Both at Wilt's prime facing Shaq at his prime then , or facing him at both their primes in the 90's, I'm assuming they train to their physical and footwork/court awareness limits. Those limits would be different in different eras, but if Shaq had been in his usual mediocre shape, save that one year mentioned by Pat Reily, Wilt would have run him off the floor. With all else being equal, peak to peak, Wilt would have the physical edge, but Shaq would work till he dropped against that challenge.
Wilt was also super dense muscle fibers so he was as strong as a much stockier man than what he appeared. The stories of him easily lifting hundreds of pounds with one hand

i think people tend to exaggerated things...especially on the era where foottage got weird framerate and black and white color... he might dominate that time but today he will struggle, so is bill russell. Wilt will be neutralize by the 3pt game nowadays, he might have way less rebound today and probably struggle on shooting as well, same with all big guy problem. One thing this video fails to mention is one of Shaq’s strongest value brought to a team. Sure they mention pts rebounds and blocks but add an incorrect throwaway line about Dwade being the main reason they won. Watch that series again or any of the Lakers.
Shaq gets the ball and immediately three people on the opposing team swarm him. He then passes it to a teammate who either scores or passes it to the other side of the court to a wide open uncontested player for the score. Dwade a second year player dominated BECAUSE Shaq brought all the defensive heat and led to wide open uncontested shots from his teammates.
This was also in the East, during years where like 32 wins got a team in the POs.
People who didnt watch these years tend to rely on stats and they ignore how impactful Shaq was even if his scoring went down to 20ppg. They also tend to not understand that this decline was merely a stat decline due to minutes, not a decline in capabilities or skill. The year the Heat won the title, Shaq was playing nearly 8MPG less than his last finals appearance with the Lakers. And this is because of another thing people ignore, we saw possibly the single most dominant and impressive center 1st/2nd string combo in NBA history with Shaq and Zo.
That said, we also cannot ignore or forget that under oath, multiple refs (with Tim Dognaughty sp? being the biggest whistle blower) did testify to the NBA instructing them to extend that series, which one could very easily argue lead to the Mavericks losing. I cannot remember if Tim said that this was also one of the series that he reffed game's that he helped rig his mob connections.

Shaq was amazing up until his Suns tenure. Shaq diesel is still a sight to behold with. Shaq-fu was quick, powerful, and very entertaining and still has one of the best signature sneakers of all time for me.

I still watch Blue Chips a few times a year. It's a great & mostly forgotten/underrated movie. Having first seen it with my Dad, when I was only 5, Shaq & Penny Hardaway instantly became my favorite players and started following basketball. By 1996, however, a man by the name of Kobe Bryant came onto the scene, which made me into a Laker fan for life. And just so happened Shaq went to the Lakers the same year. Ah the memories......

I've never liked Shaq or the Lakers, rooted for the 76ers in that finals but I simply have to admit that Shaq was the most dominant center I've seen playing ball. I was hoping that Divac or Mutombo could stop him but even these great centers could not hold him back.

I saw Shaq at a game in Boston in 2002 and even though he was injured and in street clothes, he towered over everybody else in the arena. You had to have seen him in the flesh to truly appreciate how gargantuan a human he really was.
Shaq was there for everyone. We all grew up with Shaq and I honestly love the Man. He's such a great influence on everyone in the 90s; who helped many people. Such a sweetheart who was friendly and funny. The Shaq shoes were such a great idea also. He is truly one of the best nba player who became even bigger because his personallity was just true.

I'd say he's more dominant than Wilt. This isn't Wilt's fault but he played in a league with only like 8-10 teams, and during his historical scoring seasons, he would average close to 40 shots a game. If you gave Shaq those number of shots, he would've also had historical scoring seasons as well.

I saw the Lakers play the Supersonics, late 90's 1st round of the Playoffs at Key Arena. We sat about 15 rows back from the Laker's Bench and it felt like we could reach out and touch them. When Shaq stood up and was surrounded by other players, it was like a Full-Grown man surrounded by super Tall and Skinny Jr. High School Boys and didn't even look like it was a fair "fight". And I almost felt sorry for the Sonics.....almost. Shaq's a Top 10 All-Time NBA Player in my humble opinion.

