob. I did go to the grocery store Yesterday and buy a white lillet, will try this tonight
Delicious!!
Itâs a great one! I love the flavour of gentian!
@@RobsHomeBar Me too!! đ
Japanese Cocktail is another solid one. My favorite is that, but with 1œ oz calvados, œ pear eau-de-vie.
That does look quite good and simple Rob, Thanks.
Thanks Dave! Do you have a gentian liqueur? Iâll send you one if not
Eres increĂble te admiro mucho... todas tus recetas me inspiran a diario Quiero ser como tu
I definitely want to try a few of these
Awesome information here. Got a few gentian liqueur to try and now I know how Suze tastes. â€
Happy with how it turned out.. although my approx abv is double that of Suze đ€Łđ€Šââïž
Wow I have been trying to make some banana syrup so did it really tastes like banana. đ€đ
Oh yea that banana syrup is amazing!
@@RobsHomeBar because I wanted to make banana milkshakes. And I want it real banana flavor to come through. Not that artificial flavor a banana. Thank you.
Wow Rob! These are awesome cocktails! One question is about the Amaro black, can one get that particular spirit on line? Where I live, we can't really get that kind of stuff
I have a new case of the Lagavulin 16 - constant fave - and the Offerman 11 4th edition! I also picked up a 3rd Offerman - extra charred! Love the 12 - but not the Tequila finish! I adore the Offerman 11 Rum casking!! Second case bought!! Cheers Rob! No Offerman 11 4th Edition locally? Very easy to find in Vancouver!! I have had so many peated scotch whiskies but the Lagavulin 16 always remains a huge fave!!
Hard to beat the 16!! I do really enjoy the 12! Still looking for the Offerman rum cask
I make all kinds of Margaritas! On the rocks, and frozen. Some of them is fruit, and some is pop. I'am really digging the Citrus Drop, Strawberry, Cherry, Lime, Orange best, My last one i made is? Cantaloupe, IT NOT BAD AT ALL. If you don't have the salt? SO BE IT. THERE STILL EXCELLENT đđ Next one is? TOMATO MARGARITA
I love explorations like this
The sous vide process has made liqueur making and experimenting a lot easier since I donât have to wait 2 weeks for infusions!
What proof are you using?
Brandy was 40%, rum was 67% âŠ. Which means total pure alcohol is 214ml and total volume is 500ml so final ABV of liqueur is around 42% (within a margin of error of course đ)
Suze is only 20% so o overshot a bit haha đ
@@RobsHomeBar Cheers mate, I'll try with some 80 proof vodka for a first batch then :)
Fabulous recipe Rob!! Very exciting!! đ
Thanks!
@@RobsHomeBar YW!!
I donât need any at the moment but when I do need some, Iâll give this a try. Probably used some Everclear.
Youâll definitely wanna dilute that everclear! đ thatâll make a potent brew!
@@RobsHomeBar when I use Everclear, I basically make a concentrate first then bring down the ABV with water and syrup. I just love quickly and effectively Everclear extracts.
@@CoachVinoLLCcanât get bottles here :( closest I can get is a high proof vodka but it ainât cheap
Great recipe! The LCBO doesn't carry this; I get to Quebec fairly often, and the SAQ carries it but it's always out of stock.
I got my one and only bottle of Suze from SAQ, Iâm close enough to Gatineau to be able to go but as you mentioned, itâs not often in stock!
Yeah SAQ is always out of stock
What is the shelf life
Made this 2 years ago and the liqueurs are still good! No mold or anything nasty⊠slight loss of color and flavor but thatâs it! âŠI would say easily 1 year without any degradation
This must have been heaven for you
Indeed it was! Haha a great tasting experience, just gotta hunt down that rum cask lagavulin!
One technique I employ when making liqueurs is using the spinzall starter kit to completely clarify my liqueur. The shelf life is really holding up.
I would love to get a centrifuge! But theyâre pretty pricey!
