    • @johnmal5975
      @johnmal5975 Před 9 měsíci +7

      The old expansion battery is 24 volt the newer one is 48v. You can not use the 48 volt on the other stations. Rumor is they are making a 3600w station thus switching over to 48v systems. I have 2 of the e2000 lfp's but I want the 3600 w station. So I will wait for that and add the newer batterys to the 3600 w station.

    We scored this unit on an Amazon glitch I guess. Priced at $899 with a $400 coupon. We should have bought several at $499. It ran our air fryer this morning. I am excited to see what it can do. We got the e600lfp for $258 with codes (thank you hobotech). That unit has boiled water with an electric kettle pulling over 1400 watts. I bet this unit will do more than 2200w also. It charges insanely fast from AC. Thanks for the great review. I have watched it several times.

    Excellent presentation. Thanks for sharing. Love the 12v output options and the high amp loads. Jackery and Bluetti are going to lose truck/van/boat/car business to this unit since they have practically abandoned 12v output options in their newest units. The Pecron E1500 Pro also has some very nice 12v output options. For use in my truck/car/boat where I need strong 12v options - I would pick either of these Pecron units over the newer Jackery/Bluetti units.

  • @TumnusMr
    @TumnusMr Před 9 měsíci +8

    One thing to note about the extended battery is that it is a 48V version, which is not compatible with the E2000LFP that uses a 24V battery, so don’t get the two mixed up. I believe the new model is something like EP3000-48V. Also the size of the battery is probably designed to also work with their even larger 3600LFP(?) coming out later. They still could have done a better job with the stacking though like you said.
    As for the 100W input, I was of the understanding that was more for car charging and by having a different connector you can’t accidentally plug it in to the high input port and fry your car’s 12V circuit or blow a fuse.
    On my E600LFP that has the same two inputs with the same voltage ranges printed (albeit lower total power) I was able to charge with a single 200W 18V panel in the 400W port. Pecron’s solar chargers take up to 30 seconds to kick in so you have to wait sometimes. This unit may be different though since it is 48V internally.
    Thank you for spotting that current drop when charging above 80V. I was thinking of getting this to run my office off grid and overpanelling slightly with 4 200W panels in series. Many panels have slightly more than 20Vmax so this is something to be wary of.
    Bit of a shame about the inverter idle consumption for using it all the time as a solar UPS. Hopefully now they have an app and updatable firmware that can be improved along with adjustable max charging rate and also adjustable charge and discharge limits for prolonging the life of the battery.

    Love the review. Another satisfied Pecron customer here. I've had the E2000LFP and the EB-3000 for just under a year and it generates a total of 4992 wh. Use it everyday and my only complaint is the ac charger bricks. Then again, I bought a second one so I'm able to fast charge at a max of 1200w from ac or a generator as needed. It's been a great company, quick to answer any questions and good customer service. Looking to buy my second EB-3000 this winter to max out at 8064 Wh.

  • @WDonaldson
    @WDonaldson Před 27 dny

    Great review - thank you! I am VERY happy with the Pecron E1500LFP! FYI: To charge the battery more "gently" using AC 120V at a rate slower than the default 1400W, I plug it into the wall & turn on the AC mode, then plug in a small heater. The E1500LFP will automatically turn on the "UPS mode" and will only send the battery approximately 1600W "minus" however much the heater is using. In my case 1600W - 700W = 900W charging. Something safer than a heater is desirable (perhaps a TV)...YMMV

    I have the Pecron E2000 and this thing has a lot of upgrades from that model. The app, the automatic detection of expansion batteries, the UPS feature and the faster charging speeds from the wall. Very cool to see the company is making so many improvements.

      so is the e2000 better than this one in the video?