Even on the Celtics on his last legs they benefitted from his big presence on the boards and protecting the basket down low! He was a dominant force with great strength, size, athleticism, and skill. I’ve been an NBA fan since ‘94, that was my first year to watch and the Magic were my first favorite team. Even though I live in Houston, I rooted for the Magic the first finals I ever watched,

Shaq is one of my favorite players because I feel a personal connection to his personality.

In terms of Greatness (accomplishments):
1. Kareem- 6 MVPs, 6 Championships, and had the greatest offensive weapon- The Skyhook
2. Wilt- Most athletic physical specimen and most-dominant individually
3. Bill Russell- Arguably the greatest team player of all-time and the winningest with 11 Championships
4. Hakeem- Most-skilled overall of all centers; best two-way center of all time
5. Shaq- most physically-imposing center (Wilt may have been more imposing, but many claim Wilt's game was more finesse}, the epitome of brute force
Wilt was at least as physically imposing in his time, probably more so, but he was not the physical specimen Shaq was 30+ years later. Wilt played in a different era. Hard to say with more modern training available that he wouldn't have been even bigger and stronger than he was. He's probably the only one on your list that was also more athletic than Orlando Shaq. I totally agree with your list.
Shaq only became physically imposing after he got fat. He wasn't that big when he first came into the league. Hakeem schooled him in the finals in 1995.

I remember being a kid and watching shaq on the Lakers in his prime. If he got the ball in the post he was unstoppable and it would seem like he would always either score or get fouled. He's arguably top 10 all time, and by all accounts was rather lazy with his health and workouts. I wonder how good he could've been with a Jordan or Kobe like hard working mentality. Possibly top 1, we'll never know. But still had a phenomenal career and will be remembered as one of the best ever.

I was big old boy and I couldn't run the two mile to get my PT score up. So my drill Sargeants would call me Shaq Diesel everyday. Trying to motivate me to get by PT run score up . Cuz I ran like a Mack truck. Towards the end of my basic training I was able to pass my 2 mi and complete my basic training. So Shaq- Fu always has a place in my heart. And like him I have a Superman tattoo on my right shoulder. 💯🦸♂️

One of the main problems of Shaq was that there wasnt anyone with similar atributes that put him in check and make him work to be the best.
For example, neither Ronaldo or Messi would be as great as they are if they played in different eras. It was the fact that both of them played in the same era that made both push each other to GOAT status

As good as Shaq got, we never really seen the best Shaq because he let himself get out of shape while he was in his prime in LA. If you watch the magic Shaq, while his skills were unrefined, he had the speed to do things later versions could only dream of. I also think if he weighed 30lbs less, he'd also be carrying much less injuries later in his career.

Shaq did say Wilt was the most dominant player ever, Wilt was quicker and stronger but did not weigh as much because he was leaner (in shape) but this also meant he could play a lot longer and not get tired.
Shaq is a tank and would man-handle Wilt and anyone else simply because of physics and weight. He only said that to be humble lol.

In Shaqs defense, "lazy" and "out of shape" in the NBA doesnt mean what it means to the rest of us. Anyone capable of playing 82 full court basketball games in six months over 19 years while contributing meaningfully to his teams success pretty much throughout is neither out of shape or lazy.
There's also a strong argument to be made that at 7'1 300+ pounds, Shaq was always on a health timer. Human knees, backs, and bones just aren't designed to carry that much weight and handle that kind of sustained punishment. So Shaq took it "easy" didnt go 100% in practice, and he lasted 19 seasons.
It's not unreasonable to say that a hypothetical "Mamba mentality" Shaq probably wouldn't have lasted anywhere near 19 seasons.
Could he have won more rings in less time? Probably. But I doubt he would have made nearly as much money, nor enjoyed his success as much as he did.
In a way, I think Shaq is the embodiment of "work smarter, not harder."
