  • Jonathan Freeman is best known for lending his voice to Jafar in Disney’s Aladdin, its sequel “The Return of Jafar”, and the Kingdom Hearts series. He and Linda Larkin were both based in New York City so naturally, I asked if he had been to Grand Central Station, which he perceives it as beautiful and literally grand. I’ve only been to NYC a few times by train and because it’s so rare that I go, the station, specially the terminal’s main concourse, is still a sight to behold. ^_^
A question that I’ve been dying to ask Freeman for about a month was what Jafar’s first order of business be if he was elected president of the United States. His answer was not unexpected. He would forcibly revert the US government to a dictatorship and force Jasmine into being his First Lady. I doubt he’d let her have that title, unfortunately. If you come right out and say that our current system would stop Jafar from grasping that authority, think again. Even if his charisma wouldn’t win over voters, his sorcery is still a force to be reckoned with and he had the Genie at his mercy in the final leg of the movie so anything can happen. As a child, that was probably why Jafar terrified me the most out of every villain I was familiar with.
Last year, HorrorKid requested me to ask either Jodi Benson, Paige O’Hara, or Linda Larkin what it was like reprising their roles in the Kingdom Hearts series, but I felt guilty that I never got the chance because I often wanted to have an intellectual conversation with them. So I was lucky that I finally seized it during this session because although Jafar was a recurring villain, he still played a major role in hindering Sora’s progress.
