American Staffy Brothers Out of the Shelter | Fostering at the Farm

- The brothers had their first day of real farm life today. Yep they’re sleeping over!
So what happened? Well we heard from Dee and the volunteers that they’d already started having a go at each other and had to be in separate kennels back at the shelter. They’re really lovely boys and really great brothers, but being littermates in the shelter would be hard. Not sure how much people know about littermate syndrome? But it’s a real thing and these guys are just reaching that social maturity stage where they need some training to maintain that happy healthy relationship.
That and of course the fact that Chopper laid down and refused to the leave the farm. That got me.
So here they are. Until they find their forever home.
Everyone has made them very welcome. We’ve got two sets of littermates who can share with the brothers some words of wisdom on how to manage.
Tank and Chopper are about 8 months old now and are up for adoption. Being litter mates they require a special person or family that is dedicated to the type of leadership and training they need to feel happy and safe, they’re only young and need a lot of guidance.

It was well planned by the brothers: 1. We’ll pretend to fight at the kennel 2. Chopper, you will lay down and refuse to leave whilst looking at Aunty Sam. 3. High Five each other when no one is looking.
Tank and Chopper just slipped into the pack as if they'd always belonged. Boot camp at the farm and cuddles will work wonders.
Oh yes, and they already have an application in. Hopefully that works out and they can really benefit from this additional training and socialization. They are such sweeties.
These two were perfect. What an epic day. All they needed was this chance.

How wonderful for Tank and Chopper to be given the opportunity to be FOSTERED at the farm. I just hope that you don’t end up reading lots of comments suggesting you should adopt them too. However well meaning such comments are, if you read enough of them it must have a negative effect on you as you can’t adopt every dog. I am going to love watching them progress and thrive under your care until they depart for their furever home.
@crazycanuck I know what you mean. When so many people say about keeping foster dogs, how right the farm is for them etc it edges into emotional blackmail territory. This big hearted family don't deserve that.

I agree, Natalie. They can't keep them all, though each one earns their own spot in their hearts. I'm sure it's hard enough. I once made a joke about 'Luna will need a tall fence, a pool, where could she find that?' and regret it. They made space for so many dogs that they felt needed to stay with them, dogs who might be higher maintenace, or less well understood.

I love that everything Luke does models good pack behavior. To have 20+ dogs wait patiently for super high value treats with no food aggression is so impressive. The fact that we’ve seen this so many times with ease makes us forget just how amazing this is.
After Roscoe ate his food off the stick and Luke said GOOD BOY his head turned around to the other dogs as if to say, »See! Look at what I did! « So very sweet.
Tank & Chopper are both so well behaved, respectful and sweet. I cannot imagine there isn't an active family who just love to adopt them.
Roscoe took the meat gently and when you said he was a good boy, he turned his head to everyone around and said, "See, I am a good boy". Yes, Roscoe, you are a good boy.
Singled out Barney and Freddo, the two dogs Luke said in an earlier video, that Barney and Freddo have yet to accept Roscoe.

The brothers are looking like they are learning and enjoying their time at the Farm. Some family will be very lucky to have them. Especially after they have been socialized by you. Thank you for fostering them. The best place to learn to be their best selfs. Roscoe is doing so great! What a love. Can’t wait to see the lucky person who adopts him. Thank you for your big hearts, your kindness, and your love of dogs.

I love how Roscoe fits into the family pack so well. It's as though he's been there forever. He is a lovely dog. Tank and Chopper are going to have a terrific time at the farm and, hopefully, will end up BFF's again. Love Freddie - he's an adorable goofball!! Love his semi-permanent two-tone look!
Tank and Chopper will have wonderful time at The Farm learning from the pack. They have a much better chance to find their forever home!

Roscoe is a gentledog, like Freddo. Love this dog. And it's funny to see that dogs play the game of training with Luke. They want to show to uncle Luke that they are really good dogs
Remembering how Freddo, Shadow, and Roscoe were when they first arrived at the farm, I am still amazed at their transformations every time I see them. It’s like they are all two different dogs. I can’t reconcile their before and after in my head, they are so completely different! It must be all of the love and safety and security provided by the Farm family finally lets them achieve their sense of inner peace so that they can let go of their “fight or flight” state of mind and be the good dogs that were inside the whole time, but couldn’t be manifested in whatever deplorable conditions they were subjected to in their past life.
Especially when Freddo who loves his toys is yanking on a frisbee with another dog and eventually he says OK, you can have it. Amazing.

I think I will never again see a scene so perfectly organized and inspired by Luke's love and work for the dogs as the scene where he feeds them together and they each wait their turns.....!!! 100% A+...!!!

Tank and Chopper are good looking boys with the cutest ears, and so well behaved, apart from their little tiff..that happens.
When I saw how Chopper laid down and refused to go back, I thought of Sam immediately, and knew it, and I was so happy they got to stay on the farm instead of the shelter. Made my evening. They fit in really well with the pack too. You guys have the biggest hearts.❤💙

Tank and Chopper look as if they've been there 2 weeks not 24 hours ! The gentle but firm, loving approach has already made a difference. Freddie has had a mud bath, of course. Freddo is the elegant gentleman always. Joey is so good at his obedience, but I notice the excitement of all the dogs on the release command !! Rosco has just grown and grown since having the loving care and training, as has Shadow. Very soon Wolfie will be training the dogs, just like Dad. Thank you for today's visit !!!

