If your 2009-2017 Dodge Ram cam with reflector headlights (not projector headlights) and you'd like to change the front turn signal bulbs to LED bulbs, this video is for you. In it we show you how to remove the RAM headlight, install LED resistors, and install the new LED bulbs. - Auta a dopravní prostředky
Love those switchback LED replacement bulbs :)
I ordered the switch back led turn signals and I was having problems with bulb out messages and hyper flash. I watched the video on how to wire it and I was having problems with the turn signals. If the park lights were lit, I got error codes. I would get hyper flash in the truck but normal flash outside except for the mirror signal which was hyper flashing. Very weird. So on a 2016 Ram 2500, the left turn signal, hook the resistor to the black wire and the white/brown wire. The right turn signal, hook the resistor wire to the black wire and the white/orange. Works perfect with no problems now.
I installed switch backs and they work great but it’s sating parking light out the turn signals were fixed by doing this resister but what about the parking light out ?? What lights is it referring too?
There are a couple videos on YT showing the resistors wired in SERIES with one wire to the LED bulb instead of in parallel. They will ONLY work correctly if wired in PARALLEL to the led as explained in this video.
I installed resistors for my switchback lights but they continue to flicker. Should I just chalk it up to cheap Korean made lights? I have since ordered a more pricey set and am just waiting for them to arrive.
Is there a video on those fogs being converted to gold?
Great vid did this to my 2015 works good do u sell led hheadlight bulbs for 2015 in white
Super thanks for this video!!!
You're welcome!
Nice review
Thank you for the great tutorial, my 2011 has white sliding locking mechanisms instead of that pin in the back that you access the trap door for.
Absolutely! We hope this helped!
On a 2016 you will need three resistors per tail lights one wired into the turn signal/ brake wire, one for parking light, and one on reverse light. And for the front will need two one on turn and one on parking light. Other wise you will have the messages on the dash which is not to bad for turn and brake but the parking light out message will keep popping up and chim while driving. I'm going to search for LED bulbs that possibly have resistor built I to the light I really dont want to install this many 200deg resistors on my truck.
Thoughts on using the prewired resisters that plug in to the bulb socket that have an attached socket for the LED? No splicing of any wires in any way needed. I have used these on my 1984 Fiero without issue.
If they work, they work! That sounds convenient.
What about the rear tail light and brake wires , which two to use of them out of the 3 wires? I have a white with light green stripe, and a white with a dark green stripe , and a black wire. My truck is a 2009 ram 1500 4x4 with the 4.7liter motor.
E-mail is @ sales@headlightrevolution.com and we can answer this better.
Thanks!
Very much helpful 👍
Whats the item number on them switch backs.
gtr lighthing has a led light bulb that does not required the load resister included ?
Any response?
Do I need a resistor in the front turn signals as well as the rear? I've replaced all the bulbs with leds and installed resistors for the rear turn signals but they hyper flash-yes they are wired correctly---Thanks
1 resistor needed for each led turn signal bulb
I used sylvania brand leds for both front and back blinkers on my '13 Ram1500 (had to buy in store bc i had a bad one) ... and all blink normally, but the computer says the front two are out... hyperblink on both the dash and rearview mirror lights and a completely normal hazard blink on all lights.. i suppose its working legally.. but the hyperblink in the cab and on the mirrors is driving me a little nuts
You just need resistors to solve all of those issues!

Is there a video of how to put switchback leds with the ttaps looking for a 2011 dodge ram 1500
There's not but we can help with your install if you need. Give us a ring. 218-755-5200
@@HeadlightRevolution I’m installing LASFit switchbacks today. In my 2012 Ram 1500. Are relays available or do I have to use resistors? Still learning lol
i have a 2012 Ram 1500 w both front and rear LEDs. I get hyper flash a lot. Do I need to install a load resister on both the tails and front signals?
czcams.com/video/UtFVviVDa4w/video.html
You don't have to remove the grille on a Ram 1500 to remove the headlamp assemblies...
Did you still get a parking light out message on the evic? I installed leds and resistors across my turn signal wire and ground and it fixed hyperflash but still get a light out message. I figured i would. Dont really want to put 2 resistors on each bulb.
Hey Erik, A lot of the new trucks don't hyper flash at all anymore. They just have the bulb out warning and that's it. So, if you're getting that warning, you either have the resistor wired in wrong, you have the wrong resistor, or it's defective.
If new trucks dont hyperflash what was this video about? If you werent fixing hyperflash in this video why did he solder a resistor in series with the turn signal wire? I think you got a message in that truck just wont admit it.
You still had hyperblink on the inside of the cab in the video which indicates a bulb out message. Any fix to that?
