Aside from the child....I hear old walls. Thank God. We lost a legendary educator recently. He was a black man whom him and his family overcame and became an impactful leader. He spoke at my Dad's visitation 6 years ago. Him and his family also attended the funeral mass at an old church with old walls. I will never forget when it was time to extend peace to each other, him and his family along with many non catholics came all the way from the back of the church to extend strength and peace to us. It meant so much. Your homily elicited this memory...thank you
I have suffered from depression and panic anxiety for the last 20+ years. I do not know where mental illness ends and personal responsibility begins. I worry about the fact that I worry so much, I worry that my worry offends God. I am weak and I am a sinner, but I trust Jesus is smarter and more powerful than my weakness and he is going to save me some day... and still I worry. I fought this cross as a young man, but now embrace it as reparation for my sins and for the sins of those in purgatory (especially the forgotten souls in purgatory!). God help me, the anxiety is so exhausting. Pray for me.

I was a worrier, always filled with anxiety about something. I no longer worry. First it is important to realize that yes it can be caused by mental illness or by a medication or by our life long habits and exposure to people who influenced us - there can be many reasons but the most important thing to realize is this - you know about it - you know you worry, no one has to point it out to you, you don't like it and you want change - this does not come from you - this is inspiration and grace that comes from the Lord to draw you near so stop worrying that the Lord is unpleased with you and realize he is drawing you closer so he can heal you. One thing that brought me peace was a confession on divine mercy sunday - I had gone over (painstakingly) an examination and wrote down everything I possibly needed to confess if not sure if I had before (age makes you forget) and this made it go quickly so I didn't hold up the line but I have had peace since. You don't have to wait for that day - I just happened to worry myself just before that day so it worked out. You have the right attitude - give your worry to Jesus (sounds easy). If you often say "Jesus I trust in you, take care of everything" Before you know it you will rely on this prayer and not the worry. If you often reject the worry in Jesus name (I reject these thoughts in Jesus name) as it comes to you it will help. Believe me I was always worried, paranoid, terrified, nervous, and more. Accept things yes, but also ask for healing "Lord if this is a condition that comes from your will I accept and will it - but if it is not pleasing to you I reject it and ask you to send it back to where it came from with a ten fold blessing in Jesus Name" Wear the scapular (be sure you are invested) pray your rosary - pray the holy wounds rosary - pray the St Michael Chaplet - wear a Blessed (in the old rite) St Benedict medal. ..... There are many means for you to resource help in healing - God Bless you.

I will try to remember to pray for you. I have had bouts of anxiety sometimes for months so bad that I was getting 2-3 hours of sleep nightly, still had to work, could barely pray out of exhaustion and delirium. I was so confused by lack of sleep that I couldn't think to ask the Blessed Virgin to intercede. I finally did because I thought I was slowly dying. She interceded, and I began to be able to sleep. I almost couldn't pray the Agony in the Garden. I hadn't known mental anguish could be a true cross.