I love how even though one of the brothers is being trained on lead, the other brother is doing exactly what Luke wants too! I'm so happy for them I'm crying. I wish I could afford to join and help, but I just can't afford it. They are so special and I love that they are being helped.

One of the reasons I can't support The Farm by joining is because I rescue cats. So I get to feel good about that too! But you know how it is when we love animals, we can't do enough.
@@christinewillard3289 You must have been thrilled when they adopted Kitty Rose. I was a foster fail with my first foster who was a cat. The day I brought her home, I took her upstairs to her temporary room which was to be used until she was tested with the dog (our dog was cat friendly) and when she had her kittens. She walked out of the room, went downstairs, walked over to the dog and smelled her breath, had a drink out of the dog's dish and then lay down on the couch. She was home. We had her for 17+ years. She was our first cat so we kinda treated her like a dog teaching her a few commands etc. She was a real sweetheart.
Tank and Chopper will definitely benefit from being there at the farm, and you can see how quickly they understand basic commands. However, my eyes keep going to Roscoe. He paces along with Wolfie, just keeping an eye on him. He takes a treat with the gentleness of a dog who has had years of training instead of months. PLEASE---someone adopt this sweet boy. I'm afraid if I lived in Australia, I would end up owning 15 dogs.
Copper just knew he and Tank needed to be Farm dogs, even if it’s just for now😉 they fit in so well.

Love the skewer feeding. I was impressed with how gently they know to take it from the skewer... and people don't think they have intelligence. It seems to me that many dog problems are not that at all, but people problems.

Loved how Lily kept coming back to make sure Pappa Luke was still coming forward on the quad. Now for the two new Staffy Boys, Tank and Chopper. The way you dug your heels in at the end and were offered a stay, great job Mate. You Boys did fantastic today, you are being awesome around the other dogs, Around Wolfie and Elle. And around food, so gentle to pull the food from the skewer. You have fell into the right place to learn etiquette. Looks like Roscoe is doing great with the 2 new additions and his sweetness and gentleness is shining through. I would have loved to have seen Tim stay so he could run like the wind every day. Loved watching the training at the end, one on lead and the other following suite to get praise and then Luke working Joey and everyone is following what he is saying and doing. love watching how trained these pups are. awesome day in my book.

Well what a wonderful story for Tank and Chopper, they will now have their best life at the farm until they find their forever home. Sam and Luke are such generous and amazing people to help these beautiful boys socialise and be happy. I must admit when one lay down and didn't want to leave I had a feeling they would stay. There is definitely magic that happens when a dog or pupper steps onto the Farm. Lunch was the sweetest. Everyone with four paws was gentle and kind and shared. To see the new boys just need a few lessons and then the most pleasant side of them took hold. Look sometimes, ya just gotta get away from your sibling for a bit. Here the training and the freedom will let them explore themselves and in turn make their relationship better. The home pack is golden, Sam and Luke.

They worked it hard until the end and knew that if they gave you that drop and sad eye look, they would be invited to wait out adoption at the Farm. Couldn't help but laugh when Roscoe purposely singled out both Barney and Freddo after Luke complimented Roscoe on "being such a good boy" at 10:01. Such a clever "gentle giant". Here's hoping Rosco and Freddo will become besties! That, in itself, would be another great video!
It is wonderful to see Chopper and Tank run free. They'll learn so much at the gentle Farm. Once they are adopted (not now) I hope they'll be renamed and given less macho names. Freddo, Rosco, the 4 GSH and Shadow are all mighty powerful doggos with names that reflect their gentleness and family orientation. Having said this, a parched member of WA Coffin Cheaters owned a white pit bull, who rode on his bike, wore a large studded collar, a helmet and goggles and a leather jacket - named Sweetie Pie - she was!
A year later so fun to look back at handsome Tank & Chopper!!! Better yet that they are in their forever home💙🎯💙

Chopper and Tank are integrating so quickly with the pack and are becoming so well behaved. Of course we aren’t seeing all the behind the scenes action, but it looks really promising! Some lucky owner will be getting 2 very good boys. With all this exercise they are going to sleep very well at the end of the day.
Lunch was very impressive! Everyone was so very polite and well behaved, and took the food very gently from Luke’s hand! Dang, Luke, all that BBQ is making me hungry!! Your dogs do eat very well!

Wolfie is getting his land legs under him, and really taking off! Next step is talking. I am really excited to hear what that little nugget has to say. His little toddler conversations are going to be epic! I don’t think my heart will be able to take it when he says “Good dog”!

It's so lovely to see them all running together. What I don't understand is how on earth they catch their breath, when they run at full speed and at the same time manage to bark - as if to say "can't we go faster?" It is such a pleasure to see the joy of simply using the body as it should. 🥰