Do you mean you use a centrifuge? Or you just treat it with the starter kit (pectinaze) to clarify it?
@@RobsHomeBar you can just treat it with the Pectin ex, keisosol, and chitosan. Add each solution in 2mm increments wait 15 mins for everything to drop and filter off everything this is of course before I add the sugar syrup which is also clarified.Should be relatively clear. I used this method for Rhubard, strawberry, coconut and pandan, and now Fassionola.
Imo the USP of a distilled alcohol product is that you can trap flavours in the aging process that are difficult to otherwise replicate. I'd argue many cocktails are objectively better without the alcohol in it (after all cocktails came to be to stomach terrible alcohol). However there are few substitutes for alcohol to preserve beverages for a long time.
The peel holds 75% of the banana flavor so I imagine if you processed those you could get what happens when baking.
Wonderful cocktails, great video - you're a good host. Shake up the music, turn it WAY down, or get rid of it.
Science!
Hey Rob great experiment! These results actually surprised me. With copper being a heat conductor and glass being a heat insulator, I thought the glass would hold the heat in better. This did not seem to be the case. One interesting thing I noticed is that the copper mug sweated so much more. I could tell this by the larger pool of water at its base when it was picked up. This slightly confirms my hypothesis of the copper mug losing more heat. I think you missed one big thing in this experiment and that is that these containers were sitting on the counter. How often do you make a drink and leave it on the counter without picking it up or holding it? I imagine your hand would sap much more of the heat from the cocktail as you held it. Now, do I think it really matters either way? Absolutely not. Both will do fine. Just wanted to bring up this hypothesis from my observations. Thanks for the video and all the others!
It would be nice to do the same experiment in a hot outdoor environment like a beach, i believe that the metal mug gets more affected by the environment than the glass and you said that your room is cold. After that you can say that the mug is the champions #teamglass đ
That would be an interesting variable! Maybe Iâll try that for another video.. Iâll have to wait for a very hot day!
Interesting. If you repeat it, try to measure the volume so you know how much dilution have been added to each.
I could try that! I think I would tough for get an accurate measurement though :S
Ok, Iâm still not convinced. What if you started with both cups equally pre-chilled from the freezer, then repeated the experiment?
I could try that.. but my feeling is the Copper mug would still end up on top.. since metal will chill fast and longer than glass
@@RobsHomeBarlove the discussion on this! However, biggest issue in this case is the thermal mass of each cup. Glass mug has much larger thermal mass, and will take much more effort to cool down, with therefore increased ice melt. If you completely freeze both cups first, glass with the larger thermal mass will stay cold longer. Metal has higher thermal conductivity than glass so will dissipate temp more quickly which is why copper mug feels colder. Additionally, anytime ice is present and melting and temp reaches steady state, the temp will remain constant as long as ice is present. The reason temp increased when ice still present in this experiment is due to lack of mixing and thermometer placement. Probably more than you bargained for, haha! Love the videos!
Temp aside; I would argue that a part of the mule experience is the copper mug, the aroma from the copper contributes part of the flavor experience. a lot of people (myself included) could do without the excessive condensation and how cold the glass gets. but I could see an argument for that being a part of it as well. I feel if I were to reinvent the mule without the mug i would start by looking into putting some liquid iron in to an atomizer... clarified lime, mint infused vodka, ginger syrup, seltzer. .. nick and Nora glass perhaps?
That would be an interesting take on the mule I agree that the copper mug is just part of the experience! Just like how a garnish plays a crucial role in the drink, so does the glassware! Cheers!
Great video Rob! Very interesting data. I'm just happy you used vodka and not rum for this experiment! đ
While setting up, I instinctively grabbed a bottle of bourbon.. then was like âno, Iâm not wasting thatâ đ€Ł
What's the name of your ice cube mold that you make your ice with?
Itâs not a mold, itâs an undercounter clear ice machine from True Residential
Bro thank you for getting straight to the point and providing great content at the same time đđ»
Thanks! I appreciate the comment! Cheers!