Evil Mofo any fix?
Are the switchbacks legal to use for the tail light signals?
No, you'd probably get a ticket for impersonating an emergency vehicle.
So with the amber/ white LED bulb I'll get running lights" white light " and when the turn signal is on the amber comes on?
That is correct, they DRL as white then switch to blinker amber, than "switchback" to DRL when your blinker turns off.
Hi I have a 2017 Dodge Ram installed a different type of led on the turn signals front and back they flash normally , but I get error message on the evic rear bulb out , and when I turn signal on I get hyper flash in instrument cluster but bulbs on outside flash normal.
AlfaOBD
So I installed led turn bulbs in front of my father 13 ram and the bulbs don't hyperflash but there is a code on dash saying both signal bulbs are out, what resister or decoder would I need to bypass this message and what wattage do I need for the load resisters for front and rear led bulbs? 50w ???
A resistor should fix this, 50w 6ohm!
If I'm just replacing a burnt out bulb and not switching over to LED, can I simply do so through the access panel in the wheel well?
Muskoka, thanks for your comment. Not in the Ram trucks. The method in the video was the easiest way we found to do the install.
Thanks for the reply and informative vid...much appreciated!
Dude but that’s an old truck the newer ones are different.
Have a bad blinker bulb. I’ll probably give it a shot through the access panel. Probably going to be a pain in the asss. Lol
@@williamschwiesow6678its actually pretty easy i did it thru the panel, 2012 ram
Mine don't do that , and i did everything in the video they just turn on white and don't flash
Can yall do an 07 ram model please I don't know how to do the resistors on my model
Here is video about upgrading the lighting on a 06-08 Ram: czcams.com/video/mzn-RRgxzdw/video.html
What I am trying to figure out is he tapped into the turn signal, yet he got the running lights solid as well as the blink on thr turn. I thought he said the other wire was the running lights? So basically how is he getting the solid on white light by only tapping into the blinker? Must be because the blinker is naturally the parking light until the turns come on.
Justin Walker You are correct. The switchbacks will only work when the turn signals also double as a running light and are in a clear housing for you to see the effect.
Thanks
Just curious but why does the turn signal wire need a resistor but not the running light wire?
Because of the way the flasher relay timer works. LEDs are lpwer resistance and causes the flasher to do ehat we refer to as hyper flashing (flash at a higher rate than normal).
My 2009 the dream driver side head green and white wire coming out of the blinker but blinker and passenger side are both white with Brown straight but there is a green and white straight coming out of the headlight Which one for the resistor
Lol autocorrect stripe pass side both brown coming out of blinker
Unfortunately, we don't know the exact wires that they need to be wired to, every vehicle is different.
We did make a video on how to find out which wires to tap into though!
czcams.com/video/ADKjG3Z2L5w/video.html
So I caught what seems like two different scenarios in the comments section. As for the DRL, if my truck does not have DRL from the factory does the switchbacks create that DRL or does it only work with trucks with factory DRL? I’m considering doing this if it allows my truck to have DRLs. Otherwise I will stick with incandescents. Awesome video! Thanks!!!
Kyle, the switchbacks will only work when the turn signals also double as DRL's from the factory.
Headlight Revolution Thanks. That’s what I figured but thought I’d ask to be sure.
You got it man. 💪
Do you guys have a shop in California
We don't sadly. Our only location is in Atlanta!
i bought led lights for my fogs and my head lights but after installing the headlights my turn signals are low and flicker its a 2013 dodge ram 1500 please help
First things first... when was the last time you topped off your blinker fluid?
Secondly, sounds like the connection to your blinkers came loose when you did your install.
Headlight Revolution lmao blinker fluid almost got me there ima check my connections thanks
My tech is installing turn signal LEDs and the resistors for me this Friday.
Awesome
Can I install a LED relay? Instead of the resistor
Greg Feeney I am pretty sure that the flasher come from the BCM
That is correct, its controlled by BCM
So mines were installed but when I use the turn signals don’t turn Amber! The guy that did them for me said I need a LED relay for them to work, is that right?
What make and model do you have?
If just changing the turn signal you have to do all this??
Yes you do. Upgrade your headlights at the same time to save work in in the future.
What headlight bulb are those? I like the blue tint
6000k gives you that nice blue tint. It is a pure white with a slight hue of blue to it, very modern.
Hid or led?
You can get this color in HID or LED!
What headlight bulbs u use ?
Thanks for commenting! headlightrevolution.com/2009-2018-dodge-ram-reflector-single-beam-led-h11-low-beam-bulbs-upgrade-supernova-v-3/ These are the bulbs that are in this ram.
