Ktuner V2 or JB4 for your Honda/Acura?

In this video, we examine two popular options for tuning turbocharged Honda and Acura cars. The JB4 piggyback tuner from Burger Tuning, and the FlashV2 from KTuner. Both are viable options but some very important differences between them will make it clear which one is for you!

Yes we have installed both! The JB4 you can definitely feel adds power right off the bat. It is fast and easy to install and works as advertised.
I was hesitant to go with a JB4 piggyback because it offers less flexibility than the KTuner, but the KTuner tunes for the Type S are relatively new, and don't have nearly as many miles (or videos) as the JB4 for the Type S.
Can't wait to see an update on the KTuner now that tunes are available!
The actual KTuner tunes have been developed over almost a year internally, they have PLENTY of road time on them in varying conditions.

My favorite things about Ktuner is the ability to adjust overun throttle compensation and the ability to adjust throttle input.
The amount of changes you can make are vast. The JB4 is PnP power, but the KTuner offers the power and so much more.
I’m going to ask a rookie, non-tuner guy kind of question, do these solutions have an impact on warranty? I’m not a track guy and just like rip it when the mood strikes, so it sounds like the JB4 is the solution for me. Great informative video’s, please keep them coming.
Thanks for asking! Any modification you do is going to have an impact on the warranty. The generally safer bet for the situation you are referring to is the JB4. But ultimately in order for you to have a problem two things need to happen. 1) You need to have a failure that will have to be caused by something the tuner did, and 2) They need to prove the failure was caused by something the tuner did.
I have a 2024 Acura TLX Type S, and I'm trying to locate the ECU number and I couldn't find it. Where are they generally located on an acura?

It's so super simple...just plug in the plugs according to the instructions. If we get a change we will make a video.
I'm assuming the KTuner will also work for the 22+ MDX Type S as well since they are the same engine, trans and ecu as the TLX Type S? Only thing about the Ktuner that is not cool is that if something happens you take the car back to the dealer they will know the ecu flashed and void your warranty.
No it will not, not until they complete development on it. The JB4 works on both because it is a much simpler, solid-state device with its own programming internal to the unit, doesn't need to get inside the computer like a KTuner does. But as I recently learned no I do not believe the Acura dealer can specifically prove you flashed the car.

It's a good question we have not done a power test on that. Based on our experience installing a JB4 and driving it around for a while it's good for an easy 20-30 horsepower. Eases up the booth just a bit to give you that juice.
Depends on the Honda/Acura. 15-18 TLX only are supported by Ktuner

If the k tuner is rewriting the ecu… is that detectable by Acura? I’ve heard that simply removing the JB4 will not be detectable by Acura. My 2021 Type S is is my longterm car and I don’t want warranty problems.
As we understand it not it is not detectable specifically as a reflash, no. If there is a failure that results in an engine light, then Acura can get freeze data from the ECU showing what was going on at the time of the failure. But that is it
If youre going to have work done at the dealer, you can reflash it back to stock. wont be detectable in any way unless you leave the unit in the car lol

Honestly, knowing them....no.
Which map on the jb4 is the best for the Acura tlx
Depends on your driving habits, style, etc. You’ll need 91+ octane gasoline regardless, when you flash any of the maps on.
Map 1 is only +3.5 PSI, so it’s safe. Map 2 is +4 PSI, but can take all the way up to 93 octane gas.
Map 5, I believe, is an E30 (30% ethanol) tune, which you can run with the stock fuel system, I believe.
Map 6 is fully customizable, but I forget how it’s adjusted. Maybe via a computer/laptop?
I have a Acura tlx 2022 2.0L and I’m wondering what is the best one the ktuner or the jbl, I’m not a professional in cars and I don’t know if it’s safe for me to install because I feel I’m going to do something wrong, what is your advice
Also I don’t want the manufacturer to notice that I changed the ECU with a tuner because if they know the warranty will drop but in the same time I wanna take the risk

No, sadly not yet.
Sadly my jb4 was throwing 13 different codes after the install of my downpipe. I cannot run the jb4 anymore due to that. Any fixes ?

The only thing I’d say that’s weird is the trans really gets used to how you’re driving it I have a jb4 and depending how I’m Driving the trans kinda gets used to it

Not that we know of. I've heard that they probably won't spend any resources developing anything for it. I hope I'm wrong....
Haven't gotten any information from Hondata yet, Right now it doesn't seem like they're working on anything, but then again they tend to release stuff without notice as well.
What king of who gains could I expect for my 21 tlx a spec with the jb4 on the 93 gas tune?
JB4 claims "Power gains of up to 80whp/100wtq" which probably is using an ethanol mix. I would expect gains around half of that on 93, as a rough guess.

Yes the warranty should not likely be an issue, just need the KTuner to release. Buy on Heeltoe when ready. We have JB4 now.
I think the ECU logs everything. So they’ll know if you reverted back

@@fizzmynizz5385 The ECU does not log everything. As far as I know it can't keep track of flash counts, and you can't "see" what map is in it.
Anybody using the JB4 in mdx type s, this will make any difference in performance?? Also what about if i need to bring the car to the dealer, they will know if i put the jb4?
I run JB4. Whenever i go to the dealership. I remove it. They wont know a thing. Unless something when wrong and they really really want to get to the bottom of why it messed it

I mostly have done highway pulls. 0-60 not sure. It really spins alot. So i really dont have traction 1st into 2nd gear.

jb4 is plug and play. u dont need a tuner for that.

@@Lawtypes It won't damage anything if that's what you mean. But you will need to have some reasonable expectations. It's not a perfect solution. But I wouldn't go so far as to say as it's dangerous.

so there was a lot of talking but zero results.
This was comparing the products, no the power. At the time of the video the KTuner was not compatible with the Type-S so there was not ability to make that video at the time.
The goal of the video was to help people decide which product is for them. Based on the product differences here, we think we outlined it well.
