to be mor precised: The Never Summer Power Grip Sidecut is a combination of different sidecut radius, in the middle they have a pretty straight section and as it gets to the contact points there is at first a shallow radius, followed by a deep radius (for example straight/9.0/6.0) - I love the feeling of those sidecuts and I rode tons of boards and tested them. As you allready mentioned the Power Gripe Sidecut is always a highlight on really ALL Never Summer Boards
Watching this video to live vicariously through other riders this season. Had to have my hamstring reattached to my hip this past Friday so I can’t enjoy the snow this winter and it’s got me super bummed out. Hopefully next year will pan out better 😢

@@kizzenger It's a fun board. But I do like the traditional Proto better for my riding style for more stability at speeds. I don't do lots of butter tricks or park riding, I like to play around the slopes and natural features, which the ProtoSlinger is capable of. But $200 w/ Union bindings setup is a steal. I wouldn't pass up on that.

I've been snowboarding for a few years but have never had a proper freestyle board. That's why I wanted to ask to what extent it is suitable for normal descents, i.e. whether you can also go a little faster with it off the park?
Definitely, I ride an evil twin all over the mountain and am usually one of the faster riders. I just wouldn't downsize since a little extra length will add stability
@Alexander Kontsevoy having demo'd all of them I can confirm it grips better than Never Summer and feels more consistent than Arbor. If you don't understand the concept, it's about maintained edge contact. Salomon only make camber dominant shapes, and quadralizer optimizes edge contact when the board is bent into its natural turn shape. Never Summer and Arbor have to compensate by adding contact points because their camber profiles disengage edge contact. Not to mention the benefits of camber and the potential to create energy through the board.
@@MavericNorthcott all true. Cambered boards grip better because of the tension built in a turn, so they don’t need that traction bumps as much, but I still believe that quadralizer does not do anything, radial sidecut would work just as fine
@Alexander Kontsevoy camber maintains edge contact at the contact points but under load a radial sidecut has inconsistencies, that's where the advantage lies in using multiple radius's. Quadralizer creates more consistent contact under load and the location of the distored edges is based on the board's profile and flex pattern. My DOA (radial) didn't grip near as well on hard pack as my Villain (quadralizer).

CAPiTAs build quality always over the rental top sheet NS crap….Have the DOA beside other CAPiTAs and Romes
@@Gregor-em3ws i think u got the profile mixed up for both. i just got the doa as my daily driver for this season so im stoked to test it out but pretty sure doa is hybrid camber and NS is hybrid rocker. these two boards were the two i had trouble deciding which one to get.
@@steezy1692 I actually didn’t mixed up anything, but explained it even more precisely as the overall description „hybrid camber“ does not give all the information and is just an overall term for not being a rocker, but camber with rocker parts in the tips. DOA has camber in the middle, flat part after the inserts and tiny rocker in the tips. People call DOA, Outerspace Living (camber in the middle, full rocker from the inserts) etc hybrid camber although they have different „camber“ shapes. „HC“ gives you a category of a board, but not the actual camber profile. Some goes for „Hybrid Rocker“….
the topsheet has structural properties that add to the construction of the snowboard since it is wooden, unlike simple protective topsheets. Its not a huge deal but its a nice little value add
The Abstract isn't new, it's just the Villain. The Villain was ignored for years by reviewers until they changed the name to the "Abstract", called it "unisex", and put a feminine hipster graphic on it and now everybody's like "OMG the Abstract is amazing!" haha.

Interested as to why you commented on Arbor grip-tech and Never Summer power grip but not Salomon's quadralizer sidecut?
Because quadralizer doesn’t grip - they use blended straight lines in a sidecut geometry, so there are no bumps that could dig into firm snow