My only issue is that I couldd not get one side of the grill secured via the bottom clip. Other than that, all good.
do all LED bulbs have to have a resister?
No, just the turn signals, otherwise they would hyperflash.
okay thanks! love the videos, i learn so much!
In some cars you have to use canbus style. If not the computer can detect like a bulb is burn but is not. That happen because the Led draw less power than the regular bulb. The resistor or canbus style make the computer see like is a bulb instead a Led.
I'm getting a fast blink in the cab when I use my right turn signal. Left is fine. Externally both of them blink at the same rate. Any ideas?
Timothy Lombardi sounds like you have one of your resistors installed wrong, or have a defective resistor.
Please double check that you have your resistor installed correctly and between your ground wire and positive turn signal wire. Some people accidentally install it on their parking light wire instead.
Hey guys, installed exactly the same way as the other side with your resistor and t-tap. I can send pics to your email for verification if need be.
Does it matter which side of the wires on the load resistor you connect to the wires on the light socket?
I have to install mine yet but as long as these are just resistors and not diodes it does not matter which end goes where.
Hey, why haven't you done any videos on the 2007 through 2008 Ram 1500 style lighting?
Here is a video on how to install HID's in your 2004-2009 Dodge Ram, you can use this to install LED's as well, it is even easier to install LED's than it is HID's. We hope this helps: czcams.com/video/XndW7uIu7E4/video.html
2010 blinker bulb replacement is different there's an access panel in the wheel well
James Culberson are you talking about the panel we show and talk about in this video at around the 6:37 mark? If that's the case, sure you could swap out the bulb that way, but you still need to remove the housing for the resistor install.
I installed my switchbacks on my 2016 ram 1500 and when the resistor was installed it causes my mirror turn signals to hyper flash? You know why this would happen?
This can be ccaused by a few things. Please email us so we can better assist you!

@@HeadlightRevolution Resistors must of been bad. Tried new ones and they work! Thanks for the quick response!
How much for just the resister?
The resistors are $19 for a pair!
headlightrevolution.com/gtr-lighting-50-watt-6-ohm-gold-style-resistors-for-custom-installation/
How bright????? 1000 ?
Mine does not look like that at all on my 2016 Laramie
Are you saying that the headlight itself is different, or are you saying that the turn signal bulb is different?
I wish there was a plug and play option. Idk why nobody has manufactured one that would work.
If you're dead set on plug n play there's always morimoto XB LEDs
you should of put heat shrink tubing on the wires before you soldered them
Oops! Good eye!
Why go through all this and not just replace the " Electronic Led Flasher Resister " ?
The resistor is always an option.
Or instead of all this, you could tell people you can change the signal light right from the hatch. Thanks for getting me to take off my grill for nothing
Sorry, I'm waiting for Bulbs with resistors built in to each bulb.
We should have something very soon for you then!
Or you can just get you an alpha OBD and plug into the truck computer and change it to run LED lights and then you don’t have to have the resistor and cut in the wiring on your truck
When this video was made that wasn’t an option, Thank you for sharing!
The resistors are rated 6 ohms at 25 watts. Forget the 25 watt resistors and use 6 ohm 50 watt resistors, and they will run MUCH cooler and last longer. These are available and most pro-grade electronic parts houses such as Mouser , Digikey, Allied electronics.
Thanks for your comment, the resistors included in almost all of our blinker kits is the 50W 6ohm. We try to make it easy for everyone to order what works for their truck.
Those are nice but your outta your fucking mind on those prices! 🤦🏼♂️
Wow! What a pain in the arse just to replace a turn signal 🐕💨
Right!?
Fuckin ballshit i just bought the led only to discover i will need resistor and i don't really feel like messing with my lights
All good man, shoot us an email and we will get a return set up! Have a great day! Sales@HeadlightRevolution.com
Crazy how much crap you have to do in order to replace a damn bulb. Ridiculous!
Excuse me, why did you take the whole grille out? You can easily take the headlight out without the grille removal, come on guys.
Devo Dar, sure you could swap out the bulb that way, but you still need to remove the housing for the resistor install.
@@HeadlightRevolution I think he is pointing out that you can actually take out the headlight housing without removing the grill. The idea is that you can get that bottom bolt out with an extension from the top. I personally prefer to just pop out the grill (if I'm working in my garage) since it's so easy to take off. I prefer to get to the bottom bolt with more ease. If I'm on the side of the road and looking to do a little quicker job - then sure, I'll get that bottom bolt with a long extension. Either way - the "come on guys" comment wasn't needed - it's not like it's a huge thing to zip off the four bolts to remove the grill...
Thanks
