- NFL Draft week is finally here and Fox Sports’ lead college football analyst Joel Klatt reveals his final Mock Draft ahead of Thursday’s First Round. In this Mock Draft, Klatt predicts two trades in the Top 10 as he believes teams will be moving up to find a franchise QB and an elite Wide Receiver. He discusses the decision that Washington will have to make at #2 as they decide between Drake Maye and Jayden Daniels. Klatt also details which team is the best landing spot for one of the top QB’s to have success early in their career. He lays out how the Chicago Bears could end up with a perfect First Round with their two selections. His Mock predicts 6 Quarterbacks going off the board early as J.J. McCarthy, Michael Penix Jr and Bo Nix find landing spots inside the Top 20 selections.

So Joel Klatt’s reasoning for why the Chargers don’t trade Herbert is… money??? Really? We’re talking about an elite, top 5 QB. You don’t trade that. Regardless of the picks you’d get. QB is the hardest position to solve. The Chargers have not only solved that problem, they passed it with flying colors having a star QB like 10.
If Harbaugh traded Herbert to draft JJ it would be the worst trade in NFL history.

@@scottkalnoske2927 the o-line with an actual O-line coach will be much better, which they haven’t had since 2021. Demario Douglas and Kendrick Bourne are very solid WR2 and 3, Hunter Henry is very dependable. We can get a WR1 in the draft, the defense is elite. This team is not as far as people like to think, they gotta nail the draft though
I watched Klatt play at Cu and he was impressive, probably 2nd best they’ve had behind Cordell. But he has always been a serious student of the game/position.😅 He had a radio show in Denver with Charles Johnson, back up QB for CU’s Nat’l Champ team. They were great, and Joel was the 2’nd smartest guy on the show. Klatt had very little media experience before being recruited by Fox for college games. He is now going to be part of the draft show for the NFL channel, sitting next to Eison, in a position to provide frequent opinions. Way to go Joel. We’ve never met, but I’d really like to say, Hey … I know that guy!

Drake Maye is a huge gamble simply because he comes from a Mack Brown system. Mack has had a long history of having what look like can’t miss early picks that end up being “should have been late first, second or even third round picks”. Never have understood why player analysis seems to ignore the prospects’ college coach’s history with that position.
He is a huge risk, but he played behind the worst team among the top QBs, and also dealt with a change in coordinators. The talent around you matters.
I def look forward to this show now. It’s up there with the first draft pod with Mel and field. So much good info. Keep doin you Joel can’t wait to see ya in the draft

Will all respect, there is ALWAYS that team, and that player there that a team is going to move up for (regarding Denver at 12). That is just how it works man! There will be a team wanting that next best tackle, that next best WR, that guy they fell in love with during the process that happens to still be falling to them, but they do not want to miss out on. There are always teams looking to move up. Its draft frenzy lol

I like your thinking that the Titans are in a good spot to trade down, but I think the Cardinal's MHJ logic applies where the guy that they want is available at #7 in Joe Alt. Plus I think the Jets (with Mike Williams too) are probably feeling similar about about Odunze and Bowers and feel confident they could get one without trading up.
There's little chance that the Bears would pass on Odunze if he's there so I've been saying for awhile that the Jets will take Bowers.

I didn't, but I'm curious about the case for DT. Who is J' Newton going to beat out on the Bills' depth chart and when? Will the Bills spend first round capital for a rotational DT who might start year three? With so many good WRs on the board, this would seem like a stretch.

hey joel! love the show and i have a question. i'm curious about adonai mitchell, i really liked some of his film but i noticed he "gave up" on some plays because he wasn't targeted at times. have you heard about that? and if so, what are your thoughts? do you thinking getting to the nfl would make him be more responsible, especially with a coach like maybe andy reid, seeing as you predicted him to go to the chiefs? thank you!

top 8 looks pretty realistic except the jets moving up. they dont have a lot of picks, its more plausible that theyd move down a couple of spots to get the tackle they like.