    • @dbrennan1523
      @dbrennan1523 Před 9 měsíci +2

      @@joedowdiii Well feature wise definitely not. The 1,500 has all the upgrades I listed above. The e2000 of course is 500 more watts, allows for 400w more solar charging and on the top end has 1000 watts more expandable battery storage space. But the 1500 is cheaper right now I think by 200 on preorder. This one is definitely "better" in the sense of capability and less bugs. The 2000 is just a little bigger.

      @@joedowdiii This will keep the fridge cool, lights on, phone charged great for any normal power outage. Anything extended and you will need to charge it with panels or a gas generator. You just have to calculate your usage and divide it up. Since I bought my solar generator, everything I buy I look at watt usage now. A fan, a heater, a light, so I know in an emergency how far my battery will get me.

    I've had 2000 lfp in the bed of my Jeep Gladiator for the past year and a half. Charge it from the vehicle alternator via a Renogy 2000w inverter. It Powers my off-grid trailer, cooking, lights, entertainment, and Starlink. It hasn't missed a beat but the charging brick is starting to fail - very dusty environment. It occasionally stops charging - I disconnect it - try to blow it out - bang it around a bit (yeah bang it around and beat on it) and it starts again. I was going to expand with the 3000 but would still be dependent on the charging brick - so after watching this review I just bought the 1500 lfp instead (used the Hobo discount code and paid a total of $854.00. It will give less total storage but give me much faster charging at 1400w and also give me total redundancy in the event of failure of the 2000 or 1500, I wish there was a way to charge the 2000 from the1500 to be able to eliminate the weak link of the charging brick,

    The major flaw in this is the two solar charge ports. If you have two 12V 200W panels you can’t get maximum benefit from your panels. If you run them in series your at 24V which isn’t enough to trigger the minimum required 32V for the main charge controller. So you need to use the smaller port which is limited to 100W.

    Would you recommend installing this in an older RV (30a) in place of its house batteries or replacing the old LA batteries for a decent LFP setup? Don't want to fry anything if the alternator or generator tries to charge it, so would likely just wire it up to solar when boondocking or or its 110v charger when plugged in at campgrounds. I built my own "solar generator" using a 200ah battery, separate 40a/110v charger, and a pure sine invertor for about the same cost as this unit so just wondering if installing this would be simpler and more cost-effective?

    If Goldilocks was trying out various power stations, looking for one that was JUST the right size, weight and capability, this latest offering from Pecron would be the one she ultimately chose. It's "enough" without being too much, and this introductory price makes it the very best value in portable stations, at least for the next few days. One of the best videos you've done, as well.

    Hello. New subscriber here.
    Do you think it is a coincidence that in order to reach max watt input for solar charging you had to be somewhat within the Vmp and Voc range for two Pecron PV300 solar panels set up in series? You received the best wattage inputs in the 65-80 volt range.

    Awesome. Besides the warranty it's right up there, certainly value-wise. Glad I learned about the power drop from maxing out the solar input voltage. Is an 80-85% rule of thumb with the voltage useful for most stations with high solar input?

      Edit: since the only battery model I was able to see on their website was 48V I figured I wasn't able to get the right model for the specs BUT it looks like they have step-down transformers built inside so they can provide the 12V outputs ! ... so from the manual, YES we can plug 400W of PVs directly into the expansion battery through this weird connector which is not an xt60... 😅

