Same problem for me with T-Mobile Home Internet. I'm near Milwaukee, but my internet is consistently routed through Chicago. Sometimes I even have to use my GPS spoofing app on my phone to get the right channels.
We have the same situation as we also use the 5G Home internet service and have CZcams TV. And it is very random probably about every two to three months, but is a fairly easy fix once you know how too. As always appreciate your channel and shared knowledge. Great stuff!

Thank you! Will try this. I use Starlink Internet which uses Dallas addresses but is 100 miles away. I have spent hours with support and still have the wrong locals. They say to set the home area with the mobile app and the TVs will automatically switch, but it doesn't. I haven't seen my locals for over a year. Will try your method.

Yep I'm on T-Mobile 5G, and this has happened to me a few times as it shows my IP near Atlanta while I'm almost 4 hours east in in SC, and yep the mobile app is how ya fix it, so yeah while annoying at least they have a way to do it using your phones GPS location data, unlike Hulu, and a few others that just end up blocking you, or sticking you with the wrong channels.
Thank you for sharing. Yes, would be cool if Hulu Live would use the GPS location data so there wouldn't be as many issues.
@@MichaelSaves Yeah it was one of the reasons I left Hulu Live, plus I run a senior center for a nonprofit for a living, and Disney not letting me use it at work 5 minutes from my house in the same town/zip code. So far CZcams TV doesn't care, nor does Peacock.
Our challenge occurred due to a “split zip code”. Or so you tube tv explained. After a couple calls we were able to get the local stations closest to us. Not easy, but possible.
This has happened to me at least a dozen times and this fix you outline in the video works.
I don't know why it happens (your theory may be correct) but it happens with me on Xfinity.
I have Xfinity also. After using CZcams tv for a month it would change my playback area. I change it and it would revert back to the wrong area. I’ve tried everything to fix it. Since you can’t get google support I solved the problem by canceling my account

I'm getting tired of stuff requiring a mobile app. In a grocery store and see a discount for an item, only to find out you need a smartphone *AND* have to have a mobile app for the store? All the while, a few items down the aisle are discounted for everyone or have a pull-tag coupon for a discount.
The update current viewing area only changes on iPad and iPhone.. the TV keeps saying it cannot find my device. Yet IP shows TV is connected . I can only see where I am visiting if I use the iPad like a Remote control. Using the CZcams TV remote gives me the error message the channel is not available to me because it is not my home address.
doesn't work. worked with google support and did it on mobile app settings location but then switches right back to washington DC, or still shows washington DC channels even though the home location shows correct Los Angeles location, but when you go to update location again it shows washington DC. I also had google reset the address change from 2 times per year for my account. still does not work.
How long do you have to be back in your home area if your traveling in this case I’m only changing the “current playback area”
So this video isn’t really about traveling. But if you travel a lot, you just need to make sure you’re back in your home area within 3 months. Here are the rules for that: support.google.com/youtubetv/answer/7193651?hl=en

Hi. I just happened to find your channel. Maybe you can address what "local" means on channel lineups? We have a new problem in my area of Central NH and it affects about 20,000 people and everyone is complaining about it. On April 1rst the FCC or someone changed our county from being in the Boston viewing area to the Burlington VT/Plattsburg NY viewing area. The vast majority of people around here are connected in some way to Boston, not way over in N VT or NY. Whether it is streaming or cable the local Boston stations and even our one NH station, WMUR has been dropped. We can no longer get NH weather or news or the locals in Boston. I have been told it is because of an FCC decision or Neilson and advertisers. That makes no sense because no one cares about ads way over in N VT or N NY. There are a few workarounds like trying to fool your location, but it seems like once the streaming services or cable company finds out you live in Grafton County the local stations switch back to VT/NY. Perhaps much of the rural part of our county is closer to VT, but the population center is much closer to Boston and Manchester where our NH affiliate broadcasts from. It's crazy and frustrating for everyone. Can you shed any light on the situation? Maybe other parts of the country has similar problems??
Great video but you forgot one important step. Click on the feedback button and complain to CZcams TV every time it happens. I have Verizon home 5G broadband service and they change my IP address from Illinois to New York to Virginia, Rhode Island, etc at the drop of a hat sometime several times a week. I complained to CZcams TV each time it occurred when I first got CZcams TV last year. While my IP address still changes several times in a week, CZcams continues to show the correct local. I now only have to go in and correct the local channels with my phone approximately once a month. Using IP to set your local market is state of the art 1997 and they should be using other methods to determine your market. As I told CZcams TV last time I checked my 65-in flat panel TV has not moved from my family room since I bought it 5 years ago.

We have done this many times and it will be ok for awhile, but then goes back to showing the wrong local stations and ads for places that are hundreds of miles away from us. Sometimes both the home area and the current playback area are correct, but we still get stations and ads from outside our area. Very frustrating.
Do you use 5G home internet?
I wish you could change channels with CZcams tv with Roku with your voice. It would help my 83 yr old mom tremendously

It does not let me drill down any further than “United States” for my location on either the TV or the app. Very frustrating.

My playback area won't change. My home area is Columbia Area. My playback area is Augusta. I have tried everything to change playback area, and it won't go off Augusta. I live in South Carolina, near Columbia, and You Tube TV thinks I need news and locals from another state. I called, and they won't change it. Any suggestions? I tried doing what you suggested in yout video, and it doesn't work!!

@@MichaelSaves CZcamsTV tells me that my viewing area is Augusta Area, but it is not. My home area and viewing area are listed as different zipcodes. We live almost on the state line of Georgia and South Carolina. We even have a static IP which is listed as Lexington, SC. We got Columbia stations for about 3 months, then it was changed to Augusta. I was told based on my home zip code, Augusta is our viewing area. It is crazy! I think the next time I travel to Columbia, I will try to change my phone to Columbia and see what happens! I don't want news from another state!!

You could ask your ISP for a static IP address to reduce the issue. As for the simple fix, I share it in the video.