The patriots oline being bad is being overstated. They started the season literally with 4 starting linemen out. Then it was like 3 of the 5 out for like 4 more weeks after that. Once they got together. They were definitely okay. They just truly need a LT. But i called it on twitter in march that chukwuma was gonna play LT. Elliot basically said that last week that he would.

This looks like a really good Mock. I love the idea of the Bears getting Caleb Williams, i.e. #1 QB, and Joe Alt, i.e. #1 LT, in the draft. I hope this happens. Looking at PFF rankings, they could take a WR at 75 and then a DT/DE at 122

Here’s my question about Powers to Miami. They signed Brewer and he’s not a Guard he’s a Center. Are you putting Powers at Guard? JC Latham is Drew Rosenhous’s agent. To me that makes sense for many reasons.
Joel Klatt got every single top Qb team correct except for Penix (but nobody saw Atlanta taking that risk at 8). As a Oregon fan I hope I'm wrong but Denver absolutely took Bo Nix way to high, they were probably better off trading up to the top of the 2nd round or bottom of the 1st round and picking him there.
Colts fan. I love the pick @15. Chris Ballard has never traded up in the 1st round however this year could be different with the talent at wideout and oc Brock Bowers but if we stand pat, as a guy who values defense I love QM for our secondary!

Honestly the most logical mock draft I've heard even though I don't love the way it works out for my team.
First off thank you for taking an o-lineman for Pitt, you seem to be the only one addressing their biggest need. Now I think Miami might go Barton from Duke instead since they lost their Guard, and Barton can play any role on the line. Just my thoughts.
For the Chargers, your draft makes good sense. However Bolts don’t have any starting corners at this point, aside from little Samuel at slot. CB is very likely with one of their No.1s, if they do a trade down, which they should do.

I doubt the Seahawks will pass on Fautanu if he is there at 16. Our greatest need is O line. We have no idea of Lucas will be ok from his surgery going forward. He can start at guard and kick out to tackle if either tackle goes down and will also likely kick out to tackle in the future if Lucas walks after his rookie deal is up. The versatility is just too good plus he is Husky. If Schneider passes on Fautanu there will be a huge uproar among the 12s.
Our run defense was dogshit. So getting someone like Byron Murphy I would also be really happy with.

I would LOVE if the Bears took Alt or Fashnau - either way we have to learn from the mistakes of the Colts and Bengals - protect the franchise QB . Can always get more WR later or get defensive players later. O line is paramount
Everything is a gamble...but their O-line is already pretty decent. If Alt is still there, they probably won't be able to pass him up but they won't take any other OT at 9

Worst take I've ever heard for the Chargers pick. Kick the tires on trading Herbert? He's going to trade 5 for 11 and 23 with Vikings because he loves JJ McCarthy? Harbaugh is going to do what's best for his team. Now that may be trading with the Vikings.. but not for JJ's benefit
I think people will be surprised at how fast the Tackles fly off the board
Agreed Alt would be a great add for the Bears. Odunze would have been nice but he‘ll probably be gone. And Bowers that’s awful high for a TE who is built kind of slight and may be prone to injuries. So yeah fine with Alt or if he’s gone trade down and get Fautanu or Fuaga and with that extra pick some nice Edges around that 45 spot Trice, Kneeland or Issac.

A lot of nice ideas. Hopefully a lot of this pans out. Was very pleasantly surprised to see Adonai Mitchell to the Chiefs, and to hear about him transferring to Texas to be closer to his daughter. Great story, great prospect, and Mitchell could (possibly) end up being the best receiver in this draft, especially if he plays with Patrick Mahomes. Hope to see it.

If Minnesota can’t trade up and they’re stuck at 11 and 23 and the top 4 QBs are gone, is it too early to take Penix at 11. I’m concerned about teams in the teens taking him if we go defense at 11 and hoping he’ll be there at 23.

#9 The Jets signed M Williams to play wr2 and Lazard is a Rodgers fav to play wr3, they have 33 year old Morgan Moses at RT. I see no reason why they would pass on Alt with Rodgers coming off a season ending injury