  • @TheCornucopiaProject-bd5jk
    @TheCornucopiaProject-bd5jk Před 9 měsíci +1

    Wow.
    Looks like they thought, or tried to, of everything.
    Finally a decent solar input, 700 watt is very good input especially in a vehicle.
    Love the xt60 360 watt output. Was at first disappointment at the low wattage but since you can also use the RV plug for your 12v load center, it’s fine for an extra outlet.
    I have 3 improvements to suggest
    1) put all the plugs, outlets and buttons on the front, except that battery connection cable perhaps. If I want to use this in my RV/Van, I don’t want cables to be sticking out everywhere. My current Delta has cables on 3 sides, you can’t put that device in any corner.
    2) a dc and ac timer. I know it turns off under no load after a few hours. But when does it turn on? My Delta turns on when I get solar in the morning, but I have to turn on ac and dc manually. With a timer I could turn it off at 10pm and on at 8am, avoiding phantom drain. Outputs could also turn on when solar charging. There are a few ménagement options.
    3)
    4) app is wireless? Isn’t Bluetooth better?
    5) dedicated laptop output. My MacBook used a 140 watt brick, but a usb-c plug to actually supply the power. So a 150 watt usb-c outlet for high powered laptops would be so sweet. No AC needed.
    6) if not already possible, add a 200 watt mppt to the expansion battery.
    7) redesign the batteries plug location. Smack in the middle will allow more mounting/placement options.
    8) build a special unit inside one of those karaoke stations, with lights and all, turning it into the entertainment center. I’d buy that for the fancy lights alone…

    comment on the battery expansion cable. I saw another video where they have the battery on the bottom. They had the cable rotated toward the front not toward the back like you have. That is the cable is bowed toward you not away from you. Not sure if this will work in your case. Their cable could be designed differently.

    Let's say the power goes out and the ups kicks in perfectly
    But the power is out for a while and it runs out of power and shuts down
    When grid power kicks back in, what mode does start in (does it start?)?
    Does it pass through power and charge up?
    If the power goes back out, is it still running in ups mode? Or do your devices lose power the second time around

    Professor... I have two E1500LFP's both with two cascaded batteries. When I am backfeeding one, 120VAC phase/bus bar of my main breaker panel with either Pecron, most all of my screw-in base and 4' tube style LED lights significantly flicker. I have a Breville countertop over that also sounds very labored when running off the Pecron. When I run any led lights when the oven is on, the flickering triples. Both units are outputting 59.9 Hz, 120 +- Volts and 2 - 2.5 THD, more or less identical to my grid power. I just picked up a DeltaPro Ultra and have backfed the main breaker panel with it's 240 VAC output and I get zero flickering and no oven issues. It's not an inductive feedback or radio interference issue. Have you run a phase of your house from your E1500 and experienced any of this?

    Looks great! and definitely best bang for the buck but one thing missing to be the perfect option for a van conversion/RV is
    DC-DC charging and I'm not talking about the turtle speed lighter plug, which I know is limited more by the vehicle lighter amperage.
    Even if they offered it as an additional external accessory with a property connection that would make it the perfect power station
    What are your thoughts on using boost converter charger to simulate solar charging.
    Or would it be better off using an AC 1000W converter from the vehicle lighter/ separate direct 12 volt connection to battery into to the AC input.
    With an ON/OFF switch so you can charge while your engine is running and driving long distances.
    Taking advantage of dual charging and leaving the 700 Watt solar plug available for a few solar panels?
    Their current 3000 is good and have dual 600 Solar inputs but no Anderson plug.

      No one has done it yet and I think the main reason is liability. They don't want people blaming the power station for issues with the car electrical system.
      That's why an official external DC-DC charger that plugs into one of their aircraft connectors is the ideal solution and meets people half way who don't want to build a system but would be able to hook up a car amp.
      DC-DC chargers can be hard on alternators if you don't have a surplus of amperage or if you have a smart alternator you kind of have to know what you're doing and ,I guess they assume that at that point you might as well just build your own system and there's no market for it.
      I know I'm capable of building my own but I like the idea of a portable power station because I work remotely and out of coffee shops, share spaces, etc
      I want to be able to take it out of my van put it on a rolling kart/bag and roll it in with me and charge it indoors while I'm working at a coffee shop.

    They solar input will be tough for folks like me that just have a hodgepodge of different panels from 60W to 100W to 250W. To really get this thing charged in a day I’ll need to throw together a couple panels to meet the 32v minimum on the larger MPPT controller. I wonder why they designed the E1500LFP with this MPPT controller configuration? Otherwise great features and great price.
