Snare Drum Restoration Glitter - Painting Drums - Yamaha Stage Custom Advantage
Vložit
- čas přidán 25. 06. 2024
- This video presents the process of renovating my Yamaha Stage Custom Advantage snare drum, namely the replacement of the varnish coat using glitter. The glitter used has a grain size of 0.4 mm and is the color "silver hologram". The whole process was completely amateurish and it was my first project of this kind, except for the rest of the set, which was made first in purple.

ECCELLENTE, BRAVO.
An absolute piece of art. I can not even begin to imagine how many hours went into that. To have a finish done like that would have to cost "stupid money" but it sure would look sweet... Wow!!!
Congrats Marek, excellent job. It looks fantastic. I love your dedication. Keep it up!

Thx.
Looks amazing!!! Awesome Job man and I love the background music!!!!
Wow. Very nice work Marek! I have had many Yamaha Stage Custom kits over the years but never one was this beautiful! I am going to try and redo a vintage Ludwig kit, the lacquer has some scratches all the way down to the stain, so I may have to re-stain the drums. This video is very helpful!
Amazing! You have talent... and a beautiful kit. ;)
Muito bom !! Caprichoso ...👏👏👏
Espectacular!!! 👏👏👏 Saludos desde Argentina 🇦🇷🇦🇷🙆🏻♂️

Exelente trabajo!!
At first I was like “Another product! Overkill man.” Until it was done and “Damn!” Is what I said when he was done. Great job.
Excellent work, congratulations. You also restored the purple Yamaha Stage Custom, if so, would you have the video?
Very cool thank you! Great work!
Thanks.
you kill man, fantastic job!
Really enjoyed this video. You did a great job! I would like to repaint my ‘90 Ludwig Super Classic kit which currently has a white lacquer finish that has yellowed over the years. Just wondering if it is necessary to take all the finish off down to the wood. Or can you just rough it up so the the primer coat will adhere and go from there? I want to do a black heavy sparkle or glitter finish to the point where it almost looks dark grey.
Always thought about buying one of these great sounding used kits with solid hardware for cheap $$, then throwing a vintage design wrap over it
I've put my heart into it and it giving it back, sounding really beautiful.
Naprawde super!!!
Nice Work.
No pięknie panie to zrobiłeś. Gratulacje
Killer job man
Thank you
That looks like alot of work and money 💰

What were your sandpaper grits on the Initial and Final sanding?
Beautiful skilled craftsmanship. Each drumpiece is unique. A true work of art. Clearly illustrated and very informative.
I also liked the music in the background, which I'd rather call the soundtrack instead. Thanks!
Thank you! Music isc also mine😉
amazing
Just even looking at the guys workshop, you know some quality work's gunna happen......
Thanks for the video. This is a 21 minute video, however, I'd like to know how long did it actually take to complete this project as well as, what grade sandpaper was used in the different stages of the process, I saw that for previous finish removal you used a 80 grit and then some 300ish grade for edges, however, no information on the table sandpaper or the finish sanding with water. I myself, would like to do this project and this information would certainly be very useful. Thanks in advance and keep up the great work.
Good job, I have the same yamaha and I'm going to do the same job but two colors will degrade on semi-transparent wood
Yeah go for it!
Looks brand new.... wow....
Great job!!! Nice there is no seam like there is with wrap.
Nice job! How durable is this finish? Chip easily?
THX. No it's durable like factory made...
Nice work . Lot of work but worth it
Amazing job! Wow… I want to redo my Premier Signia’s and this video definitely gave me a good reference to redo them this was instead of wrap..Ty!! What grade of sandpaper did you use to remove the old lacquer?
Try yourself and start from higher grid. I would use 150 or lower to remove old lacquer, and then maybe 250 to smooth the surface. If you like to paint them than try to achieve really nice finish. If you go for glitter it doesn't matter that much. I would like to have Signia verry much. They are amazing. Thank you and take care!
Amazing job, what shade is that purple
I'm sorry but I don't remember. Thank you for comment.
Muy bueno! 👌
Szacuneczek, Przyjacielu!
Dziękuje. Tak przysłodziłeś że się rozpływam:)
Hola 👋 😮
Better than new! It's looks really amazing! Congrats man!
A barbeque spit motor could have kept the shell turning for painting and drying.
The factory's keep them spinning slowly during painting and drying, no runs no drips.
Looks amazing Marek! Greetings from Wales, UK 🙂
I'd love you to renovate a kit for me in the future, in the purple sparkle- It looks fantastic!
Have just subscribed too. Thanks, Nick
Thank you! I live in Poland so it's a bit of distance 😉, but nothing is inposible 😎. Take care Nick.
@@MaruniaMusic You never know Marek. Hopefully 🙂
If it helps, there's a place in Wales called Cariad Drums, the owner (Leigh) did a TAMA Starclassic EFX 14" Floor Tom for me which was originally wrapped, he removed the wrap, painted & lacquered it to match my the rest of my kit (red to black sparkle fade), and it looks absolutely incredible, I think it was about £130.
Is the hardware new? I’ve looked everywhere and cannot find Yamaha high tension lugs!
No it was well preserved kit
LOVE THIS! Mind blown...
i'm doing the same GLITTER FINISH for massive wood shells that i made. i'm still feelling with my hand the glitter under 2 coats of varnish. How many did applyed ?
I don't remember but many. I think it was about 20. Better more thin coats than few thick.
Better than from the shop!
Thank you 💪
I mean if you look at a documentary on the way they make the drums cutting that lip to the correct angle is one of the most important part of the process I'm not trying to put your work your a pro at what you do on time I started messing around with the lip by sanding it I never got that drum to sound right after
It's called a "bearing edge".....and yes it's critical to a drums sound. You simply need a table router to cut the bearing edge. There's an inner, and outer edge. There's lots of info about the different types of bearing edges you can cut, just google it, or search here on YT.
Nice job! What is the type of glue you used to attach the glitter? It looks like wood glue but I suppose it is something else? I want to sparkle paint a drumset like you did so this information would be very usefull.
Yes its something like wood glue. I think you can use it instedad.
@@MaruniaMusic Great, I'm going to try that. Thanks mate!
Super to wygląda 💪 możesz powiedzieć ile brokatu potrzeba na zrobienie takiego werbla ?
Hej. Pozdrawiam.
@@MaruniaMusic dziękuję za odpowiedź :) pozdrawiam
